I agree 100% with providing classroom teachers with the resources you create in order to gather product feedback. While I still am a classroom teacher, I like to give my products to my teacher friends to use and give me feedback on before posting it on TpT. Love the content, Melissa. Also, great tips for teachers to maximize their visibility on TpT.
We started at the same time! It’s been absolutely wild ride and I’ve had a lot of very strong success very early in my journey, so I only see my monthly income decreasing with time, so I feel the pressure to keep on creating. Thank you for this video!
I think I've seen your stuff! Sorry for the dip, and hope things recover quickly! (Videos on creating self-paced classes from products as well as using QR codes to bring added value coming in the next 2 weeks in case they'd help spark some ideas!)
@@melissaisteaching We are focussed on social and emotional learning for students and teachers. It's been an exciting journey so far. Your videos inspire us, thank you again!
@@3andB That's so helpful! I had a great conversation with Dr. Leah Altemeier that's coming up next week. Lots of SEL talk in there: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aL6EHG60Dw8.htmlsi=EGx4lIHXGV6yoU9Y
Thank you! What do you sell?! Just made 2 sales tonight while I was teaching another class and am newly grateful (and motivated!) to do some work on previews, covers and videos to improve my conversation rate. Always learning and would love to hear what you're focused on!
@@melissaisteaching congrats on your sales 👏🏾don’t you love hearing that cha-Ching!!! 💰 My store makes bilingual products English/Spanish- mainly for intermediate grades because that’s what I teach. Right now I’m working on a resource for narrative writing- mini- lessons. I don’t have as many products as you have yet so I’m trying to build on that. I find that the products take soooo much time to create which is why it’s taking some time, I guess.
Sure! So the code is linked to a Google Slides presentation where I've used photos (not clip art) to illustrate the meaning of each vocab term in the game. I use this as the initial teaching tool for these words, a preview before the game, and a scaffolding tool during the game (maybe not necessary, but definitely helpful for ELLs or kids learning a new language).
@@GinaBrittCo No, its included in the resource. Think of it as leveling up the resource. It would be super easy to sell just the printable PDF cards for the game, but now I've added a new layer of understanding for students, a way for teachers to scaffold (that they don't have to create), and an extension of the time this activity could be used for.
Hi I am interested in starting TPT. I will be graduating elementary education in a year. I really feel like I have the potential. However, I may have many ideas, i have even created my own lessons and activity with matching standards for my classes but I don’t have any experience as a teacher. How can I start without having the experience?
Hi Kathy! That's a great question. It might be helpful to find a teacher you could offer your resources to in exchange for feedback. This would help you figure out what you're missing, and how you might better serve classroom teachers. Once you begin teaching in your own classroom, lots of those little things (like space for a name!) will come naturally. What types of products are you looking to create?
Hi Evonne! My store is Melissa Is Teaching. Would love to have you follow along over there! www.teacherspayteachers.com/Sellers-Im-Following/Add/Melissa-Is-Teaching Do you have a TPT store? What are you creating?
I want to open an account but should I wait to have at least 10 things to post? 20? I worry if I only post my freebie people will see I have nothing and not come back.
There's no magic number to start... the magic is just getting started! I started with 3 things and gave myself the goal of getting anywhere from 2-6 items added each month (just based on the time I have available to create, and the type of product I was making/bundling).
Good question. I'd double check with TPT for details, but I know of a few people who have 2 stores that focus on different niches, so I can't imagine they would prohibit that. (But check to be sure!)
