The Jaguar XK150 has its place in Classic Car history, epitomised by its motorsport legacy and simply irresistible styling. Jaguars are a firm favourite of the Fuel Up Classic channel, so I take out this stunning classic car out for my very first drive in it to give you my honest first impressions and let you know whether it disappoints or not.

Had one as my daily driver in the 70s. Could sit on 100mph with your elbow on the door capping. Best with overdrive.

The XK is my favorite as well. The E type is nice, but give me an XK.

@@chrism9901 I think it has more style, curves, clearly Art Deco influences, and really is a significant evolution of Sir William Lyon’s styling with lovely details. The E-Type shares a lot of that but is a bit less curvy.

I was looking for a guy just like you to review the XK 150, got a true feeling of what it would be like to drive one of the XK 150, They are much more of what I love about the XK's in this case... more is better.

i bought the four-door sedan version, but i prefer these 150 DHCs. BTW, the driver's unfamiliarity with driving a LHD car is shown in his tendency to drive over the lane marker. something i tended to do with my RHD car in america.

Wow! Scary! Yield the center line. My missed Jaguars. First was the 53' XK-120 my mom wouldn't let me buy when I was in high school, but I did get to drive it out into the countryside and fondly remember the straight pipe exhaust sound reverberating off the hills. Priceless. Next was a 51' racing model with the two little folding windscreens. It was to be mine, but the owners dad bought at the last minute so his son wouldn't lose it in a divorce. Next up was another XK-120, but it sold just before I got there, but the owner also had XK-140 coupe and a Drophead. The coupe was decent, but the Drophead had serious top issues, They were both about $500.00, but I declined and the owner called as I was walking away and offered the coupe for $400.00, but I walked away(STUPID!). I was so intent on getting an XK-120 nothing else would do. More recently, I thought I had bought a 3.8S Saloon. Made the deal and paid for it, but didn't have my trailer to take it home. Next morning the guys wife rather defensively called and said they had sold it on a phone call from someone in San Francisco for more money. And so it goes............. Enjoyed the ride 👍👍

Thank you for watching. It sounds as though an XK has escaped you so far, but hopefully one may still come along. After spending time with this one, it is certainly on my list of future purchases. As a side note, thank you for your concern regarding the centre line! It seems to be a hot topic with anyone not from the UK, or those who do not regularly experience our extremely narrow rural country lanes! This was filmed on almost entirely private roads/or roads in which you can see for miles ahead following a camera vehicle (a viewpoint you do not see in the video), but rest assured there's absolutely no safety concerns whatsoever. Sadly, it also necessary to cross the centre line on occasions when navigating huge potholes at the side of the road, as I would hate to buckle the wheel or worse of a £150,000 Jaguar.

My grand mother had a FHC XK150 BRG chrome wire wheels, 3.4 engine, beautiful car, it was not by any means a slow car. Jaguar won LeMans 1955 56 57, by using disc brakes Mercedes Benz, Porsche, etc did not trust them, the D types could out brake them, ( the D type had straight line top speed of almost 180mph! )

Thank you! It’s great to hear you enjoyed the video. I have to agree the XK 150 is a brilliant car and it was spectacular to drive. I hope to feature more classic Jaguars on the channel in the coming months.

I'm late to the party on this one, recently found your excellent channel. I'm a big fan of the XK120 & XK140; if you ever get the chance you could run through the roadsters, dropheads and fixed heads of those different cars. It would make a lovely collection of videos on the channel.

Welcome to the channel and it's great to hear you're enjoying the videos. I really like the idea of running the different variations and models of XK120 and XK150. If I can organise the cars, I will certainly do it. Matt

I love the car. Just curious, why were you driving so close to the centre line, sometimes with your wheels over it, and sometimes with both wheels in the oncoming lane? Even with traffic coming at you, you were on the line, and over it, as the startled onccomers veer to their left to avoid you. Edit: I almost deleted that comment, as I realised the probable reason. You were unaccustomed to driving a left-hand drive car, so your judgement was off. I'm surprised the camera operator wasn't waving you back into your lane though. Could have been a tragedy, in many ways.

Thank you for your concern. Actually the reason is that most of this was filmed on private roads and extremely narrow country lanes riddled with potholes. Neither our filming vehicles (Range rovers and a VW Golf) or the Jaguar could possibly fit down without crossing the white line on occasions and hitting a huge pothole could be disastrous. I have several LHD vehicles, and they pose no issue whatsoever on UK roads, but hitting a huge pothole (of which we have far too many) in a £150,000 Jaguar is potentially far more dangerous than veering over a white line, when you can see the road is perfectly clear for several hundred yards in front of you.

@@fuelupclassic Thanks for the explanation. I live in an area with a lot of logging trucks, so I sympathise with your problem. I too weave around a bit to preserve my suspension.

@@clausmadsen6754 Probably exacerbated by our awful roads! The ride is naturally firm on the XK but it is nearly 70 years old, so easily forgiven.
