Definitely add another coat or two of glitter. Just give it about 30 minutes or so between each layer of Mod Podge & glitter. You should be able to add as money layers as you need to get it as glittery as you like.
Thank you! There are a couple of things I might do different when I do one again, but for the most part I think it turned out really well. Thank you for watching!
I actually did that on purpose on this one because I wanted it to drip off. I wanted glitter and epoxy on the sides as well so I knew it was going to. Thank you for watching!
You totally could. I just think it’s a lot easier to do with a gloved hand. I think that would be more personal preference. I have pretty big hands anyway, so I think it’s quicker as well. 🙂 Thanks for watching!
It looks awesome. I just did my first table and after I put the first layer and blew it with my heat gun, I saw that it has gaps. Should I leave those until I do my second coat in 24 hrs?
Thank you! Do you mean gaps in the glitter? This one actually could've used a little more glitter as well, but since I painted it a similar color first you can't tell too, too much unless you are looking super close. I probably would and then just add more glitter to the second coat. If it is not super smooth since you added glitter to the second coat, you can always add a third with nothing in it so the coat has a smoother finish. Hope this helps. If you need any other help (or this isn't what you meant), just let me know.
Thank you! Oh yes, your second coat should easily fill in the gaps to where you won't notice that since it is self leveling. I sometimes do that too because I hate to mix up too much and then waste it since it isn't cheap. When you are using glitter, I think it is a little harder to guess about how much you'll need because the glitter creates more surface area to cover (at least that is my thinking as to why -- lol). I've started mixing up just a little more than I think I will need though so hopefully I won't have that issue.
How did you get glitter on the sides? My table is going to be a lot bigger, but I'm hoping to get an even looking coat of glitter on the vertical edges.
Looks amazing.. I want to do one.. Can you please tell me whether the mod podge be OK under the resin.. I've never done this before so learning as much as possible before I do the table.. Is modge podge a good under coat with glitter as I've seen some where only resin was used and they used alot of the e resin and lots of glitter.. How much resin did you use also..I want to do it right and the best way.. Without wasting loads of resin.. thank you so much ❤️🙏❤️
Thank you! They are so pretty, I think. I’m kinda a glitter junky, so the more glitter the better. 🙂 The Mod Pod does fine. Just wait until it’s completely dry. I’m not sure if it being wet would effect the curing or not, but I’m the type to always err on the cautious side just in case. I did this one with Mod Pod so as not to lose a lot of the glitter since I was going to have the epoxy run over the sides some. If you’re not concerned about it being on the sides of whatever you are doing, you can tape up the sides and just mix the glitter in the epoxy. I did a video more recently with this technique as well. This table didn’t take a whole lot of epoxy, but I don’t remember exactly how much I used, I’m sorry. I did mix up a little more than I thought I would need because that’s that err on the side of caution again & I’d rather have too much than not enough. 🙂 Thanks for watching! If you have anymore questions, I’m here!
@@StarJenn19 thank you for your reply I understand..I know you said you can't remember how much you used.. Would you say the e resin you bought was more than 16 ounces or 32 ounces?what I mean also is would I get the craft one for arts and crafts.. Or the I think it's the 32ounces..i feel I may need the second one.💜 Sophie 💜
The one that I have been ordering is in gallon jugs. I would say that you would probably have enough to do something the size of a TV tray with even the 16 ounce bottles. If you are wanting to continue to make stuff with it and have the extra money, I'd probably go with the 32 just so you'd be sure to have enough and have some left over. Also, remember that the layer with glitter will take more epoxy than if you add a second layer without glitter to have a completely smooth surface. The glitter soaks it up (even though it doesn't actually soak it up, if you know what I mean).
@@StarJenn19 also it doing the sewing machine table grey then silver metallic..its fake wood right now.. I think its a Spanish table.. My nan would probably get mad at me for making it modern lol.. It looks lovely though.. Would you think the glitter would look OK or should i paint the top first with grey furniture paint? Or what that he too dark.. Or what about white? I want the glitter to stand out really well and I'm not sure how it will look on brown wood.. Thank you for your help 😊😊😊💜🙏💜
@@StarJenn19 do you feel I will need two layers of the resin? Do you feel the way you have done it here with your hands is better then pouring it on? ❤️
I'm sorry. I am not sure if I fully understand the question. All of the resin/epoxies that I have heard of are two part (although there may be some that aren't and I have just not heard of them). The way I understand it is one part is the actual resin and the other part is the hardener. The type that I use is Alumilite and it is a two part that you put equal parts of each part in before you mix it up. So, it does have both parts in it so it will harden. If this is not what you meant, I apologize. Maybe you could rephrase the question and I could help more. Thank you for watching!
Sure. I think everything I used was: tv tray, acrylic paint, paint brush, glitter, Amazing Clear Cast epoxy resin, nitrile gloves, measuring bucket, stirring stick, plastic bag and newspapers (to protect the floor) and a heat gun. I can't think of anything else that I used, but if you see something else in the video that you are not sure what it is, just ask and I will be glad to help where I can. Thank you for watching!
