If you're interested, I *HIGHLY* recommend checking out Outer Wilds. It's my second favorite game of all time, and I feel like you'd just really enjoy it thoroughly with the story and exploration. The ending sequence in particular goes so hard.
Thank you for covering Before Your Eyes! It’s genuinely great and is an emotional rollercoster, it’s one of the only games to make me cry. I’m so glad more people will know about it thanks to you
Had a friend who played a good amount of Celeste, and while I never got into the game myself, it did seem interesting, especially in regards to the characters and story. Maybe I'll check it out for myself some day, but who knows.
Always neat to see your thoughts on different media. I haven't watched Minus One yet but I plan on getting to it in the near future. Looking forward to this list again next year, wonder where Frieren's gonna be on it. Seriously if you haven't checked out Frieren yet please do.
@@BiffWeed Neat. I've watched you for a few years now and you kinda seem to have similar tastes to mine in terms of media so I think you won't be disappointed with Frieren (& Dungeon Meshi from what I've heard). Frieren has quickly become one of my favourite anime protagonists, she's pretty well written IMO.
I hear her talked about as the same kind of overpowered protagonist as Saitama, Mob and Saiki so if she’s anything like them I’m sure I’ll really like her
Great work as always with these videos it’s nice to see you and nem do these videos with how much variety there is and just seeing stuff like this talked about keep up the good work Also since I figured I’d give a little recommendation I’ve been playing this game called bloodstained ritual of the night lately it’s basically a fan made tribute to castlevania like how freedom planet was for sonic and yooka-laylee was for banjo kazooie and even as someone who has never played a single castlevania game I’ve grown to love it and it’s probably amongst my favourite games ever right up there with smash ultimate Mario party superstars and the ori duology it’s got some very fun gameplay some very cool customisation involving what you can use and some entertaining characters I highly recommend it
Here are my Top 12 Favorite Pieces of Media I saw last year #12 Super Mario Bros Wonder #11 The Last of Us TV Show #10 Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order #9 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass #8 Celeste #7 Undertale #6 The Owl House #5 The Nightmare Before Christmas #4 Amphibia #3 Spider Man Across The Spiderverse #2 Death Battle Season 10 #1 Marvel’s Spider Man (2018) (One of my top 3 favorite games of all time)
Seeing as you enjoy games that can get emotional and have powerful endings, then I HIGHLY recommend Wandersong! It’s a puzzle platformer that is also my all time FAVORITE game of all time, it has a ton of quirky and charming characters, but also has moments that stop that quirkiness and talks about the complexity of these characters and the situations they’re put into. It’s not too terribly long of a game, but it’s still a beautiful time and I hope you check it out someday!
If you wanna try more Kirby out, Forgotten Lands is (in my opinion, at least) the best Kirby game currently out there. Also, while I haven't seen Love is War, I will always question why they dubbed season 2 before dubbing season 1.
I feel like if you really like Celeste and you want another inde game to check out, go for Hades. It's personally my favorite game of all time with it having similar strengths to Celeste. Fun and likable characters, the music, one of the best art styles in any game with some of the greatest character designs I've ever seen, a difficulty curve that you can bestow on yourself, some of the most fun and addicting action in any game that just screams customization per run, and a fantastic main story with side quests that tie into the central theme on love, whether it'd be romantic, platonic, or familial. If you have any interest in Greek Myths you'll likely love this game, and with Zagreus being a character Death Battle really wants to do an episode on, and a sequel that is on the way in the next year or two, now is the perfect time to check it out.
If you like Celeste, I'd highly recommend checking out Wandersong and/or Chicory: A Colorful Tale. They're both much easier than Celeste, but they also spend more time on the story. Wandersong's my favorite game of all time, but Chicory is probably better overall.
Kinda funny how we both watched Celeste last year and both considered it one of our favorite things ever after playing it. Glad you enjoyed it though, and great list all around.
The amount of Community voice clips is amazing since that itself is something I started watching last year. Planet Robobot being number 4 is awesome too as well, even after beating Forgotten Land and Dream Land Deluxe it's still my favourite Kirby game. P.S. I can't believe I scale above Biff Weed now this is so cool.
Community is one of my 3 personality traits so I will take every opportunity to put it in a video. Those other two Kirby games are on my radar as well, Planet Robobot really got me wanting to explore this series more.
