Logan, glad you received the cultivator teeth. I figured they would be better used by you than sitting in my shop. Instead of throwing out those imperfect tomatoes, maybe you can sell them as canning tomatoes. That condition is called green shoulder (although my mother used to aptly call it mustard top lol). The red pigmentation production is affected by the heat when the temperatures are around 90° or higher so those tops will never turn red, but the rest of the tomato is usable for making canned tomatoes, sauce, salsa etc. That does mean there is a fair amount of waste to them, but at least if you sell them as canners, they're not a complete loss and people can get some use out of them.
I always enjoy your videos Logan, your always so busy, all of you are. I often think how does anything grow in your rocky soul, but it does and it thrives, it baffles me. As always wishing you and your family the best, until next time take care. Caio
Nice to see a smart knowledgeable, young handsome man as yourself working and running such a large farm business with your family ! Very cool to watch your videos ! Keep up the good work ! Awesome job ! You are the American farmers !
The tomatoes plants looked great.you are right your tomato problem is heat. Ive been planting more than 40yrs. I live in Arizona our temperatures are normally from 100 to 118 but time we've had even 122F I just pulled my tomatoe plants out and another round.
I'm glad y'all had a good day at the market Logan. Sorry about your tomatoes. We've been in a full on drought here for nearly 2 months and I'm having a lot of problems with blossom end rot in my tomatoes. I addition to no real rain, we've had several 95 plus days on top of it.
I ordered some of those German Ruby's green tomato seeds a few years ago. They are absolutely mouth watering. I made fried green tomatoes and people wanted second helpings. I used to buy garlic in a jar. Now I get it at the farmers market. I like to roast mine and add butter and make fresh garlic toasted bread in the oven. You are 9 hours away from me or I'd be at your farm store and load up. Nice video, thanks.
Well done and great job Logan .. and absolutely another spectacular beautiful shooting filming footage compilation documentary countryside adventure and appreciate your efforts and hard work for sharing your beautiful adventure lifestyle and I'm looking forward to more adventures from your video channel .. thanks again and have a wonderful blessing weekend !!
I wish we had access to a farmers market here.. we used to have one on Wednesdays at Hillcrest Mall but they don't do that anymore.. :( Don't know why they stopped, it was really busy. We have many Mennonite farms just north of me. They produce good stuff also. I miss them. If I could drive I would go up there. I prefer locally grown produce to imported stuff. I've heard it said that it is healthier to eat things grown in your area, more compatible with your body? What do you say Logan, have you heard that as well? God bless you all, you work so hard every day.
The tomatoes w/the yellow shoulders are likely affected by sun damage. It's actually referred to as 'yellow shoulder'. Also explains why the fruits underneath the foliage aren't showing this physiological disorder.
Not sure if you do this in the US but in Australia we buy odd bunch tomatoes and other vegetables there is nothing wrong with them just a little different to what everyone expects the look of vegetables should be saves on waste just an idea
In the beginning of the video you showed how the tomatoes are doing in the greenhouse - it's bummer you have to throw them away 😕 can you sell them as they are? Maybe someone would buy them?! 🤔
These Tomato 🍅 Plants are Loaded. Ever consider making, jarring and selling Salsa ? I never make Salsa with Perfect Tomatoes 🍅 because there is NO reason to. 🤔👍
Also I have an amazing secret for field heat/heat induced wilting that we can not only make a popular video about but will save your crops/make you more money
Someone in my gardening group had the same tomato problem with the yellowing and top. The experts there all say it's a potassium shortage. Maybe try that out.
Please don't throw these gorgeous tomatoes just because they are not ripe to perfection... just give it away..create a small stand of free give away produce at your farm market shop, or donate them to the food bank..orphanage or any other food organisation..... they can always be used for sauces.... beautiful market with colourful produce❤.....
Hey not trying to start trouble. I really like your videos I watch them every time they are down loaded. But I think u should re watch your last video starting at 15.30 in the video. I hope I am wrong but I think the guy put money in his pocket. I really like your video.
Don’t throw out give to a church or an organization that feed the homeless or food bank. People would love to also use as canning or making salsa. Please don’t throw away.
Yeah, that looks like typical tomato sun scald- that is a shame. I have had it happen in my small greenhouse also. A big loss because, as you say, they are not marketable- otherwise your produce looks great.
Their biodegradable quality has an important advantage since these plastics don’t have to be removed at the end of the harvest. It’s more environmentally friendly. It can be tilled directly into the soil at the end of the season.
Your tomatoes look like they have sun scald, putting a shade cloth over the top of your high tunnel should prevent it. The sun is magnified by the plastic, much like using a mirror, magnifying glass or just plain glass. A shade cloth stops that
Why do you throw away the tomatoes you could pick the top tomatoes when they are green or make hot sauce or canned sauce with the red ones you were going to throw away. Such wasye to throw them away. I'm sure you could find something to do with them.❤
Thats a shame that you are throwing out a bunch of tomatoes that didn’t ripen properly, especially when there is still lots of usable flesh on each one that someone that cans would love to have. Why can’t you put a couple of fans in that high tunnel to help circulate and cool the air? A lot of high tunnel growers do that. Its better than letting a lot of your tomato fruit go to waste.
@@daveklein2826 Might be, but it’s still a big waste, when you know that there are folks that would make the most of them, like a homeless shelter or a local soup kitchen, etc. Sometimes, and as expensive as produce is for many in need, it would be nice for market farms to make gestures like that. Not saying that have to do it all the time, but occasionally they could.
