not every bed will be perfect, especially when they're new beds! As long as you're paying attention and fixing whatever the problem is, your beds will only get better with time!

Hello, good sir. Thanks for keeping all these helpful videos coming, as you do. Wondering if you could share your irrigation set up for greenhouses and caterpillar tunnels during winter and early spring, when there is still a chance of freezing temperatures?

Looks amazing as always! Congrats on the arrival of spring. I know the feeling of finally getting some sun and warm temps. It must be rough having such long winters up there. Down here in zone 6a, we're already seeing leaves on trees and wild flowers all around. So glad to see spring!

@@TheMarketGardeners We have done a cross of touchstone gold with a vigorous red beetroot. This season we will have our first generation of our new yellow variety which should have added vigour. Let us know if you would like a sample to try in a few years when we have refined the variety.

Why clear plastic and not black plastic for the outdoor field? I guess the clear warms the soil even more?
@TheMarketGardeners
@TheMarketGardeners Год назад
Yes the clear plastic warms the soil and black plastic is for blocking the light. Usually we will put black plastic over top of clear plastic in the fall, and then as soon as the snow melts in spring we pull the black plastic off and then the clear will warm the soil quickly.
@seblheureux765

Do you think that the degradation of plastic over the course of spring releases harmful chemicals into the soil an issue?
@soilforhumanity

Everything is looking great! When you have uniformity issues like with the Tatsoi, is your solution only to level out and add compost? Do you ever use any type of natural soil amendments to boost the soil microbiology?
@TheMarketGardeners
@TheMarketGardeners Год назад
Yes we use amendments all the time! Alfalfa meal and pelleted chicken manure are two that we use on many crops
