I've owned a mid-70's Aston V8 for 20 years now, and the single best upgrade was converting the automatic transmission (which many of them had) to a Tremec 6-speed. It transformed the car from a leisurely boulevard cruiser to serious British muscle. Anyways, 20 years later and the love affair continues unabated. What can I say...These are really awesome cars!
Maybe I'm old but, this generation of Astons appeals so much more than modern cars. An armchair to recline in and a load of grunt from the engine bay. Dials a plenty and no touch screens to frustrate. Utterly gorgeous. Thanks for the video.
The 1980 V8 Vantage with that blocked off front grill/rally lights is epic. The recent $1.5billion lottery had me dreaming of a DB4 GT Zagato. Love the old Astons.
Am I wrong for believing that as we get more and more into EVs the classics market is going to explode? I can’t think of anything new I’d just need to have if I had the money, but I can think of 10 classics I’d gladly splurge on if I had the money.
You should get one, the lightly modified / modernised black one with tan interior is lovely. Keep up the content on this type of car and the 911 restoration, variety is great and helps broaden your audience.
Mate this suits you so well. DBS of this era are definitely overlooked and if sorted can be a very rewarding drive and that rumbling V8 wow. I would still love to see you back in an Aston as I loved your Vantage AMR. Great stuff Tom
You've either got a door not shut or a problem with the interior lights as the interior light switch (which is on the bank by the ignition key) is not switched down, but the lights are on.
This was so good! What an amazing company and it’s so cool to see older Aston’s. I love the classic content more Please as some of it reminds me of when I was a kid and growing up.
The DB7 saved Aston Martin Company from going bankrupt. Sadly all Porsche 911's look the same, all McLarens look the same and all Aston Martins since the DB7 was launched look the same.
I grew up with the V8 Vantage, and lusted after the V8 Vantage Volante PofW ..... the perfect Aston 80's car. PofW was a limited run of a car that was spec by the Prince of Wales hence PofW
Lovely cars and a great drive. One point of order though: Utter balls about these being a good investment and being at the bottom of the curve. They were £15k at one point, the price is softening if anything.
These Astons were my poster cars as a kid. The later Aston Vantage 550/600 are my dream cars! Cheers Tom, John. (late 60's DB5''s S/H were around £1500!).
Was walking around some random garages today while I got my tyres replaced, spotted a few nice porsche including a very nice brown one with a recogniseable number plate. Was a nice surprise
Personally I would pass on those older Aston’s and get a Virage 6.3 wide body they look perfect with the OZ wheels and Nardi steering wheel not to mention 500bhp 👌
12K views, 444 thumbs up, (at time of writing) what is wrong with people 😡 Top quality content Tom, can't go wrong with an Aston Classic, keep up the good work mate!!
If it brings joy and you can afford it, why not? Edit: and yes, most of the people complaining about ULEZ are exempt for one reason or another. The big issue are pre-dieselgate vans, and some cars from the 90s.
It's quite an achievement for someone to pull off two such remarkable feats for the same video, which underscores the unmistakable prestige of your channel. If you like it, buy it. Whether it's an old one updated for modernity or one that's identical to the factory model, it will cater to your personal taste. Neither of the choices will be wrong, just as evident by Jay Leno, who readily embraces both
Tom I’m surprised you haven’t got one already. I live in Massachusetts and they love AM’s over here. Get one asap and do the resto. Would make great content
This is brilliant! There ìs a Bond theme here. The DB2/4 Mk III spotted paint off having body work done, is actually the only Aston model to feature in the books (in Goldfinger), whilst the DBS features in the film of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
About time you looked at a British classic if not DBS why not a series 3 jenson interceptor .. Chicane do awesome work any Aston Martin owner should seek them out
Superb classic cars. But like any classic you have to recognise that these expensive cars are now well beyond their design life and even the best original car will require significant deconstructive refurbishment just to preserve them. So massive disassembly is essential. And these cars are a composite alloy steel construction which adds another difficult dimension.
I love the blue interior mate, I'd have that in a heart beat. The black resto really is a nice bit of kit, seats look like lounge chairs lol. Could see you rolling up to a cars and coffee with the wife, dogs in the back.
Tom I know your not a biker but you should get into it. Have a look at thornton hundred bobber you will love them.. Take your brother I'm sure he would love a go on 1. Very popular with celebs.
