What a joke. The blonde first started off saying it was like her first day of school, and then goes on to say that you should vote based on personal values and not based on values the people you represent.
The blonde, though, is the professional politician who studied and researched her job and has a better image of what she's voting for. She's deffinetly more qualified to take an important decision over a 10 thousand people who are ignorant on a matter of importance or even worse semi-educated about it, which means they don't have a full image of what's at stake. Are you sure the will of the people is always for the best?
@@mrawesome1688 Yes it is. You can't trust people to take decisions about your life who don't know the reality you live in because clearly these people live in a different privileged reality. Civilians of each country should have their needs heard and satisfied not a random politician's personal agenda. It disgusts me how we have less and less control over our own countries and allow random Brussels bureaucrats who have never been in these countries to make policies about them. As I said, disgusting.
@johnnyklash5883 ok, then if you want it different. Do what fidias did. Apply in the elections as a politician. That's what democracy is for, right? Anyone can apply as long as he is a citizen of his country. When you are there, though, and they are asking you how to solve problems of great scale and magnitude, let's see how you will handle it. And then we can judge you the same way you judge these people now. Always, it's easy to judge when you are not in the shoes of the other person. Really, I would love to see the man who would do better. I m not saying this politicians are perfect they are far from it. But neither I trust just everyone to decide for important matters. In Plato's Republic, Socrates argues with someone, asking him who should choose the captain of a ship, common people or sailors who are experienced and possess the knowledge necessary about survival on ships. Personal Agenda or not, a politician is way more qualified in political matters just as a sailor is in nautical matters. The title politician doesn't necessarily make a person ethically correct, but it does show his expertise on matters of politics.
Yea ..democracy..if I were in EU you would have to speak your national languange. The UK has left EU but left behind its language without which there is no EU
@@mrawesome1688 You do realise that not everyone votes right? The assumption that centralised planning or centralised politics is best is completely false. No matter how experienced in politics you are, you are only one person's worth of experience. The people who care about a problem the most and are educated about it themselves will vote for their side and so too will the opposition, the rest of the people either won't vote at all or their votes will cancel each other out if they take a neutral position. The minority will only vote for the minority and assuming that the modern world is civilised and has less tolerance of racism and discrimination, then the votes will largely be swayed by those who are actively voting for their side. If we are to pick between two captains, then it won't matter whether the sailors are voting or the people, since most people are not sailing so they won't vote and those who do will be a random choice
Fidia thanks for the transparency! Its generally presented as a high pre-existing knowledge is needed to survive in Politics But in reality you need a perspective of reasoning. And in politics its all confirmation “bias” of each party I like your positivity and i hope you are not discouraged by the “amount of work” that it seems to be needed
Come on Fidias! Cyprus supports you and will continue to do so. Trust people’s will but also improve your critical thinking by reading books and discussing with the others, so as to provide us the correct data for your future decisions. 💙
5:15 really interesting of doing democracy in a new way. It always worked that way. Majority voting 5:31 I will enforce my agenda no matter what the majority says

I'm not sure the older lady is the lier whom no one is to trust, but I sure as hell wouldn't trust the Danish girl. She says she was shocked about the tone of the discussions in the hemicircle, but she herself is actually very aggressive without being very knowledgeable. She'll wreak much damage yet.

