My First and Worst Period Experiences

Im a guy and i cant even begin to imagine how painful a period can be, just seeing the pure amount of blood is insane to me, stay strong girls!

I wanna share my personal opinion on this topic I haven't gotten my period yet but watching these animators talking about it makes me feel comfortable and have more reference for when I get it for real, it makes me feel happy because when THAT happens I'd know how to act. and it also makes me feel so sorry for other girls around the world who suffer from this sh***y experience (litteraly)

I'm a male, I don't go through periods, but I'm sorry to anyone that does go through periods, and to anyone reading this, have an amazing day/night.

I’ve never felt what a period is like since I’m male. But, I imagine it being painful. I’m sorry that all women have to suffer this when growing up.

So my first period story is actually an interesting one. I had known generally about periods for some time, so I wasn't too shocked when it happened. That day I was supposed to go on a plane ride with a couple of my siblings. I was super excited for it, and when everyone was going to go to the bathroom before leaving, I saw the blood. It has only JUST barely started, so it was very dark; almost unrecognizable, so I wasn't sure whether it was blood or not. But I told my mom about it anyway, and boy am I glad. It was my period, and the plane certainly wouldn't have any pads :P The funny thing is that I hardly ever have cramps, and if I do, they are very weak. Which is pretty nice since I have trouble taking pills. The one thing that suprised my though, was the fact that your period lasts a few days. I had thought that it happened over only a period of hours T-T (haha, period) Edit: Dang I hadn't expected to blow up but it is really cool to hear everyone else's stories and experiences!

As a guy, I’ll never know exactly how bad a period can be. But I still have deep respect for all the women out there that deal with this every month, as it seems like a nightmare…

im so glad that i was taught about periods about 2 years before i got them. my first period was pretty chill, not much blood and bearly any cramps, and i was at home.

I have something to confess, I'm one of those girls who have been blessed with no cramps when on it. So its really interesting to hear the pain and suffering of people who does experience cramps. I'm sorry I cant relate.😔 All I can say is get well to the people who deal with this every month 💪

NOT MY FIRST PERIOD BUT A ONE TO REMEMBER: A few days after my birthday, I had my period on a Thursday night, no biggie, I put a pad on, I went to sleep, I woke up, put on my clothes, ate the marshmallows from the lucky charms cereal (thats important), started my day at school, and I was in my first period when all of a sudden, a pain like no other rushed upon me, and I was looking up every possible way to stop this pain.I had no choice but to call my mom because the pain got that bad. As we were driving home however, I felt nauseous. All of a sudden, I had to yell at my mom to pull over because I vomited BLACK GOO WITH A MIXTURE OF LUCKY CHARMS! it was bad. As soon as I got home, I kept on throwing up and using the restroom, throwing up and using the restroom. It was so bad that I could taste blood. I had to make myself take a nap (which wasn't that hard I was already weak from the cycle of pooping and throwing up) AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE NAPS! when I woke up from my slumber, I looked in the mirror and my stomach was completely flat. I was shocked and scared, I could've died if I kept that cycle of throwing up and pooping! It has now became a reoccurring thing for me and my sister and aunt had had this same cycle, and it lasts for 4 YEARS. I'm now looking for options to terminate my periods altogether. Thanks mother nature 🫠

Somehow i learned what periods were several years younger than most people who experience them and that upsets me so much. Just educating people on what is almost guarenteed to happen to them before it happens is super important and its rediculous when the situation plays out in any other way.

⚠️NO BOYS⚠️ so at the time i was ten, 4th grade and my mom taught me about periods WAY before because i have an older sister so yeah, but anyways i didn’t feel any pain or anything at all so i went to school as usual and me and my friend will sometimes go to the bathroom together and talk cause we’re evil 😈 so she went but shortly after i went but i saw her come out which i thought was bad but was actually good :) but yeah, so i went and i did my thing but as i was about to pull my under-stuff up; i saw dry blood. yep. dry blood on my under-stuff EVERYWHERE, but i just kinda put them back up feeling uncomfortable now that i knew it was there. but i went back to class and the teacher was done talking so i whispered into her ear in a very small kinda scared voice: “there was blood on my underwear so i think i started my period”. so my teacher told another teacher to look over the class while mine: took me. to the nurse, i was there told her she taught me how to use a pad and ect. and i had a pad on feeling uncomfortable af and later but still soon my mom came to pick me up and yeah. THE END!!!!!!!

