Join my friends and I as we embark on our first day of pharmacy school adventure at University of the Pacific's Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences! There were only two pharmacy classes that day, so we got to do quite a lot of other fun activities! We went to Starbucks, went to a cycle class at the Baun Fitness Center, cooked dinner, went shopping at Target, got milkshakes from Sonic, and overall had a fun day!

Hi Katie, I am an undergrad student studying b pharmacy and after that I wanna study doctor of pharmacy and hence I think I'll be admitted directly in the 4th year of the programme. Then my course will be of 3 years right? . My question is that are there any placement at UOP and is this university expensive?? Please reply it would mean the world to me cause googling it confuses me even more. Thank you.

hello! are you doing your undergrad somewhere else other than UOP? if so, then yes you will be doing 4 years of undergrad before going to pharmacy school. pharmacy school at UOP is 3 years (2 years didactic in classrooms, and 1 year on rotations). I’m not really sure what you mean by “placement” but to answer your final question, I would say that university is quite expensive

@@Katie_Lee By placement i meant that the university itself provides us job right? And if I'm doing my undergrad here in India and then i have to do another 4 years in UOP? That's like 8 years just undergard. I would be an international student and hence I asked that I'll be admitted directly in the 2nd year of didactic period....???

my apologies! I wrote that part wrong. so after you complete your undergrad in India, then you would be doing 3 years of schooling at UOP. the 3 years of pharmacy school is separate from the 4 years of undergrad, so you’d be starting at the first year of didactic rather than the second. the university does not provide you with a job, but it does provide you with unpaid pharmacy experience while you’re a student. hopefully that helps!

Hi, for the application to UOP pharmacy school, do you turn all documents through Pharmcas? Do you have to turn any documents directly to UOP?

Hi!! I love the video. I was just wondering since you did the PrePharm 2+3 did that mean you had to do some coursework during the summer to finish pre pharm within 2 years?

hi!! yes, I did have to take two courses over my first summer. I was able to have my second summer off since I transferred over credit for AP calc! :)

@@Katie_Lee wow that's great!! So you did those two courses all summer long? Also, if you didn't transfer over any AP Calc credit, would've you had to take that one more course during your 2nd summer?

it wasn’t all summer long! I still had a break because the classes only ran for 1 summer session. I don’t exactly recall but I believe that I had a couple weeks off, summer school, a couple weeks off, and then school started. if I didn’t have the AP calc credit, then I would have had to take a class during my second summer

Did you manage to get some scholarships and financial aid in college to relieve some of the burdens of pharm school and undergrad tuition?

@@Katie_Lee I got accepted into the 3+3 pharm program but I’m kind of burdened by the tuition. Also are all pharm students put into to the Chan family hall and are you using one solo or with others?

congrats on your acceptance! i will admit- tuition is very expensive. undergrad pre-pharm students will not live in chan, as that’s for pharmacy students only. there are a lot of options for undergrad housing if you want to live on campus! if you want to live on campus as a pharmacy student though, you’ll be living in chan. i only got to live in southwest part of my freshman year (due to covid), which for me, was a single room. typically rooms are double rooms though. in chan, i’m currently living in an apartment style building with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and common area.

for thanksgiving, i went home in my P1 year but didn’t in my P2 year because we had a pretty big exam that first Monday back. I’ve gone home every spring break though!
