You are cracking me up because I haven't seen anyone else as excited as I am about shampooing and styling their hair. I wasn't using an anti-humidity topper, but I've realized that in my climate it is needed more in the winter when we have a lot of moisture in the air from the fog. Our summers are hot and dry instead of hot and humid. I really like the Kinky-Curly and the Treluxe systems. Some people seem to have a problem with flaking with Treluxe but so far I have not had that issue and I'm on my second purchase. Kinky-Curly I've been using for my WnG since 2008 I keep it in rotation. BTW: I added to the comment regarding sodium hydroxide.

That’s so interesting that you use the anti humidity topper in the winter. I haven’t tried the treluxe hair products yet because I heard about the flaking issue. I may have to revisit the website and chea I out the complete system again. Have you tried Curl Mix? I know a lot of people rave about their system as well.

@@itstruedestiny Our fog gets very heavy during winter. We've already had days where you couldn't even see across the street. The anti-humidity topper really helps in this weather. Yes, I've tried Curl Mix. They recently changed their system. I still have the old Lavender system and I like it. I have not tried the new system. What they did was change the #4 (gel} part of the system. Now it has four different levels of hold. So you can get light, medium, heavy, or ultra hold.

So to answer your question about sodium hydroxide answer…. Most relaxers contain 5-10% of lye what’s in shampoo is probably less than 0.2%. Essentially it should not affect your hair like a relaxer would. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the insight. I asked the salon and they didn’t really have too much of an answer for me so far.

Agreed, it's also used to denature and help emulsify oils in a product. Many bar soaps and shampoo bars use sodium hydroxide in their manufacturing. By the time the product is fully made there is very little sodium hydroxide left as most of it is used up during processing. Since it's the very last ingredient in the product it's highly unlikely that it would have a negative effect on the hair.

As for the sodium hydroxide, I personally would rather not use a product with lye. I don’t think it’s toxic or harmful in that concentration, but I’m not sure if it’s a chemical that builds up or compounds over repeated use, which could affect the hair. Unfortunately your Briogeo mask also has sodium hydroxide at the end 🫣 I haven’t tried the Kure shampoo but I loved their mask, but dimethicone is high up on the ingredients list and I’m not sure about using such a heavy silicone, although I don’t deep condition often so it might be fine. The innersense hydrating hair bath and conditioner were some of my faves, just so expensive 😭 I’m using LUS right now at the rec of my curl specialist buddy Kia the curl consultant and I love them. Plus they’re closer to $15-20

I didn’t realize the mask had it as well. I definitely haven’t end these products as much as I used to. I talked to another stylist and they didn’t really have too much of opinion about sodium hydroxide in the products because of the concentration. I still use it occasionally though. I use the Kure from time to time but dimethicone is pretty high up on the ingredient list. When using it heavily, I definitely clarify more often, but I haven’t been leaning towards innersense more often

For some reason the kure conditioner made my hair soft but frizzy. I loved the shampoo though

I like the conditioner but AG conditioner is definitely better. I plan to repurchase the shampoo when I run out. I’m not sure if I’ll repurchase the conditioner or not. I’m just a sucker for AG and Innersense combo lol.

I know my stylers were UFD curly magic, Innersense I create hold and Ouidad Advanced Climate Control. I don’t remember what I washed my hair with before styling.

Hey sis Please have you tried Camille rose products?
@itstruedestiny
@itstruedestiny Год назад
I have! In the past I did enjoy the products, I definitely feel like the products aren’t the same as they used to be. I used to like the curl maker but it became sticker in my opinion. I stopped using Camille Rose because their products are really heavy with butters and oils. I’m currently not using any products that heavy because it weighs down the hair. I haven’t tried the original shampoo but I have heard great things about it. Hope this helps 💕
