Recently relocated to South Carolina from Virginia, my new coworkers go hog hunting with nigh vision and a belt fed machine gun. Perfectly legal in the state by the way. Edit: Just got this video recommended to me again and saw all the replies from a year ago. To answer a few of the comments there is no statute that limits the use of a firearm for hunting in SC other than certain state owned lands, IE no shotguns in this area or typical safety that says you must be X feet off the ground with a rifle (know what is beyond your target). Helibacon is a company in Texas that lets your do exactly what I said but out of a helicopter. See other companies in other states such as Porkchoppersaviation, Sky-Hunter Outfitters. The states that I found online that allow you to use machine guns are, SC, TX, and OK

Love seeing a Brit that enjoys guns. That Garand is very accurate, but you have to sight it in.

I bought an M1 Garand thru CMP and it is the most satisfying gun I have to shoot. Hard to beat a gas operated 30-06 for big bang but good recoil. Very accurate and love the peep sites.

The M1 Garand was by far and away the best standard issue rifle of WW2. Faster rate of fire, faster reload, and faster follow up shots. It can definitely make an argument as being a reason we won WW2.

I do so hope you come back and visit the South , Midwest and Southwest. A Whole bunch different than NY.

Im Canadian and I never understood the people that come to the US or Canada, and confine themselves to the cities while going for all the touristy stuff. I just realized this prolly how we act in their countries too LOL.

Worked for a place just before the pandemic. They had a range open to employees. They also always had interns from other countries. I brought one of my custom built AK’s and one AR to work for some target shooting. I let one of the intern from Britain shoot them. He loved the AK the best. Took a shit load of pictures and video to send to his family and friends. I let him rip though about $200. In ammo that day.

Pre-1973 Browning A5 are made in Belgium after that they were made in Japan by how now how is a very good company they make quality firearms and that's why f n Belgian felt it was fine for them to subcontract out to how of Japan

There are plenty of accurate Garands, but most of those out there went through a World War, other conflicts, and then treated like garbage in arsenals before caring civilian owners were able to take care of them. Some Arisakas are very well made, nice rifles with incredible attention to detail in production. The Type 38s are the best. Early Type 99s can be good, but as the war progressed, they cut corners. Also, while some Arisakas were picked up in good condition and treated well, many others badly abused. In the 50's, US gun might have a wooden barrel with 30+ rifles just crammed in like breadsticks - it didn't improve their condition.

Europeans always got to New York or California and say that they've seen America. They've seen such a small subset of America. America is different from other countries in that there it is so big and there are so many different cultures. Most countries have a very homogeneous culture. I can drive 20 miles and meet people who live and think entirely different from me.

I'm from NJ, and our guns laws suck but thankfully they're not as bad as NY's. Those NYS compliant ARs are an abomination. I have been to Davis before, a handful of times. They are so overpriced and the owner is a jackass. My buddy did buy a colt from there though.

This isn't America, it's New York lol. I'm from the UK, but I live in America now. I lived in NYS for 12 years, and it is probably the worst place in the country as far as gun rights go. I now live in a free state, and it is a night and day difference. I hope your trip to America involves visiting some other states. If so, you're in for a treat!

In the past, there was no difference between a hunting rifle and a battle rifle. The ar15 itself is a traditional design being over half a century old.

My father brought two Arisakas back from the Pacific Theater. When asked how or where he got them, the answer was always, "the hard way." The one had a dust cover and the action was almost impossible with it. Removed, it was smooth enough but you wouldn't want to have to do it in a hurry or under pressure. The other was worse. It was later production and it showed everywhere. Then they were smashed to bits in a tornado. Just occurred to me.... their 1st owners came to a bad end, and the 2nd owner's house was leveled. Maybe it was for the best? I still want one, though.

A person never forgets the first time you fire an M1 Garand. I think I've had more people shoot my M1 than I've shot it myself. It's just fun watching people's reactions.
