I'd definitely love to see an affordable brush review! Especially looking at the wet and wild brushes (because I've seen so many of them at Dollar Tree for a buck). And personally, I'd like to see how affordable and higher end brushes compare to eachother
I've gotten all the WNW brushes I've seen at Dollar Tree! I really like them, but I go for a more diffused, natural look. Not a makeup artist in the least. Lol
I love those Wet-N-Wild brushes, especially for a buck! E.l.f. also makes really good & affordable brushes. Those two brands make up about 90% of my brush collection.
not worth it. The wet n wild flat brushes are scratchy and hurt my eye, the fluffy brushes don't blend out eyeshadow nicely. I only kept the fluffy face brushes those are alright *shrugs*
Yes, if you would please do a best of drugstore priced brushes. I like Eco Tools but I'm curious about other brands. I just can't afford pricer brushes.
Marnie, I'm in the same boat. I encourage you to check out the Studio AOA brushes from shopmissa.com ($1 each, but great quality synthetic brushes). Domestic shipping from Texas is less than $4. I've found the eye brushes from Essence are also excellent & are around $2 each at Ulta (plus sometimes there is a BOGO half-off sale). I have not been disappointed with either of these brands. If you have a Dollar Tree near you, you might check for Wet n Wild brushes there. I have quite a few & have enjoyed those as well. 😊
definitely give AOA brushes a shot! I love the f19, and the pink eyeshadow bundle, i also love their contour and blush brushes. The wet n wild studio pro brush line or whatever it’s called is great, and i love the real techniques blush brush for bronzer
BH cosmetics also great place for affordable brushes. 2nd on the AOA brushes! They have a dupe for the Anastasia highlight brush and it's great! I bought like 5
*You are KILLING IT with the video’s lately! I love that you are uploading a lot more.* I don’t know if it’s too much but it would be nice if you listed the brushes on the screen as you’re using them in a tutorial. It makes for a good screenshot to see the brush name and how it’s being used! 😊
btw Jess your foundation and face makeup looks freakin amazing! it always looks good but theres something about this combo that makes it look amazing....like so amazing that if your entire makeup collection disappeared you should go out and immediately buy the base products you're wearing right now!!!
I may have a solution to the "peach fuzz" hair on the face. I'm going to be 59 years young and my fuzz has "matured" to thicker hair. I was so tired of shaving my face and tried the Flawless Finish. (CVS sells it as does Walmart) I swear it was sent by the angels above! It comes in the small eyebrow trimmer (I haven't tried that one), a single "blade" (love it) and one for legs with 4 "blades" (ahhhh!). I use the 4 blade on the large sections of my face followed by the 1 blade for the smaller areas like the temples, upper lip etc. Done in less than 1 minute. Love them so much, I had to share.
No. I apply my Neutrogena moisturizer and my face is soft as a baby's butt. I think the hair grows in softer because the hair removal isn't harsh on the skin like using a blade or razor and the moisturizer isn't battling abused skin.
I use it also. I love love love it. No it doesn't leave stubble and it doesn't come in thicker. It makes my skin look so smooth and it's a game changer for woman who like a flawless finish with their makeup. highly recommend
Omg! you talking about your nostrils being uneven! 'i had no idea, thank you for pointing out my flaws" I DIED! Love this video though jess! will have to purchase some cause your recommendations on everything so far have not let me down! xxx
ALSO 😂 I’m getting my degree in education (I want to be an Elementary teacher)! BUT I have such a huge passion for makeup, and ultimately that’s what makes me the happiest. My mom was like, “OKAY JESSICA BRAUN” 😂😂
Alyssa Marie Baniaga yes!! I have been teaching special education for 6 years but I LOVE makeup- my mom is encouraging me to do more makeup... mostly on her 😂 best of luck with your studies! 💕
Taylor Palmer Oh that’s so awesome! Those kids are amazing; my friend is a special education teacher and her kiddos are great. LOL gotta love encouraging mom’s!😄 My mom keeps telling me to start a channel for fun 😁 Thank you so much!💕
Alyssa Marie Baniaga your mom sounds fantastic. I suggest doing things that make you happy outside of teaching/ you will need a stress relief. Although I’m sure you’re not riddled with tons of free time right now 😝
Your foundation here matches you so well. I think it’s a big part of why your makeup looks so flawless here. It’s not yellow toned like some of yours can be but it’s neutral/cool-toned. Jess, you look amazing, youthful and radiant!