Here’s my story. I was 13 at the time. It was Friday after school, and I was wearing my favorite pants and hoodie. After school, I decided I didn’t want to go back home. I was in such a great mood, so I decided to do a sleepover at my grandma and grandpa’s house with my two cousin/bests friends. All my aunties and uncles were there that day. In my grandma’s house, after a long day of playing with my cousins/bests friends, it was already 22:00. Suddenly, one of my aunties called me over and whispered in my ear, “There’s blood on your pants.” My heart dropped when I realized it was my period. This was the first time I’d gotten my period, and I was so heartbroken. I didn’t want to deal with the monthly bleeding and cramping, plus it meant that the night would be ruined since my mood had switched from happy to sad. I felt my mood swing quickly to anger when my aunties started giggling and joking about how they were going to tell my mom to take me to the hospital. I was so furious that they would even suggest something like that. I walked back home, taking a pad from my auntie. I went straight to my room and cried all night. To this day I still hate my period. I wish I were a boy. Life just isn’t fair.

I once got my period in the middle of running laps in gym. It came with some killer cramps. I had to duck out early, expelled some fluids from the wrong end of my body because of the pain, and went home. I also nearly passed out. I hope you all have better luck

I can so relate to the pain. There have been several times where I would take the pain killers and just sit down and feel like crying and not wanting to move an inch because of it while I wait for them to kick in. I swear it feels like it takes forever sometimes.

I had already gotten “the Talk” before I had my period, so I wasn’t surprised when I first had it. But my first experience was not fun! My class was going on a all-day field trip and right as we were preparing to leave, I went to the bathroom and saw the blood. Fortunately, I had pads ready because my mom had hers around the same age and wanted me to be prepared. But the whole trip, the cramps made me sure my insides were on fire! I don’t remember any of the trip, other than the pain.

I'm so glad that usually when my periods come I hardly feel any pain, it's a looot of blood but thankfully if I have any pain, it's something i can pretty much live with. I should thank god for that 😅

I seriously don't understand why more parents don't warn their kids before this happens. I would think that's super important so that your child doesn't get into this overwhelming situation and freak out because they don't know what's happening.

i got my first period in the middle of my cross country. 6 laps around 2 massive fields. horrid cramps. THE FEELING. headache, muscle ache. AND I WASNT EVEN ALLOWED TO SIT OUT. because if i did, it “wasn’t fair on the boys” .

I remember the month before I got my first period, for some reason my body did a test run I guess, and I was in the middle of a tennis lesson with my MALE coach and I felt something. I was like "wtf did I just get my period??" So I asked to go to the bathroom and checked, to find that brown blood you see at the end of your period (or start). I was in shock, and in panic mode. I ran back and asked my coach to use his phone to call my mom, and he goes "why".. I just kinda stood there awkwardly in silence and then he got the memo and was like "OH OK." so I freaked out and called my mom, after I continued the lesson like nothing happened 😭

My worst period was 2-3 months ago. It was the second day of my period for that month. I was at school, thinking that this month wouldn’t be so bad WRONG turns out just before break time ended I was in the dining hall. My best friend and I noticed the chair I was sitting on was covered in blood. Thankfully there was a janitor in there who sorted out the chair and I went over to the first aid office where a nurse gave me new trousers and extra pads. Then we go to 3rd period/lesson where things got way worse. I had to suffer with the dreadful feeling of leaking my pad for the whole lesson and when I stood up (we were on black plastic stools this time, the chairs in the dining hall were a light brown wooden chair) there was the blood again, not very visible but I could definitely tell I had leaked a lot worse this time. I quickly walked out of the science classroom and went on my way to 4th period, I ran into my form tutor and explained everything to her, and she told me to go straight to first aid to go home. I went back to first aid and waited a while until they called my mum who 10 minutes later arrived at the school and took me home. It felt like a long day even though I was only there for half of it. I hope that this never happens again for a long time to come…

I already had learned about periods before actually getting mine and I just told my mom without shedding a tear😭😭😭

