I've know Bill for many years, He and his wife, Linda, are fantastic people. Everything he does is well thought out and meticulously completed the correct way, as the video clearly shows. His retirement objective was to finally finish his dream vehicle, after many years of hard work, and make a few passes. Unfortunately, his health prob. won't allow. Looks like he sold it to the right people, make him proud. My heart broke for him the day we pushed the Lancer into the back of your trailer knowing that he would prob. never be able to make a pass. Please keep him in the Loop, and your prayers.
Called it in the last video comment section!!! 62 lancer GT! You don’t see any around these days! Congrats on finding that beauty! Been branching off into the mopar world lately myself. Just recently help build a big block 67 Belvedere 2 door post drag car.
Nice and Unique project car to get your experience in Drag Racing with. Hope you plan on installing an quality On-Board Fire Safety system, Robust Hardline Fuel System and Stopping Power(parachute?). Gotta keep you safe.
Always nice when an old guy can see a long overdue project come to fruition even if it's under other hands, as long as the auto-passion is there. That car has lots of love in it.. looks so unique and splashy... Just right for Collete
Shout out to Bill for selling you the best looking car on the compound, im not even a Dodge fan but love all the old 40-60s styling. Good luck on the build.
That thing looks legit! Can't wait to see it bring the front tires off the ground. I have a feeling this won't be the only drag car at the compound for long.
Thought the same thing, It actually shares the same body as the Chrysler valiant compact. the lancer GT is an "upmarket" version of the valiant getting nicer trim, lights, interior etc as well as the 225ci "hyper pak" slant 6.
Can’t wait to see the turn out man that is an amazing car and a one of a kind purchase with all the organization that came with it hope the original owner loves the turn out!
This car is the reason why the Mitsubishi Lancer had to be rebadged as the Mirage here in the USA for the longest time... Because Dodge held the usage rights to the name, and refused to allow Mitsubishi to use it. Idk what happened to make that change, but obviously it did in 2002
Ask Bill if his username is Lancer493, found it on a forum while looking up the motor for that car. That guy was also building a tube chasis lancer back in 2016.
@@ColleteDavis just want you to be safe and being new to 1000hp drag cars with big tires are much different then drift cars like you want alot of flex in your rear tire so it will bite and they can be a little hairy on the top end I mean 8.50 should be like 160 or above just be prepared please we need many years of content form one of the best RU-vidrs
You know Luv. I think it is so great women, and not just butch tomboy more of a man then woman type but beautiful feminine women are racing and whoopin ass on the streets and tracks. You are gorgeous and I hope you woop the hell out of the men. I look forward to seeing it. This is the first time I see your channel. Beautiful car and gorgeous women. What more could us men want. Except now the lovely ladies are behind the wheel. Thank you so much for waking people the hell up. True there are some things women shouldn't do but racing high horse power beasts are not one of them.
Shoutout to Bill! Dang the car is nice and the organization and documentation of parts is amazing! Sad he never finished his 20 year project but you'll do him proud for sure
Bill is my father in law. He loved this car. I know he is happy you are going to race it. Make him proud❤️❤️. He would love to watch you race this car I’m sure. Thank you so much
Cool looking car for sure , instead of making engine mounts work you should make motor plates like what's already in it, seems better for tube frames ?
You can tell that this car had to be a hard decision for Bill to let it go. Make him proud, because he definitely put a lot of love and effort into it.
I have known Bill since 1990, worked with him for 26 years. Very Talented Car Guy! At work he was known as the Electrical Guru! He built and raced a Big Block Nova in the 70s up in Connecticut. This was his Dream Project, He wanted something Different from all the Camaros and Mustangs. This was it! I'm just Sick that he fell on Health issues and could not complete and Drive the Car! At least He will see it in Action! Take Good Care of His Baby !
@@ColleteDavis Kevin Smith - KSR is certainly more knowledgeable and expert in fabrication and actually building a racing vehicle. -> Remember Kevin built "Mullet" successfully, among many others in his shop. This Lancer GT is clearly these base chassis, and body of the same Plymouth Valiant, Dodge Lancer, Dart of the early 1960's -> 1961-4. The Lancer GT was only a 1962 model. Nothing actually Japanese about the styling - rather common for the early 1960's among the USA manufactures. This is quite similar with the 1961-3 Buick Skylark, without the rear fins, which are from the latter 1950's styling and not so different from the Ford Falcon of these same years. Also a Studebaker Lark is quite similar too. The Japanese many have copied these lines with some of their early vehicles too. You also probably though of not only inviting Bill to Your early drag runs with this vehicle [which he can certainly be assistance with Your build and drag racing success too], perhaps also to the event on Woodward Ave, in MI, if he is able [or maybe his son too]. All The Best and Much Success in Your Quest, Health, Happiness and Well Being. 😊 Sincerely. ☺
@@prohimself8282 Garrett is good with marketing, promotion and such. Along with producing exciting video content and events. His major success in racing began with the additions and working relationships with Jermey [fasterproms] and Kevin Smith [KSR]. Garrett's most successful vehicle and which worked flawlessly during it s first event in 2021, "Mullet" was done by Kevin Smith. The other struggles in 2021 with "Mullet" were with others involved, changing, modifying, etc. which are not as good and lack the expertise of Kevin. Also with pushing that El Camino beyond its original platform, use, performance it was intended and developed for. Look at their current continual struggles and results -> clearly a lacking in proper information, knowledge, process, methods and the proper use for proper, assessment, evaluation, determination, analysis, etc. There is a reason Alex Taylor with her father Dennis have their successes and won the event last yer on Woodward Avenue too. Add others like Justin Sherer [Chief], Larry Larson, Jeff Lutz, and similar, et al. All The Best 😊 Sincerely ☺
I think that as a tribute to the original builder, youo should keep as many of the little touches from him as possible throughout the build! It's really obvious he put his heart and soul into the build!
