I'm now on day 5 since my infusion and I am slowly coming back to life. I had no idea what to expect from chemotherapy and it's been pretty rough if I'm honest.

It never fails to amaze me how people can feel emboldened to criticize people when they are in a vulnerable position. And criticize you for what? Sharing what's going on in your life on your OWN channel? THAT is what is bizarre - not that you're concerned about losing your hair (who wouldn't have at least some degree of concern about that?- I would as well because I really love my hair). Please ignore people like this. I guarantee it's an extreme minority who have this sort of narrow-minded, ignorant, unsympathetic view. Keep showing up as you - that's certainly what makes me want to keep following you. 💛

I went through chemo and immunotherapy for breast cancer, 3 years ago. I was warned about the neuropathy in hands and feet. I am a knitter and knit almost daily. I was so worried I would lose my ability to knit. That scared me more than hair loss! I used ice packs on my hands and feet. Would put them on 15 minutes before taxol, all through the taxol, and 15 minutes after. I have had no neuropathy. Also one of the chemo nurses was also into holistic medicine and recommended alpha lipoic acid. I am still taking 300 mg day and night! I did lose my hair after the 3rd chemo, but rocked the bald with big earrings and colorful scarves! My hair slowly came back healthier than ever. Take good care….❤

Thank you for sharing that. I too was more concerned about the potential neuropathy than the hair. Being able to knit & my other handcrafts are important for my sanity & creativity, as well as writing/typing for work. I’ve got my cryotherapy mitts & socks ready & start my first chemo this week. Fingers crossed 🤞

Amanda, When I went through chemotherapy for Non-hodgkin's lymphoma I was, like you, somewhat nervous not knowing what to expect. But I thought to myself that so many people before me have gone through this so I knew I could do it too. It wasn't easy but I did it. Right now, six months after finishing my regiment, I am in remission. Hang in there. It can be a tough road but I see you as being one tough individual.
@ceciliar559
@ceciliar559 Год назад
@timmcvicker5775 I have Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma having been officially diagnosed with it on October 14, 2022 with an open surgical biopsy. The results showed mine is Nodal Marginal Zone B-Cell Lymphoma primary in the lymph nodes a rare type indolent/slowing kind. The sad thing with me is on April 27, 2022 my younger brother passed away. He had chest and left arm pain, apparently signs of a heart attack. He was stabilized, but took a turn for the worse when he suddenly started coughing up blood. They did everything to save his life but the blood flow was too much and he simply choked and suffocated on his own blood. He was 57, leaving behind his wife from who he was separated and three adult children...two sons and a daughter. A year and a half before his passing, he was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma of the throat and tongue. That type of cancer is associated with the HPV(Human Papiloma Virus) which he acquired in his teens from an infected partner. There are several varieties of the HPV Virus, but ONLY two become cancer...number 16 and 18. I don't know which of these he had. His diagnosis came about after a misdiagnosis of acid reflux associated with a heart medication he was taking due to having a stent inserted after a cardiac event in May of 2020 and his cancer diagnosis came in April of 2021. he then started on both chemo infusion and radiation therapy. His speech was affected, but with speech pathology, he got his speech/speaking back. He was entering remission after a rigorous course of treatment when sadly after taking the covid-19 vax, he suffered a life threatening crisis in which he was hospitalized for SEPSIS, UTI and a fever of 103. He was given strong antibiotics to combat that life threatening crisis. Then, several weeks later, he took a covid booster and this time it landed him in the hospital with a far worse medical crisis in which he was placed in a medically induced coma. He recovered from that event until his sudden and unexpected passing on April 27, 2022. That said, I will be starting back-to-back chemo infusion this Thursday September 21 and Friday September 22, 2023. You had chemo for your treatment. On Thursday, I'm expected to be at the Cancer Center(NYU-Langone/Perlmutter) for about 6 hours and on Friday, 1 and a 1/2 hours. What was your treatment like as someone with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma? I'm asking because I'm quite nervous about this impending treatment. (Cecilia Rivera, from Brooklyn, NY).

Everybody's journey is unique to them - what's important, how they react to the treatment they're experiencing, their outlook, etc. I believe we should all show grace to our fellow humans, whether you understand their vibe or not. Maybe some aspect of what you were showing us was frightening and the comments were a way of dealing with that emotion. But, better to let those people move on then get too wrapped around the axle about it. Thank you for being willing to continue sharing your journey with us. I am grateful to anyone who shares their experience/story. As humans we need to connect with others, but also I feel I am learning so much. If I or a loved one goes through something similar I feel I would be more prepared. Hope you don't feel too crappy.

I understand i didn't want to lose my hair back then.. I didn't lose my hair when I has chemo. I had chemo pills. I also prayed and I believe my faith in God got me through 19 years ago. This is 19 years this new year. I saw my 8 year old grow up. She is 26 now. Thank you Jesus. Sorry, but everyone has an opinion, and we don't all agree, so that's why life is spicy. We dont all see things the same. We all can be a bit opinionated. If the person who unfollowed you went to Tiffanythinks she would really be upset. That chick has put everything out there. I would say thats brave and teaching moments. We can all learn to be a little kinder. Discussing experiences is educational. You have a wonderful, poetic last name. You have lovely family of support. Praying things go well. Keep positive, it helps the immune system.

I am having my second Keytruda in two days for Desmoplastic Melanoma and l am a retired 76 year old nurse. I applaud you for sharing your cancer journey. As you said, if you don't want to watch then don't! Nobody is forced to see anything they aren't interested in and l think it says a lot about the person that criticized you for sharing this. Please continue to do what you are doing so that we can see what to expect from our journeys. I for one hope you don't lose your beautiful curly hair!!

Whomever left such horrible comments is living in the dark ages. Those of us that have cancer or who have had cancer, completely appreciate your openness to discuss your condition and your treatment. You have every right to engage your team of RU-vid followers that want to support you and at the same time educate those that are ignorant so, it’s not about you needing to have a thicker skin, it’s about you Learning to hit the delete button or the block button whatever it is. Unfortunately there is evil in this world and some of them Love to insult cancer patients. What’s more important is that you continue to take care of yourself.

I like how you share, no women wants to lose their hair, it’s totally understandable. I’m going through a cancer journey with my husband and I lost my sister to cancer and the loss of her hair was very upsetting, nobody understands unless you have been there.

My dear Amanda i feel your pain loosing hair is a trauma for so many including myself as i went through it. The sad part is people can not respect our differences and have love and compassion for one another, specially foe the one going through so much. I love you dear one and feel your pain. From someone who has been through many years of physical mental emotional pain and stage 4 cancer. You are precious snd perfect just as you are. Sending you so much love ❤

It was a year ago January 14 that I started chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. Same chemo and time frame as yours. My infusion center provided cold mitts and booties to prevent neuropathy. I wore them through the three hour taxol drip. The nurses changed out the cold packs every hour. I highly recommend them! They can be ordered through Amazon if they’re not supplied for you. After my 5th infusion I began to experience numb areas on the balls of my feet. My oncologist lowered the taxol dose. They need to know you’re having symptoms asap. I had a love/hate relationship with them but I’m so grateful they were available. One down! Lots of rest and lots of liquids. Hugs!
