What a perfect way to commemorate the anniversary of Chester’s passing seven years ago today. A way to remember how much we loved them from the beginning.
@@DantesWRLDand it was Chris Cornell’s birthday. Chester and Chris were good friends and it’s thought Chris’ suicide three months earlier is what led to Chester’s suicide.
Btw cure for the itch is just a instrumental all done by Mr Hahn, the bands dj. Btw what's the answer for a cure for the itch? a scratch, like scratching turntables.
Not sure this is completely true, different lists have it either tied with or just behind Guns n Rose's debut and the Backstreet Boys, depending on the time frame counted vs total sales... but yeah, it's up there.
This was the first album I ever bought with my own money, I was 9 years old in 2000 and will be 33 in a few months so pretty similar lol, when I saw the "in the end" music video on tv I was hooked! It was the coolest sound I had ever heard. Forever my favorite band!
This album hits so hard. Me and 3 friends in high school right after 9/11 me and my boys joined the marines. We all suffered. We had one not come home and one end his life early. I almost drank myself to death but I'm here. I changed my life around but I never forget my friends and i give them all the spotlight. I remember us crusing through the streets listening to this album.
There's something many Linkin park fans don't realize about this album. The only one of the band that was unfamiliar with these songs when they came out was Chester. You see, this album is technically a self titled album. The first group, white these songs as a garage band, the name was xero. The only 2 band members who stayed, Mike shinoda and Mr Han got now band members to fill. Which is everyone from Linkin Park except Chester. They remixed the songs under their new name, hybrid theory. When they got signed their singer dropped out, leaving room for Chester, who just dropped his former band , Grey daze, got introduced to them, and remixed the songs again, with the help of the studio, and came out with hybrid theory. So hybrid theory is the third generation of these songs for Mike and Mr Han. And second generation for the rest of the band to everyone else but chester.
I was cheesing the entire time watching this!! Love how u really listen to music and love watching you rock out 🤟🏾🤟🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥. Linkin Park is the first rock band i ever heard. They introduced me to the rock genre. And im forever grateful cause i love me some rock music. They will always be my #1 rock band ❤
I now finished watching your reaction, and I just want to say thank you again. It's such a gift for fans, to see others discover this music for the first time ❤ And there is something special about seeing people experience an album, not just a few hits. I was especially happy to see you reacting to the bonus tracks as well. "High Voltage" is such fun song, particularly live, and "My December" is such a smooth, peaceful song. Listening to "My December" while lying down with your eyes closed is a heavenly experience. It's basically impossible to pick a single favourite from this album, but it would probably have to be either Papercut or Crawling. Thank you so much again, I hope to see you react to "Meteora" ❤
New sub here. I was surprised to see ‘My December’ played in this video. Even to this day, whenever I hear this song, tears still flow down my eyes. Even as a 34 year old. Losing Chester and my best friend in the holiday season back in 2019, both to suicide. Keep up with the grind. You’re reactions are hilarious. Much love, God bless.
Seeing more people slowly getting into Linkin Park is AMAZING. I'm so happy knowing that their music, to this day, keeps on getting more and more respect from different people. Nu metal really hits hard, istg.
watching the pure joy you have brings back the joy of my time first listening! much like everyone else in the comments i was probably 10-12 when this album came out and theyre still a daily listen for me! great video and reactions
Man, I love your reaction to this album. I remember buying this album on release date as a 14 y/o kid. And now I’m 36 y/o and this album still pumps me up. One of the album and bands that lead me to metal music
Yo this video deserve more likes, the Fact that you upload this video at the same date when Chester passed away just makes it more special. Thanks for reacting man, always love your contents and really appreciate it. Btw, yess Chester was singing and rapping in High Voltage song tho
I was reminded what a great album that was with this reaction, ty... my ears instantly fell in love with their sound when they released this in my angsty teen years. All that expressive energy can be so easy to lose yourself to when you're going through a lot or tired of life's demands.
As someone that has been a LP fan for damn near 20 years now, and that has watched a LOT of reactions - this album reaction was damn near 10/10. Literally the only criticism was to include those tracks that you already heard, like Crawling or In The End. Including the bonus tracks was fucking clutch. Good shit man, keep it up.