Throughout middle and high school, I was always scared of my teachers and tried to do things how they wanted them done without question. When I was in 7th grade (around the time I had first gotten my period, which I had actually gotten on my sister's birthday that year), I remember our gym teacher sitting both the boys and girls down and scolded us because, apparently, people were using periods and herpes as an excuse to get out of class. She said, "I'm a girl, so I know how bad periods are but you have to come to school. And while herpes are uncomfortable, it's really your fault for kissing someone anyway." I mean, sure, but really? This then resulted, for years, anytime I had a bad period day, when my mom would ask me if I'd rather stay home, that teacher's words would ring through my head and I'd insist that I go and I'd just suffer through the whole day because, guess what? My mom had a falling out with our doctor so no doctor's note for painkillers and now I had to make sure I got my painkillers early so I could go through the day without dying and hope to God I didn't have to stay after that day. Towards the end of my senior year, the pain was bad. What was even worse though was because of how bloated I was, I was constantly running to the bathroom to go #2. My mom suggested I stay home, I refused, and then she kept me home anyway. After having me explain to her what I explained before, she told me that while that teacher was kind of right, it's still okay to have a day off or two if it's really bad. So I got to stay home all day and binge-watch the rest of the Harry Potter movies I had yet to see at that point. That was a good day. Fun side note, I haven't had my period in over a month. I don't have sex so I'm definitely not pregnant but my brain likes to scare myself into thinking I'm having early menopause. When the body waits is when I end up with one hurting like hell when it finally comes back with a vengeance.

So context for my story, for some reason I cannot physically take pills so when I have periods I normally have to tough it out and thankfully the pain is minimal EXCEPT FOR ONCE DURING SCHOOL. Now I remember how I had art and just being in so much pain that I started to silently cry and called my mom for her to pick me up due to how intense it felt, like it felt like some cement bricks were dropped onto my stomach. Thankfully later on it started to die down and by my last period which was PE I felt a bit better BUT THEN I WAS CALLED TO THE OFFICE WHERE I WAS SCARED THAT I DID SOMETHING WRONG BUT it was just my mom who I forgot I called. Thankfully she took me home since the pain just got worse but I was able to cover myself in heating pads :’)

Guy here I got humbled so much when i got a pilonidal cyst. I more so described the pain as about 5 needles going in and out of my ass and about 10% of each day i had no pain. It was basically russin roulette with 5 out of 6 rounds loaded, but you don't know when it fires and there's a .45 added with the others being .22. Surprisingly the bleeding and pain weren't at the same time, but i did feel like i was half dead after bleeding a crapton. The only saving grace was the giant pillow i made in my homemec class. Also amla fruit helps with your menstral cycles.

omg my first period story is something else 😭 I mean there’s definitely worse, but I wasn’t home for it So, for context, I had this book about puberty for AFAB people specifically, and I looked at the checklist of symptoms that could indicate your period coming, and I told my mom “I think I’m getting my period soon.” I was 12, almost 13, at the time. My mom, having not gotten her period until later, said I probably wasn’t getting it yet because she didn’t get it until she was older Around this time, I had a trip to a week-long summer camp- ergo, I wouldn’t be home for a week, and I wouldn’t see my family for a week This camp took place at a horse ranch, which was the main attraction, obviously, along with a few other activities like rock climbing, swimming, archery, airsoft guns, and skateboarding. Because of its focus on the horses, we had at least one activity a day with them One morning, we did a small course where we steered the horse around some minor obstacles, and iirc we were supposed to do it with the horse cantering? So it was a very bumpy ride, to the point that it kinda hurt sitting on the horse When I go to use the bathroom after this activity, I notice… a little bit of blood. I think “huh, I wonder if that’s from all the bouncing on the horse? It was a lot. It can’t be my period, my mom said I wouldn’t get it yet” But, of course, this was my period. So I had to go the entirety of my first period completely unprepared- I had no pads with me, and I remember using toilet paper as makeshift pads, wrapping it around my underwear so it stayed in place and absorbed enough, changing it out every time I used the bathroom. I was so paranoid it would eventually leak, but thankfully it never did 😭 I think one of my cabin mates gave me a pad when I talked to them about it, because I didn’t know what to do since we were supposed to have some time in the pool that day. I was NOT happy to learn I wouldn’t be able to swim 🥲 (I wasn’t about to use a tampon, I didn’t know how and no way was I gonna get someone I didn’t know very well to help me) The FIRST thing I said to my mom (after saying hello) was basically “I TOLD YOU SO,” I’d never let her live it down lol

I literally just gone mine yesterday. I’m not even kidding. I have already been well taught in this subject (thank u mom) and I never expected it to happen to soon (take note: I’m 11) and now I’m getting into the routine. This will be my life from now on… hope everyone else isn’t facing the pain I am.

