I remember learning to drive with my parents was really hard. We’d get into arguments and I ended up learning from my mom instead of my dad because she was more patient. I think maybe Andrew should try and drive with her if that’s allowed. She might be better with him

Agree ! My mom and i only had 1 and 1/2 practices due to her being impatient and roasting me . Which didn’t help because when I’d look at her I started laughing . Music kinda helped but not really so I stopped for a while . That was the beginning of last year now this year , I met my boyfriend and so he’s been helping me learn how to drive since I’ll be turning 19 in the summer 3 days before Karli haha August 2nd so it’s time for me to get my permit . I have driven his car a couple times now and with him it’s more relaxing because he knows how to be patient and answer my questions .

My parents do the yelling thing to me and I've had my driver's license for years and I find it distracting because now I'm having to look at them instead of actually paying attention to my driving so you really shouldn't yell at someone when they're driving it's just as nerve wrecking for a new driver

Ashley Bell yeah yelling at new drivers is a really bad way to teach them. They’re already nervous and don’t know exactly what they’re doing. They need an experienced driver who’s calm and can guide them. In my opinion if a parent is too nervous to drive with their teen and can’t keep it together then somebody else needs to drive with the kid instead. Being yelled at will only shake the kid up even more.

Zaphod Stone literally my mom would yell at me for literally going to slow but I’ve been driving for awhile now so she doesn’t because now I know to drive the speed limit 💀

don't shout when someone's learning to drive, tell them in a calm patient voice or you will cause stress and nerves for the learner and that is why I don't practice driving with my mom because I seen that was how she did it, "SLAM THE BREAK!" "SLOW DOWN!" not helpful

What was really helpful for me when learning to drive is my sister, who taught me, would have me verbalize what I was thinking so she knew what I was doing right beforehand. I would quietly say, “all clear, no one is coming,” before I turned onto the road, or “lane is clear, I’m changing lanes,” and “no ones behind me, backing out.” I would also ask her questions if I was unsure about something, having her confirm it before I did it. She would also gently remind me to always check my surroundings even when I was driving on a boring straight county road. Good luck on your driving practice! 💖

anyone else realise that americans learn to drive in an automatic. in the uk most learn to drive in a manual which is SO much harder. and we can’t learn til we are 17 (with learner plates on)

Most cars in the United States have automatic transmissions, so it is less and less of a common skill to be taught. Some do learn, though. I started with an automatic and drove it for a couple years until I got an old truck that has a manual transmission. It is a fun skill to have when most do not know how to drive one. I love putting my friends behind the wheel of my truck and seeing them try to drive it.

I guess we consider them outdated. All cars come automatic. Heck, some cars even drive themselves (Tesla). It's all about maximum easiness here. The only people i know who drive standard are "car guys (or girls)", or kids who got an old hand me down car from their parents.

I cannot relate with a manual transmission being faster because my truck is a 1989 Ram D100 with a V6 (not a V8), so it is as slow as can be, but I do like judging the shifting on my own. It would probably be even worse with the automatic. They are also easier to maintain. My other car is an old 1994 Chrysler LeBaron LX convertible with an automatic and I had to replace all the seals because the thing kept leaking transmission fluid. When the Ram starting leaking oil, I just popped the drive shaft out of it and replaced the rear seal. That was it. When I finally buy a new car, I am going to get one with a manual transmission.

I learned in a manual! I honestly love manuals more than automatics. Many cars here in the US aren't manual though. 😥 Newer cars atleast.

Karli needs to practice driving with her hands in the proper position. I know barely anyone does but for testing they do look at it. Don’t start the bad habits prior to ur test!