Oh man those workouts are paying off! Your face looks more angular and you've got that healthy skin glow! Also, Ecotools has such high quality and affordable brushes 😊
I love my Revlon tweezers!!! They come in a few cute colors, they don’t open super wide but they are kind of sharp-ish so I’ve never had a problem tweezing my brows.
Whatever makeup you used in this video is gorgeous!! Your skin looks great and that eyeshadow color is so flattering. And your eyelashes look amazing!!
I bought that It Cosmetics french boutique brush after watching you talk about it in a video, and it has fast become one of my very favorites. I'm so glad you recommended it.
Yes! So happy you're testing Sonia Kashuk brushes! I loved the older brushes, before they revamped the line and am now getting the newer brushes, which are now all synthetic. I'm liking them so far. I have more Sonia brushes then any other brand. They have so many shapes and styles that I just love. I have way too many brushes, but I am still gonna get more. I cant help it. Addicted!
I use those tinkle brushes to touch up the top of my eyebrows where I get stray hairs. Also, fun fact! If you have a sweater that gets the little balls pulled up after washes, you can comb over them with the tinkle brush to get rid of them! It makes your sweaters look brand new!
My favorite brushes are from Amazon and they're called BS Mall. (I'm sure they're a dupe for some good brand) I LOVE them, I never have any streaks at all and I have a lot of crinkles and wrinkles to get around. PS- you look awesome today!!
I do dermaplane my whole face with a similar, tiny razor that you showed...I don't think it takes that absurd amount of time, since I do it only once every other week. I have noticed that it is a huge mistake trying to follow your regular skincare routine after it, because almost all products sting like hell after it. Hydrating and calming toner + the most simple moisturizer afterwards is the way to go. Needless to say that your skin needs to be cleansed properly before shaving.... It is so satisfying to see the dry top layer of your skin and the peach fuzz coming off, and the foundation really applies so well the following days. I would only dermaplane at night, and avoid active acne areas. When shaving your face with that kind of tiny razor, I would shave dry skin, not wet. I use disposable blades, but still use them several times before changing it. I just clean it with soap and disinfect with alcohol after use. I got the idea of dermaplaning from the reality tv show "Vanderpump Rules", where the male model revealed that he shaves his forehead... I tried it and loved it😅😳 In case anyone still thinks that shaving your face makes your hair grow thicker and faster....it's a myth. I started to get hormonal acne on my chin after the age of 30 and at the same time started to notice obvious facial hair on my upper lip, chin and cheeks. I have heard that as women age, they might get moustache as their hormones change. First I didn't want my boyfriend to know that I'm shaving my face, but then I realized it's not that big of a deal. I told him and now we have one more common thing to talk about😉😄
I have the giant Elf powder brush and it feels like heaven on my face! 😁 If you're looking to try more affordable brushes, try the Milani ones! So under the radar, I never hear them talked about, but they are amazing!
I usually don’t comment when I’m a day late but I have to say I love the IT dual ended concealer brush. I didn’t realize how expensive it was because I got it free at Ulta after buying a concealer, and now I feel like I got an even better deal because the concealer was only $25 so yay. Plus have to add, my favorite fluffy crease brush is a $1 wet n wild one I got years ago. I haven’t seen it in stores but I know they still sell it on their website, it’s awesome.
Same. My face, my germs. I also do it to sharpen my winged liner when I mess it up. 😂 I have a makeup remover pen that's still in the box bc I can't be bothered.
