I found my first hoard, and in true Metal Detective fashion, it's a strange one... It was great fun unearthing item after item, and trying to imagine why they were all buried together in one spot. If you have any theories, please let me know.

I, too, don't know of your loss. Yet, I give you my condolenses. If it was family, my dad passed away this past March. It hurts. Always enjoying your hunts and finds. I wish I had the time and energy to be out metal detecting. I have an ACE 400. It finds a lot of iron nails and aluminum junk.

What a great day! It's a crazy hobby. 😊 glad that you are coping with your loss. Sharing your feelings is the key. Didion wrote: “Grief turns out to be a place none of us know until we reach it." It is also somewhere we will all reach one day - how helpful it is when sufferers describe the place before we get there.

They used to plough old clothes into the land as a manure. They would rot down to feed the soil, leaving the hord of buttons your finding today 👌🤟 great digging, Congats on the florin 😀👌 nice finds 👌

@lifeofdave1237 yeah, I've found a few dotted around my farm permission, but never this many. And considering this was in a garden of an old manor house,I'm not sure that theory actually applies in this case. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thanks for watching! And glad you enjoyed the florin 💚💙

@@TheMetalDetective2023 ah I see 🤔 if it's an old manor house garden it's probably changed a lot over years, I would suspect they had a big old composting heap around there at some time and chucked the old uniforms in with that lot. Would explain the amount your finding in a small area. Either way great finds , keeping you busy 😂

Wow what a hoard you found. Only have one general service button to date which I found on my local beach, not quite as good condition but made me smile and I love it. Also had two George v florins off the beach. My dad is at an end and I find getting out with my detector is helping immensely. Lovely video, all subbed up 😊