I hate periods :/ (Edit) I’m on my period rn and the cramps 😭

Ok, from what I can remember this one was right near the end of 2020. I had a period that lasted around 3 weeks. Yes, constant bleeding for 3 weeks. Now at the time I was still kinda new to the cycle so I had no idea this wasn’t a normal thing until it was a bit too late- one night as I finished up my business in the bathroom and went to wash my hands I just sort of fell- I couldn’t feel any pain just confused and dazed and my mom comes in worried af, I tried to shake it off as no big deal and then I went to go back to the couch because I was hanging out in the living room at the time until suddenly I just straight up blacked out and fell on the floor. Long story short I was taken to the ER to get my first IV and a blood transfusion but I had an allergic reaction to it so they transferred me to a hospital in the next town over for a few days. So that’s where I spent my new years and when I came home I was all better and got a new phone. What’s the most unsettling part about it to me was that my mom recalled that I looked dead or that I was dying when I blacked out in the living room until I finally came too with a 106 or 103 degree fever. So that was fun 🥲

I got my first period on November 2023, yeah literally a couple months ago XD And I was honestly so relieved to finally get my period because Ive gotten to the age where I should DEFINITELY have my period already and was scared to be infertile but yeah! I was old enough to already know the basics and wasnt surprised by it Yknow even though Ive only experienced my period twice, theyre not that bad so far! I dont get any cramps most of the time, and when I do they arent bad at all. And no mood swings, and not a lot of blood, I got it at school and didnt have any pads with me but luckily it wasnt a lot of blood and didnt spill (you know what I mean.) but yeah! I just CANT wait to start regularly getting my period every month

I remember was a child I already (somehow I forgot) learned about periods myself and my mom and sister were VERY different when talking about it around me my mom would full on just say period like she wasn’t scared of teaching me about it but my sister on the other hand probably was scared to tell me about them she just said “it’s something you’ll experience in the future it’ll just make you really emotional” lmao 💀

Just two words to describe my life : Irregular periods. IT HURTS AND I CAN’T DO ANYTHING ABOUT ITTTTTT (Edit : I KNOW IT'S NOT TWO WORDS Y'ALL 😭)

this happened during my 3rd or 4th period. when i woke up to go to school, my cramps were *terrible*. with my periods, my cramps and back pain is worse than the bleeding, and i have scoliosis back pain on top of that. i stayed home that day with my mom, a heating pad, and some midol (which sucks to take since i can't swallow pills) and i cried all day. i now take medicine that gets rid of them completely. the cramps have a vendetta against me though and say hi every once in a while

I have a suggestion! If you experience your period during class, and your teacher is luckily a female, they'll understand, so go and tell them. (I'll make a separate paragraph for Male teachers) They'll hopefully support you and help you the best they can. If they cannot help you at the time, ask to go wherever else in the school, if they have not already told you to go to the nurse's office. Once outside the classroom, try to find a nearby female adult if your pain is extremely bad. They can hopefully help you. If not, JUST GO TO THE NURSE AT THAT POINT GOD DANG- If you are anti-social, like me, write the teacher a note that states what's going on and give it to her privately. That way, you avoid awkward conversations. If you are not a strong and quick writer, try asking your teacher for a separate conversation with them. If you dont feel comfortable asking in front of the rest of the class, go up to your teacher. If youre like me, its the talking part that's mainly nerve-wracking. Ask infront of her, but in a voice quiet enough so the rest of the class can't hear. Hopefully, the teacher understands, no matter how you may have said the situation. (I, myself, wouldve just blurted it as quick as possible. Thats what my social anxiety does. Try to be as calm as possible so they can understand you better.) Aaaand the moment you've all been waiting for! How to confront *male* teachers about this! Please, try to keep calm. Ask to go to the nurse's office, and if he asks why, respond with the truth. Sure, he may not understand it as well as females would, but he would understand. He has probably experienced this situation before, as he is your teacher, and he is supposed to keep you safe. Remember, teachers go through many trainings, and although i have never been in one, im am sure periods are in the training. If you dont feel comfortable with his reaction to the period, please remember that every human girl/woman in the world has to go through this. You are not alone, my friend. Well, if you are one of the unlucky people who of which have to suffer through these periods, you are not alone! *You got this, and i wish you luck on your journey, no matter how hard it may be!* I really hope i helped someone out there, and just remember, periods are very normal ❤❤

I got my first period at 11 ☠️ I remember I was in so much pain and my back was hurting so badly, to the point where I had to take a nap just to relieve the pain. I woke up an hour later, went to the bathroom and when I looked down there was a whole pool of blood! I was lucky enough to know what a period is and I was able to tell my mom, who just started at me in disbelief. I thought it was funny seeing this video as I started my period today, and reading everyone else’s first period stories is fun.

