VLC preamp and VNE compressor combo examples on rap and r&b vocals. With the help from these beautifully hand crafted machines by hazelrigg industries, I am able to dial in the pocket for these vocals quick and easy.
In this video I give a brief example of 2 different songs that were recorded through these units along with the u87ai. I also showcase the sm7b with different eq settings on the VLC.

Is the tone more on the vintage or modern sound? Thinking about getting the plugin but I record a lot of modern rap and rnb.

@@8BKV honestly it’s versatile for pretty much anything. I used the plug-in on one of my latest videos to get the vocals to sit brighter.

How would you say it compares tone wise to a 1073 or ssl pre. Thanks for answering my questions.

@@8BKV the 1073 definitely has an exaggerated top end that can be too much sometimes. The vlc has more of a smooth and musical top end when the high boost is turned up. I'm not too familiar with the ssl pre but all of these are great options. However, I find more flexibility with the vlc and I can typically pull out whatever tone I want with the built in eq.
