I absolutely agree with you on the Athlon. I mentioned before. Mine is on a PTR/H&K 91 rifle. It is very compact. And it doesn’t interfere with the charging handle. It’s as if it was made for it. And it has held up. Plus like you said it is an amazing scope for the money. Your channel is the best on RU-vid when it comes to optic reviews. I hope that you and your family have a great Christmas.
I bought one a couple years back at something like $560-575. I predict you will be very happy, great simple reticle, clear glass, and illuminated dot can be as bright as your eyes can tolerate.
That would be good. How is the ladder reticle, do your eyes like it okay? On paper it looks a bit cluttered but I haven't looked through one, might be good in actual view. Obviously made for field 2-way range, or at least IPSC full size target courses, so it will be ignored by the Bench Rest LPVO crew.
I bought an Athlon 2-12 after seeing your review. Got to do some 200+ yard shooting with it, and the consensus was unanimous. Everyone that used it loved it. Even over some higher tier, more than double the price similar MPVO scopes. I squirm as its made in China, but if I wasn't looking at the label I wouldn't care. I bought 2 more, yes I now have 3. That's how much I liked this optic.

Thanks for the summary, thanks for mentioning the maximum point blank range zero idea as well. Too many people think it's an Elmer Fudd idea, rather than a very practical thing hunters have known for a long long time.

@@BlackCloud0351 It's one of those inevitable results when people take bench racing way too far. It's fun to pass the time, but when taken seriously and bench racers start talking like they've run the 1/4 mile hundreds of times when they're still virgins on the asphalt, that's kooky. There's a whole bunch of places on the internet where that's the driving motive, bench racing one upmanship. "Flexing" on "poors" just because you spent on the forum's latest must-have. Buying and collecting, or buying and selling... range? What, people go there? And don't just dump mags into a berm?

Acog and Accupoint 1-6x has been an optic I’ve been wanting and looking at for a long time. Mainly the durability of Trijicon combined with no electronics/batteries.

I'm also a big fan of the GLx 2x for 0-120yrds. Have you checked out the $200 Burris FullField IV 2-10x? Not bad for the change. I'm running one on an appalachian dmr rig.
I bought a Primary Arms GLX 2x prism. The view through this optic is wonderful. So is the reticle. However, the mount is too high for any non-AR rifle unless it has an adjustable cheek rest - even with the lowest mount possible.
@@heydaddy6817 I put the optic directly on the part that clamps to a rail. Is there a way to mount it to the receiver? Because I put it on a Marlin 336 on an EGW rail and had absolutely no cheek weld. It works fine with a Ranger Point Precision stock and the cheek riser though.

I'm glad people think so. I've enjoyed making them so far. If the footprint works on a mount then I don't see why not. I'd much rather have a closed emitter red dot anyway to help prevent water from getting on the emitter
@cdoes The closed vs open emitter has become a hot topic much like 9mm vs .45,maybe you could do a video on them the pros and cons and best ones in your opinion.
LOL, Hop's "effeminate" arms (hah!) - Hop IS a permanent bookmark for many of us but he does have some standard unique only unto himself - among them a disdain for scopes over a certain weight on rifles that he might have too much weight on already.
Awesome video the only thing about the LPVOs in my opinion is the Sig tango is better for a few reason it’s comes with the mounting bracket and the optic is more clearer just my opinion.
Some people have got mounts with the nova direct from Pa. IDK if that was a deal they were running out what. Either which way I can definitely understand where you come from. I still run my msr on my trainer 457