Honestly, I hated driving with my mom. I loved driving with my dad. He was just way more calm. In my opinion, I think you might’ve corrected her with the wrong tone or volume, because that wasn’t a reason to yell if you weren’t in danger since there wasn’t a car coming. If they don’t correct something in drivers ed then Karli probably feels like it’s okay. For example when my instructor drove with me he told me what I’ll do once I’m comfortable with driving and I can almost guarantee that half of the people in the comments, including myself, don’t stop sometimes in those situations if there isn’t a car coming because there’s really no reason to take that extra precaution when you’re completely safe. Maybe when correcting her be softer and just be normal about the conversation rather than yelling stop, because that will just stress Karli out and make her resent driving with you more than anything. Unless you’re in immediate danger just talk in a normal voice because yelling might make her make a bigger mistake than the little one she made there. Not hating, just giving advice to help your situation and help with the frustration behind driving.

Im learning to drive, and my parents are so chill! Like if I’ve done something wrong or made a mistake, my parents will calmly tell me what i need to do better next time. I know it can seem scary being in the car with a learner, but you gotta stay calm and not yell, if my parents yelled at all i would probably cry too...and be mad, and its not because i dont want to be corrected, its because its so stressful already! And having someone yell at you just makes it 10,000 times worse! So as hard as it is... be calm 😽😽

I’m currently driving around with my mom. ( I’m 16) and sometimes it can be stressful when you get yelled at when behind the wheel because you’re more aware of any minor mistakes that could happen. Other than that I’ll occasionally make mistakes like Karli and my mom will just tell me my mistake and I’ll try to fix it or not do it again next time round. But again that’s just my experience 🤷🏾‍♀️

I had my dad drive with me when I was learning over my mom cause she would just constantly tell me I’m wrong when I’m doing everything right. My dad just had more patience and knew how to correct me better over my mom. Karli should try with ken or Andrew and see how that goes

One of the rare times in my married life, when my wife was happy to allow me to be the sole instructor for our children's driving. Two sons one daughter, 1 time license. I think it's in you to teach, or don't even try. Very large car Parkes my best tool to teach, and my best advice. Karli will do just fine. Maybe one of her brothers could help out.🐕⚘🙏

Don’t stress about Karli making mistakes. I have a permit and every time I drive with my mom we always argue but you have to be patient she’s new at driving and the last thing she needs is to be stressed behind the wheel.

It’s so weird for me to see this because in Spain it’s illegal to drive if it’s not with a driving instructor in a special car that basically has a double set of pedals and mirrors in the other seat (for safety). Plus you can’t drive until you are 18

In most states you don’t need to take classes with a driving instructor. You can just drive with a parent or family member who has their license and is over the age of 21.

Here kids can get their permit after passing a written test, the age varies from state to state, the youngest age is 14 and some states it's 16. After you have to do is pass a few classes and wait a few months and most teens have their license within 6 months or so.

That is kind of true but I think it is normal for her age. I was the same I wanted so bad to drive a scooter at her age ( driving age for a car is 18 here) I tought it was so cool and would give me mofe frerdom. Im so glad my parents didnt let me because I would have probably crashed withing a second 😂 wasnt ready at all

I live in Germany and here you‘re only allowed to drive by yourself when you‘re 18. And the earliest you can start with driving school is when you’re 16 and a half 😅

I completely understand why you shouted. It's so scary being in the car with a new driver. I remember my mum shouting at me when I was learning to drive and I got upset because it scared me and it just caused more stress but if she didn't I may not of stopped the car in time. So it's a natural response to shout when you get scared. It was your mother instincts to shout to make sure you guys were ok. So I understand both of your sides and why Karli was upset. So don't worry Candi your a great mother and driver and I'm sure Karli will be so too.

Karli i know how exciting it can be to drive but after about 6 months and people always asking for rides it gets old fast lol. Atleast for me this is how it was... Candi i know its hard to not yell its like a natural instint.. And Its scary but try to be calm. I know easier said than done. Also CONGRATULATIONS Chase!

