My First Craft Show Experience Vlog - Selling My Etsy Shop Items at a Craft Fair- VLOGMAS 2020 DAY 3

In this video, I'll be sharing my day with you as I participated in my first craft show experience! I decided to sign up for a craft fair as a way to sell some of my Etsy shop items in person!
This vlog is also day 3 of my Vlogmas 2020 schedule! For the first week of Vlogmas, I will be posting what I am referring to as my "catch-up" videos! These videos will either be videos I have wanted to make or updates on what has been happening in my life!
Participating in my first craft show was a big decision, but ultimately one I am glad I made! There was a lot of preparation that went into preparing for the event, and I was really happy with the outcome!
I started my Etsy shop a few months ago and decided I wanted to increase its exposure by signing myself up for an in-person craft fair.
The show was held at Fox Lake Park located in Titusville, FL. It was a great place for the event and brought out a lot of people!
I prepared for the event by making a lot of items in advance to sell. I also planned out my table layout so I could effectively use all of the space.
At the event, I sold handmade mouse ear headbands, scrunchies, and soap. I had my doubts at the beginning, but after the show started more people attended and I was able to make some sales!
I am really happy with the show overall and I definitely learned a lot from the experience. I would be happy to do another show in the future!
I will be sharing a video in the future about how I prepared for the craft show, lessons I learned, and how I would do it differently in the future!

If you price at .99 instead of whole dollars it makes it seem to the customer as a much better deal. So, instead of $20.00, pricing the ears at $19.99 might have been better.

Thank you for the input Matronista! I appreciate that! I actually have heard of that before 😃 I think that could have been helpful when selling ears but my thought at the time was to price them at a whole number so it would be easier to purchase. Since it was an in person event, I only accepted cash and couldn’t take credit cards. I really appreciate your comment and will have to consider this with my online shop! 😃

Everyone isn’t an idiot. Most people know how to round up a penny in their heads. Treating people like idiots isn’t a particularly good sales tactic in my opinion, but lots of people are successful at treating people like idiots, so go for it if it’s in you

I was wondering did you get a selling license & permission from Disney to make & sell their characters. Like the mickey mouse ears??

Good question! I did not but after doing research I learned Disney does not own the rights to Minnie Mouse ears they own the rights to the characters. I decided not to incorporate any Disney fabrics in my ears and only chose fabrics that could be sold without a license. Thank you for watching and I hope this answers your question🤩

Technically even if you bought licensed fabric, Disney already got a cut from the sale of the fabric, so I doubt it would be a problem.

Do you have separate inventory for craft fairs and Etsy or do you have some system for decreasing stock in your Etsy store when things sell?

Good question! Honestly I only have one stock and keep it all the same. If I sell something at a craft fair I make sure to mark it down and either adjust or take down the listing on Etsy! Thank you for watching! What items do you sell?

@@MeganMoves Thanks for the reply! My wife makes jewelry and we rockhound crystals to sell on Etsy under Ross & Marie. We just did our first event yesterday at a local fair and we loved it! We're trying to figure out a system. I've read that we can sync our square card reader with our Etsy store so it automatically deletes listings that sell. We might try that. But then again, manually removing listings as they sell just sounds easier than setting all that up. Thanks again!

Craft shows are a huge waste of time. You can expect to spend 10 to 20 hours prepping and being there. If you want to make $10 an hour, that’s an extra 200 bucks you need to bring in. And $10 an hour is a horrible wage. People finger the goods and make rude comments. I sold high-end alpaca knitted products. Maybe cheap stuff is different, but you would have to sell a lot of $.99 items to make your $200 for the time you wasted at the craft fair! The people who make money at craft fairs are the people who run the craft fair.

Totally not true… I do see ur point but I go to lots of craft fairs and I see lots of vendors get like 6 sales in 10 minutes. People were coming back to buy more. So I have no idea why ur so confident that craft fairs are a HUUUGE waste of time.

For many it is not just a business but a fun hobby. As she stated in the vid, she is also promoting her Etsy, where she will make future sales with little time or effort, maybe even gain some repeat customers.