When I got my first period I was in history class and we had to give presentations that day. Luckily my partnership wasn't called to present because we ran out of time. So everyone started packing up and moving back to their seats (we moved to sit with our partners) but when I stood up I FELT IT. I stood still for like a good 10 seconds contemplating if I actually had gotten my very first period before I moved back to my seat. Then, all the students either had to stay in their class or go to the mpr for presentations about bullying. My class was one that had to go to the mpr, and instead of asking if I could go to the bathroom I waited for 40 minutes until I could go to lunch. And that whole time I was so nervous and kept thinking that I was going to bleed on my seat. (I didn't :D) When lunch started my friend and I quickly got our lunches and went to our usual spot to eat (which was across the quad). After I put my food down I went to the bathroom (AND DIDN'T GET A PAD FROM MY BACKPACK) to check if I had actually gotten my period. And I did. So I rushed back to my backpack and had to run across the quad to the bathroom with a pad scrunched up in my hand because I didn't have any pockets and my sleeves weren't baggy enough to stuff it in there.

I had white pants when i got my period and i was with ppl that i didint really know (i was dancing) and this girl came up to me with a pad and gave it to while explaining what getting ur period is the worst thing was that i was with my dad Im do thankfull to that girl😊😊

This is a story that i like to call, the pirates of the red sea. I remember when I got my first period back when I was 12, it was the first day of summer, June 21st, it happened when my mom was doing a cook out because my family does a traditional cook out on the grill party as the start of summer with some of the neighbors that would come over and some of the kids came over as well. And sometimes we like to do themes for each party, that year we did a pirate theme, and was around the time pirates of the carribean dead man's chest came out that same year. During the night, as the adults were hitting the liquor and having a good time, I will come back to this in a bit. When me and the kids got done swimming, I had to excuse myself to use the bathroom, now keep in mind, I didn't feel any cramping or pain when this happened, but as I went to use the bathroom, doing your buisness like everyone does, I suddenly see a ton of blood. I start freaking out and not knowing what to do. The only thing I could do is hurry to get toilet paper to temporarily hold the blood till I found a solution. Then embarrassingly went upto my mom, who was getting tipsy at this point, I asked her to come meet me in the bathroom cause I needed her help and didn't know what to do. Of course she does and I told her, I just got my period. Now at this point when I said this, my mother, being the mom that she is, was so damn proud of me, how now im became a woman, the cheerleader that she was, and how she had to explain to me how periods were, could only be like how if Jack sparrow was explaining what a period was to a pre-teen girl. I say this cause of the costume she was wearing was a pirate outfit, and slurred like how Jack talks in the movie. Now I thought that was over right? Wrong. This was part of the story where i just wanted to go take a ship and sail away and never to return of the sheer embarrassment i had to be apart of. As soon as we get done in the bathroom, my mother, was so damn proud I had my period, she decided it was her proudest moment as a parent, she announced to the whole party that I just had my period. And that's where everyone just busted out laughing as they all with their rums clapped and cheered me on as I'm "conquering the red sea". Oh you bet even the kids joined in too with the laughter, except the boys, cause they were either like, EEEWWW or innocently didn't understand what my mom ment. The worst part, was she announce it, where even a boy I had a crush on, witnessed the whole thing. This was the part I wanted to duel her in a sword fight for how much embarrassment she has brought upon her little "buccaneer" to silence her. Reality though, I was so embarrassed where not even the blood i was suffering through wouldnt make up with how red i was in the face, thankfully, the cook out happened at our house, I immediately bolted to my room and hid in there for the rest of the night as i was suffering from not only pain to come, but the sheer embarrassment my mother brought me that night, where I felt like telling her was the biggest mistake of my life, being all dramatic that my life was over, or how I can't redeem myself, the 12 year old me thinking. But of course as I'm reaching 30, I look back on this and the family still has fond memories of that night and we all joke about how any woman each month, we would say, welp, guess they're sailing through the red sea.

