Drip tape main line tip for all the older folks out there. It can be hard to push the main line on to the fittings all the way. If you buy an inexpensive battery powered heat gun, hit the cut end of the drip line with heat for a few seconds and the fitting will push on much easier. If you need to make a change to a layout, heat the hose on the fitting and it will slide right off. My main tool line is Makita, but I had a few Ryobi garden tool items so i bought the less expensive Ryobi 18v heat gun (tool only) for $29 on sale. If you don't have any other 18v tools, you can buy a basic heat gun at Harbor Freight for $29. A heat gun also works on those little 1/4" fittings & the 1/4" line as well, just less time required.

When i put my dripper’s in the pipes, i use a cordless drill to make a hole. I’m very careful so as not to go right through the pipe, but it’s so much easier than punching the holes.🇦🇺

I plant the Texas 40 cream pea. They are so sweet tasting small pea . I eat then right out of the pod. But they are very hard to shell.

I've had big problems with the pea curculios in the past but this year it's kudzu beetles. Never even seen one until this year. They decimated my scarlet emperor beans and moved to my Kentucky wonder beans. Now they've moved to my purple hull and cream 40 peas. I've been hitting them with spinosad and bug buster 2 but they just keep coming

No rain in central Louisiana. It only rains every few weeks. My Red Ripper Peas are finally producing some unstung pods. It`s almost impossible to grow food with all the bizarre weather and swarms of pests. The only advantage of trying to grow peas is as a cover crop and nitrogen fixer. The young green pods can be harvested but that`s about it.

I really appreciate your videos! I have okra seeds from a older gentleman who had been saving seeds each year from the early 1950's. Would they be considered heirloom? How could I find out what variety? Thanks for any help from the group

That corn looks nice even with the heat. I'm glad you showed us before Debbie. Unless the seed is selected carefully I don't see Bleu McCormick ever being consistent. It's not a true heirloom since it was released in 1994 and I highly doubt the seed is well selected. I would try the heirlooms the farmers grew there 100 years or more ago. The old extension service trial reports are still available on Google. Up here they grew Hickory King, Neil's Paymaster(selected from TN Red Cob), Jarvis Golden Prolific, and many other varieties. Seed is still available, I got some of mine from the GRIN germplasm repository. Some heirloom seed suppliers have seeds available. Even with those seeds, you have to select for consistency because the seed stock available today seems to selected for quantity of seed, not quality. It took Mr. Neil 13 years of carefully selecting for two ears, red cobs, and deep kernels to come up with Neil's Paymaster. It's the most consistent, high yielding, two eared corn I've ever grown.

Thanks for the information about selecting for two ears per stalk. I have started doing that with Bloody Butcher.
@dvrmte
@dvrmte 2 месяца назад
@@DouglasCochran-p5j Some varieties have higher yields when selecting for one big ear. I would think Bloody Butcher would be a good candidate for selecting two ears. I've grown it and it had a lot of two eared stalks. Back in the day, there were two basic types of dent corn grown in the South, the one or two eared varieties with tall strong stalks, and the prolific multi-ear varieties that often produced ears on the tillers/suckers. Jarvis Golden Prolific always has at least two ears, sometimes 4-5 small ears. It was the highest yielding heirloom yellow field corn grown in much of the Southeast 100 or more years ago. It dries down in the field better than any other variety I've grown.

I like me some cowpeas and cornbread yummy! No I'm not over weight from eating to much cornbread lol. You can't find a good cornmeal anymore, that GMO corn has absolutely no taste whatsoever. Hoover's use to make a pretty decent cornmeal but it's like all the rest now, just plain bland. How I would love to have some made from hickory king, that was some good cornmeal.

Plant them and see. All okra is worth growing and it`s certainly heirloom I would think. If he saved the seeds it must be for a reason. Some okra varieties need to be picked when pods are small or they get tough with fibers. Texas Longhorn variety stays tender at 8 to 10 inches. Red Hill Country variety makes plump, thick pods. Red Burgundy is obvious when the pods form. There are branching varieties too. Save the seeds from plants that branch.

Excuse me, could you please assist me? I have recently made a significant decision to prioritize my agricultural endeavors and have been diligently investing my efforts into cultivating my land. However, I am in need of some assistance in obtaining quality seeds. If it is not too much trouble, would it be possible for you to send me some good seeds? I am located in Maryland, and any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration. Much love