To be honest my mom initially tried to teach me to drive but she would freak out and say things like STOP in panic mode which caused me to panic and make mistakes. I didn’t argue with my mom but I didn’t want to go with her anymore driving. So ultimately my older brother who’s 7 years older than me took over and everything went smoothly and I learned more from him cause he didn’t freak out on me. I guess what I’m trying to say is I know my mom meant well but she needed to not freak out but I really don’t think she could handle it. I shared this cause this video reminded me of the times my mom would drive with me. I know it probably hard to stay calm especially when lives can be in danger but calmness for new drivers is everything needed at least it was for me.

I live over in Kalamazoo MI area and I think that you maybe let Andrew take over in some driving lessons with Karl. Older siblings tend to be more calm with you behind the wheel than parents at least in my case. Also driving in new places tends to help too because if you’re nervous/ unfamiliar you are less likely to be in comfortable routine of the way traffic works in that area. I would also say that with driving comes great responsibility but I think that some of that responsibility is learned while behind the wheel.

My mom taught me how to drive and it took me 2 1/2 years. My mom had me go everywhere we went had a lesson of it’s own if it was to the store, school, or whatever else. before I got my license and failed the first 4 times. I had to have instructed lessons. The fifth time I was on an open road course and with all the traffic and everything. It felt very comforting that I was around other cars and I didn’t feel rushed or scared. I felt calm but a bit nervous. This test was almost two years ago in May and I’ve been driving ever since. Oh and since I’m watching this video. I literally have the same exact vehicle as Carli, expect my doesn’t have all the fancy stuff. I love the Ford Edge. I really hope Ford keeps making the Edge.

Hey so u where talking about parents driving with there kid and ik I’m only 12 but my mom let’s be drive in a old parking lot sometimes so I can get better and learn while I’m young but my mom just talks me through how something as I’m doing it like I was close to a curve and she said calmly to watch out and so that helps me when she talks calmly

Where I live , we can there is driving with a someone of family registred like accompagnaty , but we still have to do lessons with the instructor and the special car (of the drive school) . Then you can drive alone at 18 and have your car at 18 with the permit but not before. After we have to put a disc for that the others driver see that we are in accompanied driving or , apprentice driver (and with put this disc on the back of the car) Here we learn to drive in a manual box speed .(sorry for my bad English) (no hate )

Driver's training only teaches kids the basics on segment 1 & get them use to being behind the wheel on those 4 drives they leave the rest up to the parents in those 30 hrs my son got a sheet every drive on how he did & what he needed to work on.

In Australia we start learning to drive at 16 but can't get a solo drivers license until we're 18. (in my state anyway)

Did the announcer mispronounce Chases last name? ... Congrats Karli, that day will come, but driving alone feels weird at first. At least it did for me. Get well soon Andrew, wishing you a complete recovery. Regarding backing out of a parking space safely, I notice a lot of people back in with their back-up camera to avoid people suddenly appearing directly behind you. Not just cars, people, bicyclists, etc. Happy safe driving Karli! I do not want to see a video called, 'Karli's first fender bender' anytime soon.

I wish I was driving now. I have a vision disease, and I’m also colorblind. my vision is 20/600, and I have to go to visually impaired driving school at age 18. I won’t be able to drive until 25.. :(

thinking about such a car for my wife, because she almost always uses heels (10 cm) so it must be able to run in heels (do not want to change shoes every time she should run), have you tried with heels ?, she has a Mercedes today, and it is easy to run in heels

Why on the start of the video Karli seem sad. She is not very well seat for drive and his seatbelt is not put very well for drive but the thing of strange is :when she is arrested on a parking she put well the seatbelt This is not very safety (not hate in my sentence)

I’m just writing because I’m having a really hard time because, I am a 16 year old and I work hard to do good in school and I can’t really get around because my parents work so they can’t afford a car for me. I guess what I’m asking is how do you deal with wanting something but not getting it because I think about it all the time and i just cry about it because that’s all I want for my birthday

Be glad that you get your license At 16, i live in Germany and here you can start driving lessons at 16 ½ till 17. At 17 you can drive with your Patents and 18 you are allowed to drive alone 🙄😑👌❤