Remember people hating on this at my school, because it was "Metal". Same people announcing how awesome LP is years later. So many memories from this album
Cure for the Itch is an interlude, a place to show off either your band members talents that usually go somewhat unnoticed (DJ, Drummers etc) or tracks that you liked but couldn't work into a track. Very common feature around that time.
"One Step Closer" was the first song I heard from them. I caught it on MTV by chance, you know, when MTV actually played music videos back in the day. I was born in the 80's so I was into rock but I was never really introduced to heavier stuff. "Linkin Park" was the gateway to metal for me.
This album is very nostalgic for me. I remember I was 12 years old when I first heard it and it is still very memorable to this day. They used to play points of authority on Toonami on Cartoon Network in the UK when I was younger and I never knew where the song came from until I got the album
Bruh!!!! I was 12-13 when this album came out! I am 36 now and this is still one of my favorite albums of my time! Chester can't be replaced! I'm so glad to see you enjoy this!!!!
I love seeing people's reaction to hearing this for the first time, especially since I heard it back in 1999 when I was 16! I love every song! Most of the music I grew up listening to I pretty much grew out of it, but not Linkin Park!!
Great video!!! This was the best selling debut album ever! Hybrid Theory and their second studio album Meteora are in the top 100 albums of all time. Personally, I think that Meteora is better than Hybrid Theory, but they are both legendary and there is not a bad song on either album!!
I hope you do a full album reaction to Minutes To Midnight too! If you like My December, you'll LOVE Minutes To Midnight, a lot of it is chill like that.
THE best complete album of the last 30 years. 💯 You do NOT skip tracks on 'Hybrid Theory'. 💯😎 And the first verse of "Place For My Head" MAY be the greatest 36 bars ever recorded. 💯
This was their first album, but if you want to know more about where they come from, there are a lot of demos from before this. You could react to the 4-track demo tape from when they were called Xero, before Chester joined, and the 6-track EP they made after Chester joined and they changed their name to Hybrid Theory.
seeing you experience this MASTERPIECE of an album brings back soooo many memories.. believe me when i say that we ALL reacted like this.. it was unheard of.. nothing will top the feeling of listening to this album for the first time.
I’m 14 minutes in and smiling so damn much. I’m getting to relive discovering this music over 20 years later through you enjoying it so much. P.S: you didn’t play the official CGI war animation video clip for Pts of Authority. I remember seeing it as a 10 year old on MTV and being mind blown
Papercut, By Myself, Forgotten, Cure for the Itch, and My December are my favorites from this album. With how dynamic this album was, I knew they were going to continue giving us bangers for years to come. I just didn't expect them to completely change my life the way they did. A Thousand Suns is my favorite album and I still cry every time I listen to it. They expressed the human condition with their music. Every emotion, every hardship, hope... all of it. Great reaction. This was fun to experience with you.
@@alexbridges9751 My December was not on the original release but it was on special editions of the album. They wrote it on tour for Hybrid Theory and put it on subsequent releases IIRC. Forgotten is for sure on there. Track 10.
This was the first full album reaction I’ve watched! So 🔥. I haven’t listened to this album all the way thru in so long! And when this album dropped we had the same reaction as you! lol dude A Place for My Head tho! 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
This came out when I was in like 7th-8th grade and is one of the few things that I’ve enjoyed at every phase of my life. Makes me think of 3 disc cd changers, PlayStation 1, the first GTA, and Stuart Scott during the GOAT era of sportscenter
Linkin Park is a once in a generation rock group.. not many bands in the history of rock & roll have sold over 100million records.. plus Chester is one of the best singers in the history of music, no matter the genre. He’s that good live!
To this day Chester is the only scream vocalist I really like listening to. I hate scream vocals from every other singer, but for reasons I have never been able to understand, I love how his scream vocals sound. RIP Chester you are forever one of a kind ❤
Great reaction as always man! Make sure you react to "Reanimation" next. Its a remix of this album with a ton of extra stuff-it will be super cool to compare/contrast your thoughts on this album compared to it.
Hell yeah. My junior year was awesome, this was released around Halloween and I just got paid by Pizza Hut and this CD was $7.99 at Target because they were a new band that just came out. It’s thanks to this album that I got to see my first tittays. Thanks LP, you’re the gift that keeps on giving.
I remember back in my yester years, downloading the album, burning it to cd and throwing it in my cd player in the car. Driving wherever and firing it up for the first time. It was quite an experience, lol. Nothing like it at that time.