I hope someone sends your a meopta meostar r2 to test. They fit the mpvo category and from i have seen are amazing. Wondering what you'd think if you ever got to review one of them. Particularly the 1.7-10×42 or 2-12×50
Meopta have a good reputation in Europe but are mostly under-radar in USA. Great reputation for low-light clarity, especially the Dichro models for hunters. Would love to see our host review one of their 6 series midprice or the Meostar upper tier.
I complained about the btr gen 2 a long time ago to you however I've been pretty happy with mine. The fact that the elevation turret double clicks isn't relevant I don't dial the scope anyway. I want to put my two cents in. The one moa center dot really doesn't matter unless you dial. If you're shooting at distance you'll be using everything but the center dot. If you're close enough to use the center dot the target will be big enough it doesn't even matter. I wish they would make a gen 3. The exact same thing except capped turrets. It would be nice to have a piggy back dot that's not 12 foot above your barrel lol. The reticle really is the star of the show! Its pretty phenomenal! Merry Christmas!!
There is a section when rotating the elevation turret that it will double click. 2 clicks per 1 detent. I warrantied the scope and it came back with the exact same problem. I haven't used the turrets enough to see if it causes a tracking problem. Haven't heard of many others with this problem but I sure got it twice in a row.........if you twist the turret fast enough you won't notice it as. bad.
Question.... and im going to ask the impossible....is there a scope with something like 1-10x, or 2-12x, 3-15x (im trying to find greater magnification and hopefully clarity than my vortex 1-8x strike eagle), that is Lightweight (say sub 20 ounces), has a BDC or better yet a grid pattern reticle, and costing sub $800 (lower the better of course lol), that is actually good quality? The only ones if found that hit all those boxes are usually the off brand Chinese junk, that doesn't actually do what it claims.... Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Primary Arms GLx 2.5-10x44 FFP offers both a BDC for common calibers and a tree style Mil reticle for sub $800. Everything I have seen about it, it looks very good and has a lifetime warranty. Athlon Helos Gen2 2-12x42 also comes well recommended from several forums for sub $800, but I have no personal experience with the brand. Both optic are worth looking into considering your question.
Just found your channel recently and subscribed. Great stuff! I just picked up a Tavor X95 (5.56) and am struggling between going with the PA SLX 3X or the Vortex Spitfire 3X Gen 2. Or even a PA SLX 1X with a magnifier. Primary use would be range/courses and secondary as home defense. Recommendation?
@@juncho1977that was a fantastic video. And that video raised my question between the PA and Vortex 3X; the issue with PA 3X here in SoCal is that I can’t find any retailer that carries it, unlike the Vortex.
@@DTF2009I would get the PA 3x for the superior illumination and reticle, shake awake, etc. You will need to order it from PA. The reticle on the Vortex 3x is very inferior. If you were asking about a 5x prism I might advise going the other way, with the Vortex not the PA. Our man C’s reviews seem to show that the Vortex 5x has much better glass quality than the PA, and the 5x Vortex reticle is not bad.
I did a few presentations with someone else's compact 9mm wearing ACRO P2. I already was using an EPS full size 6 MOA. I was considering the ACRO P2 until those few presentations. Something about the small window and large housing gave me a strange claustrophobic feel and the dot was too precise / small for me to enjoy with my old eyes. I've tried a Holosun 509T so it wasn't just the mailbox profile I'm talking about here. I would say it's a lot like how on my PCC, I prefer the big HS 510 window over a HS 403 tube, which feels claustrophobic by comparison. I know that when target focused it (the claustrophobia) should not be an issue, I've been running RDS 3 yrs now so it's not just new user stuff I'm saying. I prefer the EPS, whether it proves as durable as Aimpoints traditionally have been? Don't know but it works well enough that I got a few more, and an EPS Carry as well. I used EPS last season and this year's season in USPSA, I like it a lot w/ 6 MOA dot.
In fairness to the ACRO P2's actual sight picture -- it's super clear, dot is sharp. But the EPS era Holosuns have magically reduced their bluegreen tint, to my eyes at least. The EPS is pretty neutral and the dot is pretty distinct.
Yo C_Does have you gotten your hands on the PA Special Purchase 1-6? I just got my hands on mine and would love to see a comparison between the regular gen 4 SLX 1-6. Supposedly it’s a Gen 4 “GLX”
My money is on the Athlon for your scope of the year because of its well rounded usability, application, and price for the quality and features that it offers