Love your makeup here! I also have that IT Cosmetics French boutique blush brush and loooove it. I think it's actually my favorite brush in my collection. So soft, and I think it's pretty, too!
I wish my curly hair looked like this! So pretty! Also - I have the White ELF brush and I don't use it as much because it's just far too huge.. other than that it works really well.
If you look into the curly girl method, keep in mind it doesn't have to be all or nothing... I have fine, wavy hair. If I went fully for the curly girl method it would be too much because my hair is not as course as a lot of people's with curly hair... But there are elements that really help my hair look the best it can.
You look gorgeous! Loving your makeup in this video. And, LOVE the long videos! 😘😘😘 Also, thank you for this video!! You put so much effort and detail into it and it shows.
All of my brushes are drugstrore, between real techniques, elf, wet n wild & eco tools... need some new eye ones though, thank you for the recommendations ❤ Also... your hair is lovely like this!!! 💃🏻
I HIGHLY recommend the Anastasia tweezers- so much so that I bought a backup for my travel bag and I bought some for my mom too- she agrees they’re the best tweezers she’s ever used. Well worth the price in my opinion
Can't wait for your Target product haul wth Sonja K brushes. Seriously though, who doesn't love the ELF brushes at $1-$12+?!! I also feel the SK brushes. Wow.
That giant Elf Powder brush is one that I almost got rid of. It initially felt scratchy on my face so I put it away to only use for body. However, because it’s been washed so many times it’s now super soft and perfect for face powder. You never know. High quality and durable! One of my best purchases!👏😊
Hey Jessica! For affordable brushes, I can't express how impressed I've been with the quality of the Studio AOA brushes found on shopmissa.com. The brushes are all synthetic & cruelty-free (as is everything on the website), & most amazing is that they are only $1 each. Their AOA Wonder Blender makeup sponges are also excellent. I could totally identify with your mention of needing to wash sponges a few times to "break them in" to the desired softness, but I think you would like these. I have also been impressed with the eye brushes by Essence, particularly their Precise Eyeliner Brush. I use it regularly w/black matte eyeshadow for tightlining the upper lash line just as you described, & it is so tiny & perfect for serving that function. I think I bought at Ulta for around $2, so the price was amazing as well. I've also been very happy with many of the Wet n Wild brushes. Would love to see a video on affordable brushes like these & others! 😊 💖 👍🏻 🌷
You're looking especially gorgeous - LOVE your makeup look! I almost exclusively use shadow to line these days; it is so easy, fast and precise. While I own a number of tightlining brushes, I found one made by Wet n' Wild a few months ago that has become my favorite - it blows my higher end brushes out of the water when I want a thin line. Thanks for the video!
I have the "peach fuzz" type hair on my face and I just use a regular shaving razor for it. Been doing it for years. It doesn't grow back any thicker or darker. Not for me anyway. It works really well and beats paying to have someone else do basically the same thing. I've tried the Tinkle ones and they didn't work for me.
Tweezer...I have paid for all kinds of tweezers. One day my hubby needed tweezers to do a project with super glue, yeah all I need to say. So he felt bad and went to Walmart and bought the white Revlon pair with the silver case. I have had them for years and they are the best. Way better than several high-end ones I have bought (like the ones that died in glue, I didn't have the heart to tell him how much those were, LOL!)
ummmm can we get a tutorial of this look?? Hair makeup all of it!! You look amazing! But I mean honestly you always look amazing but this look soo pretty!
Yes can you please do affordable makeup brushes!! Especially because I really want to know what the best affordable eye brushes are. None of us wash our brushes everyday and I need some good eye brushes do do a bunch of different looks with! Much love ❤️
Really enjoyed this review, Jessica. It felt like I was sitting with my best friend, who loves makeup brushes as much as I do, and we spent a lovely winter afternoon with all our favourites out on the table. You have such a great laugh, too. Thanks for all your work.