My story: So it happened at 8 January and i was 12, i was at school and while i was at school,i had a big stomache, i decided to go to the bathroom after a minute, when i was there, the pain didnt relief, i looked down at my underwear and it was brown, i then looked down at the inside the toilet and there was blood dropping out, when i saw it i started breathing heavily and started panicking. You may now ask why, well bc i never wanted period anyway,since i fear of experiencing sexual things and once girls have their periods then they will be able to make babies, and thats what I've feared. I started crying loudly and LUCKILY a girl was there, she heard my crying and she asked me what happened and she told her what was up. She then quickly went to her classroom and got the thingies and gave them to me, im so grateful for her. I then went out of the toilet, i was still crying a bit, a teacher saw me and i told her,she took me to my classroom and i was still crying a nit, as a entered everyone looked at me, my main teacher and my twin came to me and i told them. Later my mother came to pick me up.

My worst period happened about six months ago. I woke up at 5AM cramping like crazy, so I spent almost twenty minutes in the restroom before telling my mom, so she prepared a warm shower for me. Luckily it was the beginning of spring break so I didn't have to worry about school, but these cramps hurt SO BAD they felt like I was having CONTRACTIONS!! To end this on a lighter note, however, I told my sister the next night and she asked if I had a baby, to which I said no, how would THAT work? Yeah, if you have a sister like mine, be prepared for stupidly hilarious gags like THAT one XD

I can definitely relate, especially since i got my period in school and uneducated about periods. I’ll be honest It was the scariest thing that had happened to me, I was suddenly bleeding really hard and I completely panicked and got really scared and I was almost in tears luckily my friend gave me a pad 😭🙏

I feel sorry for the pain you girls have to go through. Whenever I hear the pains of a period I just… ouch 😖 And I’m someone who doesn’t find blood that bad.

When I got my first period I was in 6th grade at recess (I live in a small area so the 6th grade is in the elementary school). Thankfully I knew what a period was and was able to ask my teacher if she could let me in to use the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and saw that the blood got on my white underwear. I put toilet paper in my underwear, went to lunch and then asked to see the nurse after lunch to get a pad. It was also the last day of school before winter break so I was a little upset that my first period couldn't wait another day. At first my cramps weren't really bad, but now it feels like I got ran over by a bus and stabbed 100 times a few days before I start and all throughout the week I'm on it. Midol, heating pads, and chocolate are definitely some of my best friends when it comes to my time of the moth.

My first one was when I was at SUMMER CAMP! My mom wasn’t there with me and it was an overnight one! And of course that camp was at a lake so we would go swimming BUT they would always give us some kind of safety lecture or something so I would have to sit there in my bathing suit with NO PAD by myself and power through it! Luckily though one of the female staff went to the nurse and gave me some pads. I am still thankful for that lady that was able to do that for me 👍🏻

I'm a femboi and I make it a point to carry spare day pads and chocolate with me when I'm out and about for those who may need it! I believe more guys should be open to the idea of feminine hygiene and girls be appreciative of guys too.

Gee, my first period experience was at camp. I was 13 with no supplies. I was super embarrassed and even in denile, I think. I just remember asking myself "why am I moody today?" I tried calling my mom, but couldn't even remember the phone number. I didn't bother to ask anyone either, so I just braved through it the entire two days. I felt I handled it like a champ and I even hid the fact I started my period for over a year. ....😅

I find it so odd since I remember I had mine at home and my mom already educated about it to me when I was 9 so when I had it, I didn't feel no pain at all for those beginning years I had until I felt that WRENCHING PAIN in high school. I felt like I was dying during my classes 😭 it was so painful. I never knew that taking Advil would help ease the pain which I highly recommend it. The same goes with drinking tea and having a heating pad. There's also period heating pads in pharmacy stores which definitely get that if you travel, go to school or work. (Edit) I just had my period now 💀

My first period happened when I was 14 and in high school. I didn’t actually understand that it was my period as I thought it was just a weird stomachache and I usually try to push through things like that. Then, I saw the blood in my underwear right before taking a shower that night. My little sister saw and didn’t understand, so she was freaked out. I told my mom, and she calmed her down. My worst period, though, actually wasn’t cause by the period. It was when I was at the peak of my cycle, I had gotten the COVID vaccine. I believe it was my second shot, and I got the side effects of the vaccine WITH my period. The reason this was especially bad was because I went to school with that, and my sister got out of school early for having COVID-like symptoms. She was mild and didn’t have it, but BOY it pissed me off to see her in the car picking me up that day since I had been in agony dealing with two really horrible things physically only for her to be there in the front seat, smiling as my mom picked me up.

