I feel like we can all agree on how much we love the "fuck you clivesdale" and "who will pray for you" parts. They live rent free in my head. Also maybe the reason we all find the summoning so addictive is because the lords are getting into our heads?
I have a personal headcanon that Wiggly talks in a deeper voice because there's no way that Steph, Pete, and Grace would be scared if he sounded the way he did in Black Friday.
The thing not nearly enough people talk about is the choreography. Lauren got to flex more than a decade of professional stage experience and turn it into some of the most memorable choreo Starkid has ever had.
One of the fun things I noticed during the part of “High School Is Killing Me” where the howling starts is Grace Chasity making the sign of the cross in the background
it will never not get me how they made the super religious character sing 'who will pray for you?' - and it wasn't who will pray for me, as it had been earlier, it's you. to some extent i think there's the interpretation that max had some kind of understanding of his wrongdoings, perhaps that came in death. grace though? i don't see any of that. in her eyes, *you're* the bad guy. and it's her job to deal with you. i think that's what's truly sinister about her - the lack of responsibility she takes for her questionable actions. maybe that's why they're so questionable in the first place: she doesn't care about the consequences.
At 4:45 when he says *'Until another Richie comes along'* I believe he's projecting *onto* Richie how he feels about his own death. As it's seen, nobody misses Max, nobody mourns for him and nobody seems to really care that he's gone. He *knows* nobody will mourn for him when they find out he's dead.(At this point in the musical, nobody knows he's dead and just assumes that he's missing . .) He's replaceable and *knows it.* At another part in the musical, he says something along the lines of "I knew I was going to peak in high school *something something*"(I have a horrible memory, don't @ me if I get the wording wrong). He knew this was going to be his peak, that after high school was done nobody would care about him. And I think that *scares him.* It scares him that he won't be remembered so he tries to make his mark in a horrible way, to scare people weaker then him so his memory lives on in them even if it's in a horrible light. "Who will pray for me when I'm gone?" Was most likely one of the last thoughts that went through his head, both when he first died and when The Lords In Black took him to drowsy town. He's scared. Under all of it he's *scared* because he knows nobody cares about him. Anyways Im thinking too much about it so Im probably wrong
Thanks but Im thinking of a different line I think!! Later in the musical Max says something else about peaking in high school . . "I was worried about peaking in high school but since you killed me I dont have to worry about it anymore" or something along those lines . . I'll probably rewatch the muscial again and try to find it . .
what i really like about Nerdy Prudes Must Die, specifically during the “who will pray for me, when i’m gone”, is Max completely trauma dumping on richie, KNOWING no one would care that he died. IT GIVES ME CHILLS.
3:07 tryna figure out if i do or dont hate this song, cause it gives heavy Dead Girl Walking from Heathers and i can never decide whether i hate or love THAT song
10:17 the guitar and the pacing of the vocals reminds me of 'she got arrested' by the interrupters. specifically the last verse "told her story, jury heard it/deliberating for a verdict." though i feel like there is another song thats similar but i can't pin that one quite as easily lol on a side note the tap shoes part of just for once kills me inside every time :') it is SO real
It's very interesting how Joey as Peter looks totally different from his other characters. It took me A LOT OF TIME to realize that Pete actor = Ted actor + the mustache guy singing in the hatchet town. I tried to see other character's faces in Peter and I am failing to do so every single time. I get impressed every time I see other characters acted by him.
Despite the fact that it originally made me uncomfortable, I'm kind of obsessed with it now, lol. The harmonies, the motifs, the religious under and overtones, its slowly become one of my favorites
I love this video but I'd like to ask what your thoughts on the musical were, it seems like you really only liked three songs as everything else wasn't your favorite. Sorry if I'm misinterpreting that.
I really like the musical, it’s just not a lot of the songs were my favorite. Don’t get me wrong, they still are really good! They just aren’t my favorite. Overall I really like the musical.
OH MY GOD THE VICTORIOUS THEME its the victorious theme meets blink-182 edit: the victorious theme copied off of "the embassy"'s homework. song seems to be you want it, you need it
Most of the songs aren't masterpieces (they're good but ya know what I mean) BUT GOD will they get stuck in your head and they have insane repeatability.
