When we got our cherry shrimp for the first time ever the same dark coloring change happened. Not sure why, but we've had the shrimp for months now and that same one is still fine. We also killed a few fish with water changes, and then eventually learned that no water change at all is way better for the tank.
Thanks! I've been researching, and there can be many reasons why shrimp change their color. What caught my attention is that it happened overnight. At that moment I freaked out, but now I know it's completely normal.
Well the only ways you can kill fish during a water change are either not adding a tap water conditioner or you’re over cleaning the tank meaning there is too much ammonia, therefore killing the fish
