More diversity in musicals pls! Shows like Hamilton, and Hairspray aside where race is part of the narrative, there are countless shows where you could be one eyed and blue and play a character well. Break the mould and don't be afraid to cast someone who maybe doesn't look like every other actor who's played the role before.
I know this is a two year old comment but check out “natasha pierre and the great comet of 1812” and “hadestown”! They both are fantastic musicals with colorblind casts!
Amen! Notice how little kids never question the prince having parents of different races from him? Imagine how much better the world would be if we could learn from kids.
As a child, I had no clear concept of race or ethnicities, so I never questioned how a white man and black woman had a Filipino son. However, all I realized was that there was this guy who kinda looked like me. I had never seen a brown male protagonist in an American movie before (at that time) and for some reason it made me surprisingly happy. I was happy that I could relate to this character. I know it doesn't seem too significant, but diversity in casting really does allow children like myself to engage more in media and feel noticed. I could envision myself in the story and it allowed me to imagine my own happily ever after.
OMG paolo is so handsome. He makes me gasp for air every time I see him, and this almost never happens to me lol. How did she compose herself having such a beautiful man sing and exert his love for her in this film I will never know.
I absolutely love how Cinderella is black and the fairy godmother AND the queen!! All by lovely women! Every time I show someone this movie, they ask, “Why’s Cinderella black?” And I just shake my head. And my response is always, “Why can’t she be black?”
Britt Weasley palo I wish they were real person my birthday Lacey Stanley favetre gril franed Cinderella benday MY song bauscdoyou love you beautiful my favorite
The chemistryyyyy. I missedbit when i was little but GWORLLLLL Paolo definitely was feeling Brandy in this moment yah hear. That shoulder touch... chileeeeeee
My heart races everytime I see the Prince. He is so handsome and his singing makes me want to be his princess! This movie makes me wish I can date an Asian/Filippino guy in the future.
Lol, I'm all for diverse representation (a main reason why I love this film) but I don't know if looking for specifically Asian men to date because of it is the way to go. Date someone because you like THEM not simply because of their skin. If the only reason someone approached me romantically is because of my race, I'd probs flee. Food for thought😌
@@ladydavinci9914 But the thing is, she would be revealed to her stepmother and stepsisters-- not just to him. But then again, if he loves her, then that shouldn't matter either because she would then be protected by him and the royal family.
They had such good chemistry, no offense to Julie Andrews, but this version of R&Hs Cinderella knocked the other previous two out of the park, they did just a beautiful job!
am i making believe i see in you, a girl to lovely to be really true, Do i love you because you're beautiful? or are you beautiful be cause i love you? are you the sweet invention of a lover's dream? or are you really as wonderful as you seem? Most power love song lyrics EVER !!!!!
You know I’ve seen this and the other movie version of Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. And I love this one even more because I feel the emotions are more real and the singing is beautiful! It’s so much more romantic!
I had forgotten all about this movie for years upon years until my sister had mentioned it just before, and I instantly remembered it and how much I loved it, and so seeing this scene makes me nostalgic and happy. And not to mention that their chemistry and the way the treat each other (particularly Paola's affection to Brandy) is far too adorable for me to handle 😍😍
They had such great chemistry to the point where, it made me wish they were a real couple. This guy was incredibly handsome. And listening to him sing gave me chills.
I remember the first time I've seen this movie was when I was either 10 or 11 years old at daycare. I remember very little of this movie. And the prince is so handsome. When I was younger, I was like, if he's Asian (Filipino) then how come his mother is Black and his father is White? I didn't get that when I was little. This movie came out 3 years before I was even born, so sad! But this is so nostalgic for some reason. Lol!
my favorite Cinderella, right here :-D loved it ever since it came out. and now, I know how that feels... #^_^# I need to find the DVD for this so my boyfriend and can see it together (yes, he's a romantic, rare creature tho that is lol) "I've always dreamed it would happen like this, and now it really has..." that moment when you feel like you can sprout wings and dance across the sky... :-)
I still need to watch this masterpiece of a remake it looks absolutely beautiful The casting for this version in particular is very well chosen and the actors and actresses that play their respective characters in this movie is also what makes this remake of this movie so iconic and Memorable
i watched this movie again last week for the first time in probably over 10 years. i’m 22 now and i pretty much remembered the words to all the songs, and this scene and song have been stuck in my head. maybe i’m connecting it to someone, but i just think it’s so beautiful :))
To bad no one respects the classics like we oldie family does. It may 2018 but, I love oldie movies and games! And I am a teen! My family loves oldie movies and games too!
