Fun fact`: the licensed scooter taxi drivers (win) in orange or red wests in Bangkok are by law working directly with the royal Thai police as extra eyes/ears/witnesses against crimes and have often first eyes on a accident or crime. They are literally everywhere in Bangkok and latest numbers shows that there are about +90000 drivers and 5,564 motorcycle taxi stations in Bangkoks different districts total.. That's one of the less unknown reasons why bangkok is so safe to be in.. apart from all the police, locals and cameras that are everywhere too=)
scooter taxi is the best way to get around if u dont take the mrt or bts trains btw.. prices are after kilometers and are often between 10-40 baht ..tuktuk is only a tourist scam with absurd prices and grab taxi gets stuck in traffic often
pad kra pao Moo (pork) or pad kra pao gai (chicken) with egg is my go to breakfast living here in Bangkok ..cost about 40-50 baht in the non tourist places that are better and cleaner and cheaper than the touristplaces =)
You are doing it right the bargaining you were low key direct and respectful any food that's been sitting around try to avoid anything that's cooked for you or peeled you'll be fine no matter where it's at your hotel room if I was you I would shop around Bangkok is a big city no matter your budget congrats on getting there enjoy it's the best place to be just need time to soak it all in good luck to you
There is no such thing as a FREE Tuk-Tuk ride! It's only free because the driver is paid a commission when he takes you to jewelry store or tailor shop. This scam is not life-threatening, just annoying!
When thai dude claimed he would give a free ride around the city, was that the famous "tuk-tuk scam" I keep hearing about. Stopped at any gold/souvenir shops so he can get a commission?