Had a photo-read-scan run on the comments section and what seems to be truly grasping the viewers' attention is how awkward and rather embarrassing is the video appearance of the other two ladies; something that wouldn't become noticeable without the presence of Fidias which apparently, is catalytic. Even though young and promising, those women seem to expose an EU that the people of Europe have stopped trusting decades ago; a Europe that keeps making the same mistakes all over again and again; a Europe that focuses on the economy as the main pilar of its sustainability and still not being able to make even a tiny progress at least on that, even if it is the wrong pilar to build a strong foundation upon. The main pilar will always be a vision for a European Constitution; innovative and enlightening at its core, exceeding by far that of the Unites States (let us not forget that Europe is formed by states united as well). FYI in my country Greece the tv viewings and ratings are measured with 1.000 devices randomly placed in households across the Greek territory. 1.000 devices are enough to measure what the majority of 10M people seem to find more attractive to view. Same goes with politics polls; a sample of a few thousands is enough to record the public's tensions and the election body's intentions which is millions of people. Statistics may sound like a boring subject if approached strictly numerically and mathematically, but it can also be approached in the most creative ways and resonate with all kinds of mindsets. Without Fidias podcast, this interview would only be shown more or less to the same audience that has always been shown, sharing the same ideas and having the same reactions, it is a micro community thing (that said, it would be interesting to read the people's comments under the official upload channels of the other three participants). On the other hand, Fidias community of followers is not shaped according to his politic views; there is zero bias connecting his audience with any politic party therefore this a great sample of modern everyday people who simply enjoy engaging to some fun content on youtube every now and then, quite random indeed. Anyhow, the point is that large groups of people can be easily manipulated and guided, while on the presence of virgin authentic raw innocent political "tabula rasas" like Fidias, an alchemic process seems to initiate, ignited by the force of liberation and emancipation of the crowds, firing up the reflexes of what is generally known as the "popular-folk wisdom". People's wisdom does exist. All you need is to water the seed and it will flourish. In an effort to visualise the overall picture herein, the video looks like a dry ground with a modernised ambience to make it look cool like the blinking lights on the top of the wind turbins viewed at a distant ridge on a summer night, while the comments section feels more like there is some real natural green actually popping out of this dry ground. So who is the real green? Who is truly sustainable? Who is the one to change the climate? Cause there is no thing such as stopping the climate change; climate in general is a word of greater meaning; and we, as active citizens ow to change the climate immediately. Meanwhile, the old school politicians are carrying "woke" agendas urging us to stop it from changing?! See how they manage to manipulate the psychology of the thinking public and turn it into clueless masses? Fidias gives FREE voice to his followers in such a beautiful way, that it won't be exaggerating to say that the European parliament members could find more valuable feedback right here, in this podcast, instead of wasting enormous amount of time in committees and bodies with fancy acronyms to sort out what is the purpose of whatever is that they are doing; but no, they are too busy playing power games. Am following the developments of Fidias newborn story with excitement and I can't wait to see what more there is to bring on the table. Congrats to the Cypriot voters for this amazing shot they decided to take with Fidias. I am sure he has followers from all over the globe (though I can't tell exactly the demographics), but hey, let's face it, speaking of Europe, we can't expect miracles to happen but desperation and despair is so toxic and Fidias is part of the antidote for sure :)
I don't usually read long comments, but I´m glad that I read this one. You provide a quite clear-headed perspective on Fidias´ possible impact on contemporary EU Politics. I´m also curious about the paradigm shift that he can cause by trying to decode and amplify the real workings of Brussels.
@@JoaoClaro-qz6zz it means a lot to know that there is at least one person feeling like this three minute read wasn't a waste of his/her time :) To be frank, it is the first time I feel like getting to follow closely the course of an MEP, and the first time I commented on an MEP's social content, ever! Fidias grabbed the attention of people "out of the box"; the ones least expected to turn a head and see what is - actually - happening now in Brussels. A great challenge to tackle and against all odds, he can surely make the difference and be a true pioneer towards creating an informational platform that could resonate with the now rising faster than ever contemporary (spot on), social-political culture represented by the healthy minds in Europe, and worldwide. The world is changing.
I though that for the Danish girl (whom I don't consider very bright), even though she's all about environment, the bigger evil was not the supposedly unsustainable gas, but the fact that it was Russian.
only you in this debate care about the people. The ladies are there to get well payed. Nothing more / nothing less. Go for it, Fidias. ALWAYS ASK THE CITIZENS OF EUROPE !!! That's the only way.
Because it's Representative Democracy not direct Democracy. No representative can ever vote 100% of the way each of their voters wants 100% of the time.
So the blonde next to you does not care about the opinion of the people who voted her 🤔 at least Fidias does , that’s what democracy is, doing the will of people even if you (as a politician) disagree. Ευχαριστουμε Φίδια για τα polls και που ενδιαφέρεσε για τις απόψεις μας
When one is chosen to be a leader, it doesn't mean that they need to do everything what people say. I agree with her because sometime people are not educated enought to know what is good for general public.
@@aodriseuwhile i think youre basicly right but there is a Big but. You can break down really complicated topics freyman method and explain them to children. Congrats Fidias. will make his way in the EU Parlament. He's channel is realy good. But the biggest problem from the EU is Ursula von der Leyen.. She is a shame for Europe. The EU should repeat the election.
Fidias, your progress in all matters during this short period of time is impressive! Add to this your genuine and honest character and then you have a politician that the establishment will have a rough time with. Congratulations and may Strength be with you ❤

