1. KATE you read so many Murakami novels?? Where do I start??
I have an entire video made for the purpose that I get asked this literally every video I mention Murakami - I have it in a playlist or you can easily search it on my channel!
2. How do you pronounce your username?
Pfeil is pronounced “file” - it’s German
3. What is your college major/what do you do in college?
I was originally a nutrition major and I’m now in English Education. I’m planning on teaching English in Korea
4. What languages do you know?
English, Spanish, German, Korean and ASL. Yes, feel free to leave comments in any of these languages and I’ll try my best to reply in that language - my German is a little rusty since I only use it with my Grandparents and I’m currently learning Korean soooo cut me some slack lol English and Spanish though I’m (basically) fluent.
5. YOU LIKE KPOP???? WHAT GROUPS/PEOPLE/SONGS?
Yes, I love Kpop - I post kpop related unboxings/MV reactions and first listens and stuff like that on this channel! My bias groups are Astro, EXO (and EXOCBX) and Seventeen (also SPEED but they’re disbanded) and my UB is Zhang Yixing. I also fucking LOVE Bastarz, SHINEE, Twice, Red Velvet, and Up10tion. I also watch kdramas so totally feel free to chat with me about them in the comments! And I’m fucking OBSESSED with Idol Producer (Jeffrey stan over here) so feel free to talk to me about that too lol
6. Where are your glasses from??
9 times out of 10 they’re from Firmoo.com - I have bought my own glasses from there but they also do send me free ones sometimes to be able to show you guys. I genuinely love this company and their frames - they’re PERFECT for students who need some cheap but cute frames!!

The art for Attack on Titan has improved tremendously. The author himself talked about how he was turned down multiple times due to his art style even though they like the story. Right now AoT is one of the most detailed artistic manga out there with best political drama in manga history. Edit: don't search for AoT on YT. Spoilers are infesting the platform.

I'm pretty sure BL refers to all boy's love. The word you were looking for is Shonen-ai, for the sunspots manga. Yaoi is the erotica. Though in Japan they're all synonymous, but initially were all separate and meant how we use them now. You may also like Behind Story (3 vol Shonen-ai).

Tokyo Ghoul is a masterpiece when it comes down to the manga, although indeed, the anime adaptations were rushed therefore they suck big time.

I have never read manga before, and I really want to try it. This is a great resource. I'm starting with Fullmetal Alchemist, but Orange and Death Note sound good, so I might pick those up too.

A recommendation I’d make in Fumetsu no anata he, or in English, To Your Eternity. It’s a story that follows an immortal being throughout his life. Along with being immortal, he can replicate anything that he has come into contact with, and can turn into people who have died, so long as they have made some sort of impression on him. Fairly philosophical/makes you think about the different scenarios and trials he goes through, and more than likely, it’ll make you cry. Was written by the same author that created A Silent Voice. I would highly recommend it, this is one of the first manga that made a huge impact on me, and I binged as much of it as I could and I’ve been following up with updates since I caught up.

The category "BL" isn't just for erotic bits, there are different terms for BL. Shounen ai stories typically focus on the emotional aspects of the relationships while Yaoi typically has a focus on the more sexual aspects

From literally watching I want to Eat Your Pancreas, I can for sure say it is not a Shoujo. As a male, I found myself crying soo much (trust me, I rarely have cried watching anime). Here is a thought tho, classification of shounen and shoujo is a concept that make certain genders miss out of what they could enjoy but steer away from as they believe it is not for their gender. Many series lie between both Shoujo and Shounen and also Seinen and Josei. There is no reason to classify it as a Shounen or Shoujo. Just state the premise and people who would not read it normally may find themselves intrigued. (Sorry for the ramble)

You trying to have this girl cry? I read the entire series in a single night. Once I finished I cried and cried. As much as I LOVE Inio Asano. I don't recommend it to people, or I don't recommend reading a lot of his work at the same time. It's just much stress on your mental health.

Watching your video during COVID quarantine. I see we have similar taste(Ouran High School Host Club is my FAVORITE anime of all time and I just bought the manga and Vampire Knight is a favorite manga of mine too screw the anime version of that). Thanks to your video, just bought “I want to eat your pancreas” and favorited Utsobora on ebay so I’ll snag that one later. Watched Orange(was a tear jerker) and it was amazing. Im only about halfway through your video, but thank you for making this, definitely helps me with what to read.

