I was impressed by the skyline of Nigeria, but seeing the skylines of Ethiopia makes me amaze how beautiful it is. Hope that cities in my country will look beautiful like Lagos or Adis Ababa..

OPINION: Some of the street and road names in the city, Addis Ababa, need to be replaced by local and historical names of the country! There's no point where a country's street and road name is called after a foreign place. Why not Adama, Gondar, Mekele, Jima, Harar, Nekemte, Gore, Arba Minch, Sidama, Hadiya, Damot, Wolayita, Asossa, Bale, Gambella, Arsi, Gojam, to say the least. Totally replaced by local names! To be ourselves in the first place! Briefly, historical context and location reflections!

First, it should be acknowledged that the infamous Ethiopian leader is focusing on decorating the capital, Addis Ababa, when he should prioritize establishing security in the country. Currently, it is not safe enough to travel from the capital to neighboring towns. Citizens cannot afford to eat a meal a day, and the unemployment rate among the youth is alarmingly high. The country is plagued by war and ethnic conflict. Despite this, the infamous and ineffective government is more concerned with decorating the leader's palace, parks, and the capital city.

@@AgerYd-en1lm I have all the right to complain, I lost my relatives because of the so called prime minister of the country. And it’s not just me so did many others. In addition, look at the the ridiculous laws they’re coming up with everyday the politics has become a child’s play, the soaring corruption, the economy is literally at its worst, devaluing of our currency , increase in ethnic divisions and tensions and after creating all this all they do is plant trees, which is good but there are many priorities like transportation, education, hospitals and food security. Let’s not the citizens be ignorant just like the government is!

The new proposed law(bill) that everyone talking about is to fight corruption. Basically the bill says individuals have the responsibility to reveal the source of their income. You're complaining about corruption but simultaneously opposing new proposed laws. According to statista, it aligned with imf, Ethiopia's nominal gdp will be $205 billion at the end of 2024. The economy is growing at 6.2% which is much higher than the average world economic growth. There is no ethnic division in Afar, Somalia, Benishangul, Central Ethiopia, Southern Ethiopia, Harari, Sidama, Gambela. Ethiopia is more than Amhara, Oromia and Tigrai region. Peace and security has been continuously improving in Oromia and Tigrai for the past couple of years. In May 2024, specialized referal hospital was inaugurated in Bishoftu ,and just 3 days ago another hospital was opened in Arba minch. We need more hospitals and we should be part of the solution. If you are a diaspora don't send your money on the black market. The government can't or won't magically build hospitals, schools or other infrastructures. The government need foreign currency. Finally, about food insecurity. Planting trees directly and indirectly tackle food insecurity. First, some of the seedlings are edible plants such as bananas, apple, mango, avocado etc. Also, planting trees prevent soil erosion as well as regulating climate change.
