To me, Serpahism is supposed to be more fae-like rather than angel like. Hence, the "woody" motif. I think it makes perfect sense and I really love its design.
I get why a lot of folk aren't really about the look of Seraphism. Though it actually perfectly aligns with one of healer glams, so using it deffo feels like a Sailor Moon "Moon Cosmic" to "Moon Crisis" staged transformation. It's the happiest button for me to press now... though Baneful Impaction comes real close tbh 😂 Goofy side note: For some reason the male scholar shorts are still relatively short, but they're JUST long enough to make sure they won't show thigh when you wear the boots. Just let my catboy's thighs be free, CBU3, it's FINE.
To this day, I have yet to see another cat girl wear SCH's artifact gear better than you. It just sucks you won't be able to see it half the time cus you're going to be stuck in seraphism mode cus that button is OP. Who needs regen healers in EX Trials when you can have a literal descent of an angel come cleanse the sins of your party members who can't seem to understand what the giant circle on the ground means..........and the WHMs who decided to become glare IV mages instead of actually pressing any heals.
A part of me kinda wishes that the Seraphism would strap the book to your back and wings would come out of the pages of the book. With the wings being more cloth like to match the academic style. Hell, make the wings out of pages, that'd be cool!
I hate the wings, both the way it looks and the fact that SCH has wings at all. It feels so unfitting but it seems like square wont be happy until every job has wings. The lack of creativity in job design is starting to get really depressing.
I was realllyyy hoping the wings meant you can change them with the wing accessories 😭. Or at least, customize the robe. It doesn’t make much sense with the class at all. Like, you look at reaper and it’s like yeah, makes sense! You turn into a reaper. You look at a scholar and the closest transformation to them would be…. A book? 💀 maybe some librarian? I’m not sure, but an angel just because of seraph? It makes sense from that one perspective. But as a whole? Not really. Edit: incase the reader is unfamiliar with scholar: they’re tactical shield healers and the class is a master at weaving skills (creating bigger shields, turning big shields into big heals, auto crit on enemies every 2 mins). They also summon a fairy that acts as a permanent regen overtime and has some ogcd party skills. Seraph was kind of introduced as an outlier and doesn’t make as much impact to the class design and she only lasts for a short period. And seraphism is just an extension of it. TLDR; the class doesn’t know what it wants to be atm lol
you forgot to mention about the lower cooldown on recitation. You can not only swiftcast addlo every pre pull, but also now you can recitation > protraction > excog too, for a heal that would make whm envy, every single pre pull. Like, the dungeon just started, press swiftcast, as the first enemy appears you can addlo the tank, press aetherpact to get your stacks, and when the tank is about to stop, you protraction > recitation > excog > sacred soil.
I love scholar. One thing that I have been awaiting for a while is ... 1.) Faerie Cosmetic Options, the two we have are just not doing it for me anymore. 2.) A redesign of the lore or aesthetic I just feel like it would be amazing if it was more Fae oriented. The newer abilities are definitely pulling to that direction. Now if they just redesigned some of the older spells like Broil, Mias, and stuff like that it would be way more immersive. 3.) Physick totally is never used. I've always wanted it to be updated at higher level with a rank 2 making it a regen or something with a initial heal. Cause after adlo and succor its just gone into the void. 4.) Serpanhism, I definitely wished it was more fae like as well. The robe and the wings definitely need a recolor / redesign. It looks so fallen angel, edgy white magey.
I too am not a fan of the aesthetics of Seraphism. we already have white mage as the 'holy' theme healer, a big part of what drew me to scholar was the tactician and faerie themes.
HATE how seraphism looks, its completely out of place imo. I have a bigger issue with any skill that changes how your character looks tho tbh. I also don't like reaper's transformation. It would be great if they let you toggle if transformation abilities do anything to yo or not, like how you can change the size of summoner pets.
I have definitely have noticed the antenna issue you have. I first saw it on an Elezen with a similar haircut to your WOL's but even when trying it on my own WOL it was there and even on some of my friend's as well. Although I think only one friend said they couldn't see it and they were a lala so it may be race dependent. Great video and it was super fun to watch and see your perspective and it was super in depth as well!!
I absolutely LOVE scholar in Dawntrail. Enjoying every second of it honestly (thanks to you and your awesome tips! I taught my fc members your THICC shield combo and now they call it the Mother of Shields 😂). Expert dungeons were a breeze with SCH. This is absolutely amazing) Seraphism works for me as the extra measure when I need to heal people fast. But yeah, I would love to have nice fae wings instead of angel ones. Or at least have it in white like Seraph herself does ^^ P. S. Ahh, Hyun-chan looks gorgeous in SCH AF gear, just like I thought!! Knew it since my first drawing of her😊 P. P. S. My question is this: Is Seraphism overpowered? It looks like it could be - the only downside is that you need to watch your MP bar, as scholars have crap MP regeneration - and I would rather be underpowered, personally. I secondary as Warrior, and it seems like that job is still ridiculously broken... I'd hate it if my primary also breaks.
I don't get why Baneful Impaction won't spread the Chain Stratagem debuff, too. The trash pull dies a little faster, but more importantly, it feels good to use in aoe not just for the followup dot ogcd. Too much to ask when SGE has an aoe dot option? I guess SE just hates Bane that much, huh?
Honestly scholar has the same syndrome that white mage suffers from. They both are very clunky compared to Sage or Astrologian. not to mention only Sage got the ability to apply it's DoT to an AoE.
How can you say the aesthetics of the class is perfect? The technological part of some skills while the fairy part and every other thing clashes so hard making it easily the worst aesthetic in the game....
crazy take, scholar was always a combination of tactics and fae magic, it works wonderfully because the sort of woodland vibe carries into its color scheme