Alyssa Marie Baniaga oooh!! I’ve been wanting to try those really bad! I also am going to get their new rose moisturizer. I have the serum at home and I love the smell of it and the new one is supposed to be really thick and creamy and my skin is crazy dry right now. I’m actually going to stop at cvs today so hopefully they have all of those! Did you find them at a store or did you order it online?
Britt Fansler I saw their new Rose stuff but didn’t pick any of it up! I got their new matcha cleansing balm and that’s amazing as well! You’ll love the hydrating vitamin shot! My skin gets so dry in the winter and putting that on before a moisturizer has been a life saver! I got mine in store at Rite Aid 😊
Alyssa Marie Baniaga awesome!! Thanks so much!!! I’ll definitely pick up whatever they have at cvs. I don’t have a rite aid anywhere close. On my last trip I did pick up the new ponds cleansing balm and I’m really liking that. It has the same rose scent to it and melts away all of my makeup and I think it’s a pretty decent dupe for the Clinique take the day off balm except for its lightly scented
Sara Zimmerman I didn’t see any of the new physicians formula stuff in the cvs I went to today. I’m going to check out the cvs that’s closer to me when I go to town. I can’t wait till that stuff comes to the store!!!
I have a beautiful set of Sephora brushes and they look almost exactly like the ones you're mentioning, I'm gonna have to go look to see, but I LOOOOOOOOOOVE them
its also beautiful for foundation (which is what its meant for) gives you such full coverage even if the foundation has a lighter coverage..basically this will give you more coverage than any brush or sponge..its also beautiful for cream blush, bronzer, cream contour, you could even use it for a very sharp powder contour or for an overall highlight on the cheeks
I'd love to see a video exclusively about affordable brushes. Also I'd be interested in your recommendations for the most essential brushes, the ones one should buy when starting out. Even if brushes are affordable, it gets expensive if you buy ten or twenty, so which ones are essential and which ones could be added at a later point?
Tip on the IT Cosmetics French Boutique Blush Brush - on QVC they have blush & Boutique brush bundles that are $34 or $35. So since the brush itself is $34.50, it is basically like you are getting the blush for free.
I just bought that 3 pack of velour puffs!!! It got delivered a couple days ago but I haven't had time to do my makeup. They're fantastic quality! Also if one side gets dirty, you can kinda flip the handle/ribbon-y part thing to the other side and use the other side of it! I saw someone in the reviews on Amazon say that.
My favorites are the Wayne goss eye brushes both the dark hair and the white. The black ones are softer and honestly take a little longer to get used to however, the newest ones are phenomenal....my go to eye brushes. I use Luxie for the angled liner, the pencil brush for undereye blending . I have more that I occasionally pull out but for everyday use I reach for WG
Snuglebuny1978 DeGroot not trying to enable spending money you don’t have BUT Beautylish offers a pay over time option. They split your payment up over 3 months. Instant gratification but not going in to debt. I only use my checking account to pay so I’m not putting it on a credit card. It’s a nice option. The WG brushes are worth the expense but beside you know what you want and what you will use it for so your not spending money on a brush that won’t get used. I use my eye brushes daily.
I would love to own a WG brush someday...I have a decent set I got for almost free from Coastal Scents through Birchbox over 5 years ago...and a smattering of Luxie, SLMissGlam, It Cosmetics, Moda Pro & Real Techniques (mostly from sub boxes)..I like them all.
I love hearing about so many different brushes. I am a frugal shopper, so I have put together my brush kit from Elf, Real Techniques, Wet n'Wild, and some Amazon "copies".The best brush I own is a soft powder brush from Amazon. It was around $5. But, I am tempted to get some of these! To wash my sponges, I take the sponge and rub it on a bar of soap, then run it under water (repeating as needed). It helps keep the sponge in tack, without putting holes and rips in it. P.S. I can't find an eyelash curler that is small enough for my eyes.
Hey Jess!! You are just a little doll! I. Loved this video!! Stay who you are..... hysterical and beautiful from the inside out!! You always make me smile and laugh 😆💋💋💋