One time in school my cramps were so bad, I even asked my teacher to go to the nurse, which I had never done before, like, ever. ( I’m shy lol) “Ok lemme approve your digital hallpass” “WHAT” After like 3 minutes she finally let me go, and when I got there I wanted the pills so bad. I too share the pain of “oh we gotta ask your parents first to give you pills” But I survived :’) everybody just hang in there ❤️

The way my first period took place was a pleasant surprise. It hit me at break time, all I could do was sit inside and cry because of the pain. The girls in my class were there to comfort me and even help tell a teacher even though they probably didn’t know what was going on. Then my dad picked me up and I stayed home for the rest of the day. Aka/ pleasant surprise.

My first period was… a shocker 🙃 This is a little long, so you can skip this if you want I remember it was a fine morning (☕️) during the weekend and I was hanging out around the house like normal. Before I had breakfast I went upstairs to use the bathroom (and before you say anything I was sitting down on the WHITE couch, legs elevated so I didn’t feel anything at all) and I pull down my undergarments and I see a little bit of forbidden cranberry juice. And just like YoonToons, I thought I cut myself, I searched for about a minute looking for it because like I said this was before breakfast. (and no way I’m letting my precious pancakes go cold) So anyway, I go downstairs and finish my breakfast only to go back to the bathroom to find that the ENTIRE MID SECTION of said undergarments was dyed red. Like YoonToons, I never really had the talk with my mom either, she got me a book about the wonderful journey of puberty and growing up but she said *”We’ll save that for another time”* So, with no idea how to handle this, I went to our towel closet and grabbed a facecloth and wrapped the foiled underwear inside like evidence of a crime scene and stored it in my room on my desk. I got a new pair of underwear and got a buttload of toilet paper and shoved it up by nether regions so nothing else would be ruined. I sat in my room for a while, enduring minor cramps that got worse each time. That afternoon my sister came to my room and told me: *Mommy’s going to take me to my friends’ house to go and swim, so I wanted to say goodbye. 😊* *M’kay, have fun.* And just before she walked out of the room, I had the AUDACITY to ask her: *WAIT* *Hm?* *Can I come too?* I’m not going into too much detail about what happened then, but I came along with her and luckily the pool wasn’t tinted orange by the time I got out. Later that evening I heard the news that we were going to my grandparents’ house with some other relatives to have dinner. And I was internally LOSING IT because after all this time I still hadn’t told my mom about the incident, but I promised myself to not tell her until we got back home. So after a painfully long hour or two we come back home to go to sleep and while I was waiting for my mom to finish getting ready I watched my sister like a hawk from my door because I was not going to let her hear this. Then she went downstairs and it was just me and my mom upstairs. Go time. *H-hey mom?* *Yeah?* *Do you think you could come here for a second?* *Sure, what’s up?* *(deep breath) SoIwaswaitingalldaytotellyouthisbuteversincethismorningI’vebeenbleedingbutIwassobusyandnervousthatIcouldn’ttellyoubutIreallyneedyourhelpbecauseIdon’tknowwhattodooooooo 😩* And before you ask, yes, I did show her the underwear evidence from this morning.🥲 Her eyes were wide open and she just stood there before saying: *Oh… o-okay. Luckily I have some stuff for you. I’ll be back.* She went to the towel closet and got pads and liners, painkillers (I think they were called ibuprofen, I’m not a doctor so I could be wrong), and a go-bag. She taught me how to use the pads and gave me two of those painkillers to me, and FINALLY; she started teaching me about what was going on and that everything would work out in the end… sort of. I was in tears because I never wanted any of this to happen, and she irrelevantly told me that she had these pills that would apparently “destroy a hormone” so she WOULD’NT have her period which made me mad. Before I went to bed she asked me: *Want me to tell dad?* *Of course not!* If you ask me, periods suck. But it’s okay, because its only temporary. Either run from it, or run at it. (Or learn from it, that’s ok too) And to all of you on their period right now: you’ll be okay 👍 Also thank you for reading this to the end 🙏 I appreciate it *I also have a couple tips for y’all:* - Only if its absolutely necessary, (like making a diy pad because you don’t have any, or if you are reaching the end of your period) don’t use liners. My mom told me to put them on while I sleep and that didn’t help in the least because there is still a forbidden cranberry juice stain on my bed from all the juice that the liner didn’t soak in lol - Bidets are LIFE SAVERS! there is a certain brand my parents bought from called “Tushy”, I never used it much until I got my period and after that I used it all the time. (If you don’t know what a bidet is, it’s a great device originally designed in France. You basically turn a knob and it sprays water on your tush and washes off your rear end so you use less toilet paper.)