This was so much fun to see. Scott Pilgrim, Spiderverse, and the Batman movie are all great things to have came out this year. For recommendations… I have one for both Web show and video game I recall you watched BFDI, so how about an object show called Battle for Grandma? It’s super fun and only an hour watch. For video games, I’ve loved playing OwlBoy. The visuals, music, characters- everything is a cherry on top when it comes to indie gaming. Definitely recommend.
This was just as fun to watch as your list for 2022. I also have a recommendation for you, not only my personal favorite piece of media I checked out in 2023, but one of my favorite pieces of media ever,if not outright favorite, Doctor Who.
biff weed being a love is war fan was nowhere close to being on my bingo this year but i’m all for it it’s personally my top 1 anime ever as for recommendations i dont recall if you ever talked about this series or peeped it already but if you want another really expressive and fun slice of life anime then i recommend nichijou it’s really REALLY good in the humor and animation compartment. i feel like it’ll be your cup of tea
Nichijou is top of my watchlist rn, every clip I’ve seen from it goes hard and some friends have given it glowing recommendations. I’d planned to get to it last year but just didn’t have the time
If you're interested, I highly recommend checking out either "The Amazing Digital Circus" or "Murder Drones". "The Amazing Digital Circus" is pretty good and even surpasses Disney's modern movies like "Wish". "Murder Drones" (my personal favorite) has a great cast of characters, an impactful story, and some comedic moments. I could go on and on about this, but all I can say is that N and Uzi are a really good couple. They went from trying to kill each other to now deeply caring about each other and it's freakin adorable! >:3
Celeste is top 5 games of all time easy. If you’re looking for other indie games that are as good if not better Hades and Hollow Knight (despite how obvious those picks are) are absolute masterpieces if you haven’t tried them
Really really glad you enjoyed Celeste so much! It’s a game that I played during a really low point in my life and Madeline/Badeline’s story resonated with me perfectly. It’s my favorite piece of media and I’m always glad when people play it for the first time.
Omg it’s out!! I’ve followed your twitter thread and this has been an eagar wait. Before Your Eyes looks fun and is the only thing I didn’t know about beforehand Seeing Scott Pilgrim, Guardians and Spiderverse was satisfying too as they were highlights of the year. And the Celeste segment really is making me wanna redownload it lol. For recommendations..hm, I’ll say Cowboy Bebop, I picked it back up and it quickly jumped into my top three anime and I want someone else to feel the way this show made me feel. Of course that’s if you’re interested. Also Batman:TAS is definitely worth checking out if you like Mask Of The Phantasm
AAAAAAAAAA BEFORE YOUR EYES REPRESENTATION!!! I'm a sucker for indie games and any media with funky ways to interact with them, but paring a gimmick as extreme as controlling the game by blinking with a heart wrenching story and amazing writing is just... WHY DOESN'T THIS GAME GET MORE ATTENTION!? 😭
I recommend playing Fuga Melodies of Steel 1 and 2. I randomly played them and ended up falling in love so if you like lovable characters and fun and challenging turn based gameplay, then check it out
Biff Weed I think you’d like Journey. It’s a pretty short game but has a phenomenal atmosphere and gameplay that’s really creative and continues to innovate itself with each new area. This is one of the few games I can just sit back and admire how beautiful it really is. One of the gaming experiences I’ll cherish for the rest of my life
Awesome vid as always. This is so making me want to check out Celeste for myself now And of course if I can suggest something then its obviously Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2 or 3
A game I REALLY gotten in to is Lobotomy Corp and its sequel Library of Ruina due to their characters and monsters being some of the most memorable things I’ve seen (also the fandom being sleeper agents more in your face than JoJo fans is funny to me)
If you liked Chainsaw Man I can't recommend the author's other work of Goodbye Eri enough, one of the most resonating stories I experienced in a year that already had Everything Everywhere all at once in it, and it's a short enough read
Love is War is my personal favorite anime of all time, no contest for me. Glad to see you enjoyed it. Play Risk of Rain 2 if you haven’t already- such a fun game!
Since I don’t want to go too in-depth since I feel like you should really watch these for yourself, here’s some stuff I recommend: Generator Rex Max Steel Transformers Murder Drones Jujutsu Kaisen Blue Beetle Sonic 2 Transformers: Rise of The Beasts Ready Player One Percy Jackson OFF
@@BiffWeed bro I read the manga of the arc and holy shit, I’m so fucking excited. It’s insanely long and apparently they’re going up to the final fight, idk if you read it I don’t wanna spoil but dude it’s LIFECHANGING
