Over the last 1 year I have been trying lots of different hijabs and accessories and to find what I like has been very much trial and error.
In this video I show you what I use under my hijab, the scrunchies I love and the best hijab undercaps I love plus hijab magnets.
Then I share which hijabs I wear most and why and what I recommend to you if you are getting used to wearing hijab too or want to start wearing it, for example Jersey is a great material to start with whereas if you start with chiffon or satin, you're going to find it difficult!

Sister I have found an amazing product to help you it’s “fashion tape” you place it on your bonnet then press chiffon hijab down and it stays in place all day and does not damage the scalf either xxx

Great video Ellie.....the underscarf situation is real! I've done the same and bought so many that have been terrible quality and just slip, taking my scarf with it. I stopped wearing an underscarf but it means I have some hijabs in my drawer that I don't wear as they do need something underneath to stop them slipping. I've ordered some of the Duck ones as they look good quality. I haven't been brave enough to try silk hijabs yet although they look so lovely xx

Silk is great for those special occasions, but it's hot in summer. Anything with a loose weave is good! Chiffon which I use, works with a stretch lace undercap I get from ebay. I use chiffon extensively in the summer; dress up, dress down, inexpensive so you can buy a lot of them, wash and dry in delicates laundry bag. They're quite durable, actually. Lots of colors. Best chiffon comes from Haute Hijab, but I've bought everywhere. Im a typical older American doing my best to save my hair, and to cover bad hair days.

So helpful and lovely video.The best under scarf is made of pure cotton , it is healthy for your hair and doesn't slip the hijab and very comfortable. I am from Egypt and I have been a hijabi for 20 years so this is my experience.

Way to go, Ellie! I am a revert and I also started wearing my hijab about a year ago and it’s been a journey. I totally relate to it being a little hard to see yourself covered for the first few times. It took me a while and I actually show some hair as well to get more comfortable. Not having anybody to guide you makes it a little harder but I have slowly become more used to it and I feel the hijab as part of me now. When I stated, I actually wore chiffons 😂 and then I slowly transitioned to jerseys for daily use because it took me so long to put them on, haha. InshAllah Allah will make wearing the hijab easy for us and reward our intentions!

Hi Ellie...I have following you here and there for quite some time and just first want to say, thank you for your wealth of knowledge. You have helped me more than you know, and I am grateful for you Masha Allah. I am a Western woman with Pakistani parents. Growing up, my father used to make us dress very modestly, almost in an "old-fashioned" American style with long dresses with humongous collars made by my mom. I was picked on a lot in school by my peers, and started dressing more immodestly as soon as I had the freedom to do so. Recently though, I reconnected with Islam, started praying 5 times a day, and now feel that my internal belief has grown to a point where I want to express my Islam more openly. I really appreciate your advice to take things step by step, as that is the way I think Allah truly meant us to do. Only then can we appreciate each "addition" we make to our modesty. I just recently started wearing hijab and agree that we all have to make hijab work for us with our own personal style. You look beautiful Masha Allah in your hijab. You are lovely inside and out! Keep up the great work you do for the Ummah. May Allah be pleased with you and grant you Jannah, Ameen

I totally agree the jersey fabric is great. Not only does it sit better and not slip, you can wear it without pins and it’s not see through.

Ellie try not folding the chiffon at the front of your head, so it’s only a single layer of fabric hopefully it will sit a bit better that way x

Hi Ellie, thanks for sharing your collection, was very interesting to watch. just one thing stuck in my mind is that you used the word opaque for a transparent material several times in this video. just wanted to ask if this was just a human error, or this word somehow also means transparent (P.S. I am not a native speaker, so hearing it from a native a bit confused me)

So thrilled to catch this show! I've used many different under caps, the cotton ones work the best, but the slinky blends work if I pin it all to my bun scrunchie. I wear the chiffon, the jersey is too hot for me in summer. I really love the style that's coming out of Malaysia, where DUCK originates! I have a couple super scrunchies, which I just wear alone. Under hijab though, if you need a pin, the taffeta is Very hard to pierce through! For pinning onto my bun, I will use a straight rhinestone tipped pin with a safety cap. A little twinkle to hold the whole mess in place. If you wear chiffon as I do, you need an undercap if you dont want your delicate hair scrubbed and broken. Yeah, it's a must. The pins, too. Basically, when you drape that chiffon on top of your underscarf, drop anchor immediately by pinning to your bun scrunchie. I use magnets in matte colors on the side above my ears. Chiffon doesnt stay tied, so I use ponytail elastic to get it done. Easier on the fabric, adjustable, doesn't come undone! Chiffon dresses up, dresses down, with jeans and flannel shirts, tunics, your regular street attire! Thanks again, I'm looking forward to the next show, and products! How about the extra long tube style undercap from Middle Eastern Mall? Adding to this post, stretch lace undercaps from Ebay, $6.00ea., have been a real lifesaver under the chiffon!

You can try wearing a headband, usually made of elastic jersey material. After that, just wear a scarf or hijab on it.

How do you stop the under-hijab piece from slipping back as they usually do when they are behind hairline so actually on hair. They don't stick well on hair ..

I thought the hijab was supposed to be worn for modesty -- hiding the beauty of your hair --- not as a fashion statement or simply a different way to display your beauty.

Why? She is a unique, have a tattoo under her hand and she not a perfect Muslim so everything is ok. I must confess, i try to refrain but once a year i eat pork once or twice.

Brother or sister in Islam...hijab is for modesty. But there is nothing wrong with it ALSO looking presentable. All women want to look presentable and nice. So experiment away with fabrics and colors is what I say!

Not telling you what to do.but if you want to observe real hijab not just a piece of cloth sister please research what Hijab is for women according to quran and sunnah.how should the dresses be.how much can be shown.I'm not going to say you're doing it right or wrong now.just do the research yourself and ask yourself if you're doing it right.

Looking elegant and choosing colours that suit you , is about looking nice and therefore noticeable and attractive. That's not the point of hijab , surely. You.might as well uncover your hair as try to make yourself look attractive IN a hijab . Especially if you're going to wear make up so that you look more attractive when your hair , the natural colour source round your face , is covered. It's just become a fashion talking point and interest .

@@gillsladdin6868 No man will consider a woman more attractive in hijab than without hijab. They are sexual creatures and want to see the hair, body, etc. There is nothing wrong with a woman looking presentable and nice in hijab. After all, that is how Allah has created every woman.

The university of copenhagen said wearing hijab stops the skin from absorbing natural light which leads to irregular sleep patterns - Low Energy - Mental illness - Weaker Bones - Weaker Immune System - Weight Gain - High Blood Pressure - Nearsightedness - Higher Cancer Risk. This very troubling.

@@moonlit.michelle Not according to any scientific research or study I am aware of. “The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency across the Arab world is far too high,” says Khitam Mohammad, a professor in the department of midwifery at the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Studies have consistently shown that more than 70 percent of Arab women are vitamin D deficient. Female hair loss is also higher in Muslim women than any other female demographic due to hijab.
