I agree with you re the German Short Rows, I found them very intimidating at first but I found a great tutorial by Wendy 8826 (here on RU-vid) which basically instructs you to place stitch markers in all the spots before you start knitting them (i.e. in the first row after the ribbing) and then you just knit from from one stitch mark to the next, remove it, turn the project, knit back to the next stitch marker and so on until you are done. This works SO MUCH BETTER than counting the stitches (as many patterns instruct you to do). I just started working on a new sweater and I had to rip out the German SR's only once (only 3 rows into them, so it was not too much work lost) and then on the second try I knocked them all out without any issues (that's my personal record). The only problem is if accidentally drop the 'double stitch', I have not figured out yet how to fix it and then I usually have to frog them and start all over. P.S. The word you were looking for, when talking about the boat neck, is FLATTERING (that's my guess, at least. English is my second language as well). Cheers from Canada.
I’m so glad you found a method that works for you with the German Short Rows! Stitch markers really can make a huge difference, and it’s great to hear you only had to rip out once. Your record is impressive! As for the double stitch, it can be tricky. If you drop it, you might try picking it back up with a crochet hook or a needle to rescue it instead of frogging. It takes some practice, but it can save you from starting over! And thanks for the tip on the boat neck-"flattering" is definitely the word! Your English is fantastic. Cheers from Denmark!