My worst experiences were before I got on contraceptives… My periods were a wild ride. There was a time period when they came suuuuper rarely, like every two months or more, but they hurt like hell (I couldn’t stand up without almost crying), and not so long ago there were a few months when it came really frequently. (The last straw was when it decided to love me; I was on my period for about 2 weeks, then it left for BARELY ONE WEEK. That’s when I decided to take meds… it really did help. Now it comes regularly, and hurts only a normal amount.)

I had the most traumatic one that I've ever heard of worse than yours, I believe. 3 months ago, I was at camp for 6th grade camp and I had to use the restroom really badly because I felt like I had just paid myself, and I was so embarrassed, so I was like begging the teachers almost wanted to cry. I needed to go to the restroom. When I sat down, pull my pants down and look in my underwear. I start breaking down in tears and almost screaming, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, why today?! so when we get back after I get off the bus, I go look for my mom after grabbing the chocolate milk and a cookie, just to let you that the actual school food sucks, I find my mom, with my jacket over my waist, I look her dead in the eye as she's trying to take it off, because I was falling, I tell her mom, please, don't do that, and she was look at me, "why?" I didn't decide to give her the look, and she's like speechless and dumbfounded. "DID YOU START?!" I nod slowly and rush to the car, she was so excited over nothing(-.-;)

What most of the guys I know don't understand is that the bleeding itself doesn't hurt, it's the cramps that a majority of women get. Along with mood swings and buying products as well is a hassle.

I relate a lot to this, but the massive difference is that I actually get nauseous and vomit during my menstrual cramps. I feel like it will happen at my school, or more accuratly, my PE class with up to 40 people. The reason why I said during PE is because it is my last period and my menstrual cramps usually happen at that time.

My first period, I fell on something HARD. I thought I had cut myself, so I didn’t wear a pad or anything, and after THREE DAYS OF SUFFERING I realized what it was, and accepted my fate.😂

My first period story was JUST after I turned 11 (Mother nature has the best of birthday presents) That day i'd had a huge red slurpee, and when I went to the bathroom, RED. Now my mother had never explained what a period was to me because it was a "hush" topic that was "innapropriate" to talk about of course. So I somehow convinced myself that the slurpee dyed my piss red. I went an entire TWO almost THREE days without leaking, or even talking about. At that point I got to get a little worried... was I actually bleeding? FROM DOWN THERE?! How embarrassing! (Que horrified little girl face) When I finally spoke up about it, my mother bought me some pads, explained that this happened every month for 5 days (which is BS in my case because mine are incredibly long.) did she explain why periods happen? Nope. Did she explain what periods actually were? Nope, I though you literally peed blood. She gave me a book a while later that explained it. The thing that bothered me the most is that when I was 9, one of my friends got her period, and of course, being 9 I didn't know what that was. When I asked my mom she said I'd learn when I was older (So I thought it was a naughty topic I'd learn when I was an adult.) So to all the parents, or people planning on being parents, please, for the love of god, TELL YOUR KIDS WHAT PERIODS ARE!!

My first period was awful, I was 15 at the time and I was in the bathroom doing my business and I saw blood. I had no clue what it was but I yelled for help and my mom told my my older sister to help me & she explained to me what was happening. She went to get me some pads and showed me how to use them. Wish I was told about periods a little bit sooner so I knew that it was normal and not me thinking that I damaged my body😭

So one time when I was on my period, I went to the store on thanksgiving weekend, so the lines were really long and there was a lot of people. As I walked through the store I realized that my stomach was starting to hurt. As we were waiting at the scan and go, (remember it was thanksgiving weekend) I was sitting there dying because my cramps were getting so bad. Then we started to have some problems with the machine so I had to sit there in pain, and in a cold sweat for around 15 minutes. I started to feel dizzy and shakey, and all of the sudden puked on the floor. I went to the bathroom and started CRYING it hurt so bad, and the staff had to clean all of my puke up. They put up some caution tape and the WHOLE ENTIRE LINE behind us had to leave. I have to admit it was kinda funny looking back at it now. I got home and lates down for a while, got a heat pad and some medicine and took a nap. After I woke up I felt a lot better.
