My own experience trying to sell pottery at a craft show for the first time. How did it go you ask? Did I make any money? Would I have done that show again?
Hopefully you can take away some good ideas and feel better about doing your own craft shows!

This was so reassuring 😭💕 I'm embarking on my very first art fair this Saturday and I'm so nervous!!!! I signed up thinking it was going to be a modest local event,,, but then I discovered 2 weeks ago this festival pulls in 7,000-10,000 attendees... 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Yeah! No research, no idea how much to sell stuff for, leaving everything to the last minute, (yes i just got a table cloth last night), just going off of good vibes and $20 in the bank hahahaha. Suffice it to say your video was a perfectly timed virtual hug. 💛 Thank you for the reassurance and a smile. Wish me luck mom!!!

I'm so glad it could encourage you! It's hard, going to one of those things thinking that everyone else knows what they're doing 😅. How did it go?

Wonderful story! I think that yours attitude is the best that you can have at any task, especially of creative matter. It's way better to take a joy from your work and andventures, than always counting profit, comparing yourself with others and avoiding to not to look silly - those are happy life killers. Besides learning new abilities in selling at shows you've made what kind of money? wow! And all that for your own craft wares and skills? wow! And all of this in happy mode, without sleeples nights and ripping hairs from head? Excellent! Thank you for sharing

As a rule of thumb, I can always tell if a show is good by how hard it is to get in. If its easy to get in stay away. I have found The Art Fair Sourcebook is a good reference to see how a show is rated in terms of sales.

Not my first show but my second show and so far my last show. I went to Virginia Beach and tried to sell paintings at the Neptune festival. I had original paintings, a few prints and some mermaid cards. The show cost me $3000. That included the booth fee and hotel and everything. I made $150 selling cards. 😢 it was a complete loss.

Hey, at 7:26 the frame shifted a lot. Nothing got cut off but just something to keep an eye out for.