I gotta say I like you and Adam however I've never been really into drifting enough to watch more than the odd video here and there. This drag racing content will bring me around I think! Cool car and smart advertising idea for Dodge
Huge shoutout to Bill, that is a clean build and you can tell how much love was put into it! Glad you're keeping him apart of it! Can't wait to see you ripping this thing!
Damn right, this build is gonna be unbelievable. And after seeing everything that came with the car and all the paperwork is going to make this an epic build and it's going to be worth its weight in gold. I can't wait to see you and nick² knock this one out of the park.
You mentioned getting KSR the last video. Get Keven involved as soon as he is available in no prep the suspension is everything !!!!!!! Love the car choice get a hold of Cleetus and motion for the rest of what you need !!!!!! Alex Taylor is bringing a Drag Ready 55 Dodge and they will also be bad ass. Two Strong Women in Finals would be amazing !!!!!!!! Nitrous for the win !!!!!!
Big shout out to Bill!!!!! That car is badass and I can tell why it took him 19 years to get to this point. His work is so clean, and done right!! Build a car right the first time you won’t have to do it again.
I love the unique styling of that car. I don't know who your competition is going to be but I feel sorry for them already. What an awesome car. You can tell Bill took a lot of pride in that car he definitely needs to see it when it's done
Alex Tyler, Tavarish, Westen Champlin, Christina Roku, Demonology, Corrupt builds, and David Patterson plus a few others but the only two Collette has to worry about is Alex Tyler and Westen Champlin those are the two that will give team Davis a run
Save the damn engine and trans…….when your done with your engine/trans…….put the original back in …….and you gotta call it “Killer Bill”……👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Classic old Mopar go fast Car's, with a 440's or a 426 Hemi's nice old School, But a Newer Hellcat Hemi is better!! How can you not Love the Body style. In the late 70's into the 80's this car was a Bad ass ride at any street Racing I went to. Collette your one Lucky Woman! Go Fast but stay Safe.
Congrats! Love that car and the history regarding the build. Btw, the trans is called a torqueflite-727 incase you were wondering haha. Best of luck on your pursuit to Roadkill Nights!
Only one flaw with your statement. She’s a new driver, it’s going to be tough with drivers like demonology that have experience. Not saying it’s impossible though
I'll bet with a fuel cell in there, this engine would already push about 700 to 1200 hp,deafanatly keep for another project. The car looks great, you should get him to sign the dashboard, lol.
I am beside myself with excitement!! Bill built an amazing chassis! I guarantee you're going to be hooked on drag racing once you do your first transbrake launch!
That's a awesome car it just needs a rear drag wing and I would run it on methanol instead of ethanol if it's gonna be just a drag car but if you're planning on making it a drag and drive car ethanol will be ok
That car is so damn cool. LOVE IT!!! That is a tribute to drag racing's roots. Built a 65 Coronet once, those old Mopar's had some interesting body lines. Kind of a shame about not doing a Cuda, yet this is better. Your videos are sooooo much better than some others who have way more subscribers. I mean you are actually racing and providing some info, not just showing people what high dollar toy they are buying with the money they are getting from being popular. So, Thanks!!!
You hit the jackpot . Hold on to the drive train as long as you can. The Dana rear will take a beating and keep on ticking, So would that transmission. Just life drifting have fun with when you go drag racing. Its alot of fun and meet a lot of life long friends that become more family along the way. Mopar no car lol
10 out of 10!! What a car! It will certainly be the coolest car at whatever event you go to and I imagine by this time next year the thing will be iconic. Miracle score, congratulations!
Am I the only one that is kind of sad for Bill. 20 years into this project. Happy to hear he's totally on board with this project and seeing it through.
Oh weird bought not built... but you get it lady!!! Be proud... And we should all ban LOF ,HES ALL NEDATIVE...NEW SAYING ,DONT END UP ON LOP....DO YOU EVEN DRAG RACE??
This is absolutely amazing!! It's something unique that you don't see very often and the build quality is top notch! I totally agree with you about the styling. Virgil Exner was the designer, and he really was an expert in the art of body lines. My grandpa had a 61 Plymouth Valiant. It was black with a funky green plaid interior, pushbutton TourqueFlite, with a Slant 6. My dad came home from the hospital in that car when he was born. It was one of grandpa's favorites that he owned. Best of luck to you with the racing. That's going to turn lots of heads! 😀
Bonjour, Hello Congratulation and thanks at Bill thé ''Clean Man''.Wouaouw All IS Clean. Félicitations and Good Luck at Twice. Juste Continu...F²FromFrance Peace ✌🏽
Beat Adam to building a tru drag setup 😉. This is pretty awesome seriously. I’m ready 🍿🍻🖤👊🏼 And to Bill , you and your son did a amazing job sir, 💯respect 🦾
What do you want to sell the 496 for?? That's a 600hp/800torque na engine... I'll bet money that car would be faster with the big block verses the hemi.... judging by the data stamp on the china wall of the engine that's a 440 based stroker engine. Sell it to me or a mopar guy to be appreciated. That's easily 15k to build that engine..... or keep it and throw it back in after roadkill nights. The torque will blow your mind...
I CALLED IT!! I said Lancer! Do I win a shirt or something? Lol! Really like the body lines and color. The builders did an amazing job, especially seeing how far back the engine is. That's what you want for traction and faster times. You got a great car to build and I bet you whoop some butt when finished!!