Lmao you know I jumped on this video straight as it appeared in my subs. I've had Orange in my sights forever but still haven't picked it up. And man I read like a volume or two of Naruto a day and it was the best month and a half ever. Do you ever read online or prefer physical? I still have a few series I want to wrap up for my collection, but after that I think I'm gonna go online or use the Shonen Jump app. I'm running out of room lol

I obviously read online for Naruto cause I HAD to keep up for fear of being spoiled. But normally I 100% prefer physical - reading on a screen hurts my eyes a lot cause I have astigmatism. Which is why I stock up on manga volumes whenever I find them for cheap! ✌🏻

I read Honey, So Sweet because of your recommendation a while back and its one of the only things I've read that has made me blush from the pure, innocent sweetness of it. OH MY GOD~ :D Love it so much. Nao and Onise are the cutest~ The art of Tsubasa still makes me weak, I ADORE IT! I need to get back into that series and read it through; I miss it so much... Naruto was the first anime/manga that I really got into and re-watching the first episode always makes me so nostalgic~ Shippuden made me a bit distraught part way through and I never completed it! T__T Someday I will! I must! I still listen to the Naruto OST to get pumped sometimes when I'm in a crap mood. LOL Is that strange?? The songs 'Morning' and 'Evening' from the OST make me want to weep with nostalgia and don't even get me started on the ACTUAL sad songs...I have a lot of emotions about Naruto. XD

You should read Inio Asano's work: Oyasumi Punpun (goodnight punpun) or A Girl on The Shore. He's like.. Haruki Murakami version but manga. At least for me ☺☺

Shoujo isn't define by romance, it's for female audience and shounen is for a male audience. You can have shoujo with no romance and fantasy and shounen with romance.

The Manga exhibition at the British Museum in London 2019 was EXCELLENT. Luckily, the museum released their own gorgeous, richly illustrated and informative companion book to the exhibition. It's come down in price considerably and can be found on Amazon etc. I highly, HIGHLY recommend buying it for everybody who wants to know more about Japanese culture and historical Manga, the different sub-genres, classic manga, how to read it, hidden artistic layout codes and illustration styles and especially the historical origins of a literary genre with deep cultural roots (as opposed to just neon-lights-Akihabara-ultra-modern vibes). Thanks for another great video...which I've only found a year and a half after the upload! :D

I'm not that into Naruto i think i would never watch the anime or read the manga but I know that feel you got for it, my favorite anime/manga of all time is Monster by Naoki Urasawa i been rewatching the anime every single summer since 2010 which is the year and the time of the year when a friend recommended it. It´s a wonderful well written story about a murderer

Out of the manga and animation of Tokyo ghoul I would suggest the animation is better for the first season but later on it misses out information and I didn't get what was going on but it's still good to keep up with :)

Best manga is Black Clover - It may seem cliche at the beginning but turns in to an awesome anime - It has get story progression which doesn't go as fast paced as other seasonal shows we fully see these characters develop - It takes the different types of elements from all the biggest animes from the planet and mixes it all to make a total master piece - The art work for the fight scenes are incredible you can actually feel the impact turning the fights its so satisfying not many manga authors are this goof at that i art work - We receive lots of background for other characters which is awesome so we know how they fit to where they are now - Plot Twist get me hyped all the time - Loverable characters - The Power System in Black Clover is on of the greatest ever in the series it makes sense and their not going to buff a characters power for the sake of plot if they are going its either because of teamwork and stratergy or being gifted with extremly high Mana (Mana is the source of the characters power making them able to perform magic attacks) Anyway Black Clover is an awesome manga series and the anime is animating on of the bastard in the series thus they doing a good job adapting it you can watch both aniem and manga (im an anime only i only recommended Black Clover because it's my favourite ongoing anime do i might as well. I 100% recommend to give the series a try its great

Tokyo ghouls anime doesn’t follow the manga you have been lied to lmao the anime tries to fit a million chapters in 12 episodes and skips chapters from the manga Tokyo ghoul anime is garbage compared to the manga, And they do get to the basement in attack In titan and it’s really good imo.

I love Berserk. Just got into it a few months back. I'm very unuse to manga. While I have read a lot, I just started collecting them. If I had a favorite, it would be Berserk. Great story. Great characters. Fantastic artwork. Very surreal and macabre. I think the one thing that turns people off of it is the overbearing graphic warnings. Even though it's definitely violent, it's also an existential type of drama.

K - CAKE ! I haven’t read the entirety of Sakura cardcaptor but I’ve read the first few volumes. It’s for a much younger audience at the beginning than any other CLAMP universe manga. If you enjoy much cuter more wholesome manga sure definitely check it out

Did you end up getting promised neverland? Or any other manga? I cannot recommend promised neverland considering i only watched the anime. I do recommend gravitation though . Its a 12 volume manga about this guy who falls in love with another guy after he picked up his song lyrics. After that they become in love and follow trough different concerts. Its a very fun read :)

Watch one piece everyone. The editors of one piece said if you dont catch up to wano soon enough you will be spoiled in social media because it will be blowing. Its going to be the best arc of anime history. One of one piece arcs is the best anime arcs ever but this current arc would beat that one too
