Good advice about buying a guitar, Jason. Buy it based on sound and play-ability, not by looks, popularity, or in this case it's name. Personally, I think play-ability is most important as sound can be upgraded to some extent as you have demonstrated here. Thanks for sharing.
i have this guitar but its called the Dano-Blaster. Released in 1997. 4 Built in effects. The distortion chip they used is the worst but the chorus, echo and flange effects are top notch. A GREAT surf guitar.
Of course people listen with their eyes for many many years now.Les Paul had the same problem with the log, because people listen with their eyes that's why he did what he did!By the way i really like that guitar, sounds great,and the build i effects aren't bad at all👍
I’ve got one of these! I bought it new in 2000. Same model, except mine is 3-tone (Fender-style) sunburst. Paid just a hair under $200 brand-new, and I got a Road Runner hardshell case with it. It was half the price of the reissue singlecut Danelectro baritone-doesn’t look as vintage, but so what! It’s a cool guitar! And I don’t think it’s ugly at all.
I love the chorus sound on that thing! I was wondering if you would consider doing remote session playing for a recording. That might be a cool side hustle?
I have an ugly Ibanez that is flesh color, but it plays really well. The plan is to paint it green and upgrade parts, but the longer I have it the more I like it the way it is
Lol... Since the late 70's, I thought Tele's were the ugliest guitar on the planet! Could not comprehend the look or the tone. 5 years ago I got my first one. I now own 4. Late to the party I guess. Thanks!
When I was a kid I hated a lot of things: Telecasters, country music, cilantro. I too have come around, though I don’t have a tele yet. I totally fell in love with a store exclusive at guitar center a couple years ago, a purple road worn tele with maple fret board. Maybe one day
“Mother of toilet seat pickguard…” Hilarious. My cheapie that keeps on giving is a Squier P-bass. Replaced the trash tuners, gave it flatwounds, and it’s fine.
I like it but i have a thing for tacky guitars and basses. Also the fuzz is the Flashback Fuzz, the most hated dano pedal. Itd be way cooler if it was the French Toast, an octave fuzz.
It's far from the ugliest guitar I've seen. A bit of black spray paint around the edges could make it be a decent three-color sunburst. Built in effects are a pretty stupid idea, except for the tremolo speed control - that makes good sense. That fuzz just sounded God-awful. The chorus was ok, but a mix control would be very useful; who wants that deep a chorus all the time?