interesting suggestion about slowing down and giving more time for consideration for important decisions in Brussels, what do people think? I'm all for, especially when the decisions are very important.
Keep your freshness brother all the way up to the end. Keep it fresh. That is the no1 challenge you are facing now. Even if you had a team of 2.000 ppl working for you, 90 minutes would never be enough not only to choose between seventeen candidates for the vice presidency; not even if they were just two. The Euronews should have had a short interview of the vice president as well, but by now, we don't even know his/her name. There is a good possibility of course that the position is highly decorative like most of them are; meanwhile, the EU keeps creating more of these positions like the commissioner of European defence. It is funny when you think about it, but even the progressive Danish or the green Swedish at the panel, addressed to Russia like it is a foreign body to the EU; a threat that is been realised as a potential enemy. *** Russia should be faced from the EU's perspective, as a challenge to optimise the functions of its body's largest part. *** It is so simple and a fact for a fact historically, socially and economically: Europe without Russia is amputated. We need to do all things peace with our neighbour. Think about it for a second: If Russia would ever join the EU like the UK did, that would be followed by a Russexit or what ever they would name it. I mean for us Europeans, Russia is to the East what the UK is to the west of our borders. Northerns on the other hand, with the viking blood running in their veins, can hardly understand what the east and the west is all about. They have always been dreaming on how to get from the north down to the south (they even conquered South Africa, always facing on that direction, true story 🫠🤗). So one can see why we definitely need more love in the parliament which means more open hearts, brave enough to admit the hard truths. If the EU parliament manages to mutually agree and homonymously consent on acknowledging the hard truths, then it would have taken the super role it deserves and we could possibly reach to the point where the ultimate goal of declaring a solid European Constitution won't be a vision any more, but a real event. And guess what the backbone of such a constitution would be: Yes, you got that right, EDUCATION - ΠΑΙΔΕΙΑ. The Alpha and Omega of all things politics my friends. PS. Young fresh good looking smiling sweet women but one just cannot stop keep getting the embarrassing vibe from them being shallowed by the system. That's why I am telling you Fidias, keep it fresh and most important by far keep it real my brother. You are not alone.
The Danish girl does not sound very progressive to me, actually, but rather like an opportunist who's caught on the general tendencies in politics and is now vigourously voicing views without understanding what they are all about. I mean, she is all about climate change - more than the Swedish MEP - but whenever she speaks about importing gas from Russia, the fact that it is from Russia seems to matter more to her than the fact that it is a supossedly unsustainable resource.
The Treaty of Lisbon, which came into effect on December 1, 2009, is one of the most significant treaties in the history of the European Union (EU). It strengthened EU governance and deepened political and economic integration among member states. One of the main focuses of the treaty is promoting social and economic cohesion among European citizens.
Fidias could you host a podcast with Vlad Vexler about the relationship of Europe with Russia and what type of peace we could hope for? That would be awesome!
What amazed me is how quick they changed from Fidias and how short time he had. Even the thing with 1 hr and half. People keep taking him as a joke. They are joke. You rock Fidias
Not quite a debate but interesting. It seemed like the two in a party said a lot of words without saying anything. But a question from an ignorant American. How can there be pending legislation when the legislators just got there and committees were just settled? In the US Congress a bill is written by the representative/senator then introduced in a committee. The committee then marks up the bill and votes on amendments before voting on the whole. Then the bill is presented to the whole chamber for a vote.

I think fidias really smashed this - embarrassing the other self interest politicians who talked about why they would vote for what they want even if their people didn't want them OR the need to make alliances just for your own interest
Do any of these politicians have any background with real jobs? Have they ever traveled to other countries outside this role? Prioritizing climate change and minority rights...what about important economic issues? Or dealing with Russian aggression against European Union countries and friends?

While he should have been aware of everything going on in the political arena of Europe and the world, he is correct that as a new politician and young person he should be afforded more time so he can independently become aware of the powers on the board. Unfortunately he is behind his opponents who are locked in the game for longer than him and are more aware of the arena. He points out his disadvantage and they allude to him needing a team to help him make decisions, unfortunately the teams are riddled with too many minds and you get nothing done that way. It’s always an uphill battle with these people who have nothing but self interest as their agenda.