Oh my heart when you knew all of In The End. 💜☮️🤘 yes its music I have loved, maybe just a bit longer than you. 😉 The best music and performers linger in the soul. LP🙌🔥💜 Chester yeah he did that , for as long as he could. 🖤🙌
Bro I love your energy, great upload. This dropped when I was 15, was very underestimated at the time. U gotta check out the reanimation album next - basically redid tracks with executioners. Fly af
They were so good back in the day when I was listening to them as a pre-teen but when they came back from a break they dropped off for me but I still look back fondly.
Wish I could go back to my teenage years and re experience this all over again for the first time while album start to finish without stopping. Usually albums I tend to switch to my favourite tracks but certain albums like this you can leave on and not care
Cure for the Itch was the only song done by the dj of Linkin Park Joe Hahn aka Chairman Hahn/Mr Hahn. On Meteora, the song Session is also only Mr. Hahn on the track
I remember sitting on my front steps with this in my yellow Walkman in 2000 and just being blown away. I don't think I opened my eyes once during the whole album. I was just vibing.
What great timing for this reaction ❤ I don't have time to watch the entire video right now, but I'll come back to finish watching it later. I will say that yes, it was genuinely amazing how Linkin Park exploded into fame with this debut album. I believe "Hybrid Theory" ties with Guns N' Roses' "Apetite for Destruction" for best selling debut album of all time. They struggled for a long time to even get signed, and when they did, the label tried again and again to change them. They even tried to get Chester to do a "coup" of sorts, pushing Mike from his leading role. Chester told them to go fuck themselves 🤟 The band told the label that they would make their album their way, and if the label didn't like it, they could drop them, but the band wasn't going to change for them. Then they dropped a best selling debut album of all time, fucking legends ❤ Of course, magazines started printing rumours about the band being "manufactured" by the label, that people were ghostwriting for them, that they were essentially this "made up boyband"; so Linkin Park started documenting their process of making an album, releasing behind the scenes videos to disprove some of those rumours. Following the massive success of "Hybrid Theory", the band stuck to the sound that shot them to stardom for their next album, "Meteora". If you enjoy this album, you will for sure enjoy the next one. After "Meteora", the band was determined to not get stuck in a box, doomed to make a "Hybrid Theory vol. X" for all their career, but they were also intimidated by the change. They went on a brief hiatus, worked with famous producer Rick Rubin on their entire process of making music, went out of their comfort zone in so many ways. They made their album "Minutes To Midnight", which contains one of their heaviest songs "Given Up", as well as many of their softest songs. Despite taking this massive risk in order to stay creatively true to themselves by deviating from their successful formula, the band was branded as "sellouts" for changing their sound. It's almost like whatever the band did, they'd be accused of the opposite. I'd reccommend listening to their albums as long you're still enjoying them. While I love their first two albums, and really appreciate their daring on the third album, it's their fouth album that I find to be their best work. All this to say, if you're having a good time listening to Linkin Park, there is a lot to look forward to ❤ Thank you for reacting to this entire album, I'm really looking forward to finishing this video later ❤
Top 5 Nu-Metal album ever. Shit, one of the GOAT albums in general. I still bump every song to this day and I've been a fan since their first music video.
When i first heard Cure for the Itch in 2003 when i was 9 i was instantly hooked on turntables in rap and metal. You should react to The X-Ecutioners they did a song with Mr Hahn and Mike from Linkin Park called It's Going Down which is often mistaken for a Linkin Park song but it isn't it's part of the album Built from Scratch by The X-Ecutioners
Dude, you should check out the b-sides that are on the 20th anniversary edition of Hybrid Theory. They're all on the official Linkin Park youtube channel - it's basically an entire album's worth of cut content from the era of the first album. She Couldn't Blue Carousel Technique (Short) Step Up And One High Voltage Part of Me Dedicated So Far Away ^ those are the ones I remember/recommend
Check out their 1999 hybrid theory EP. 6 kick ass songs that didn’t end up on the album. It’s got the original version of high voltage and it’s super r&b
If you get the chance to watch the video of Mike performing In the End at Reading and Leads in 2018. You should watch it but I wouldn't make a video of it because you will most likely be crying from it. Mike had the fans sing Chester's parts just like they did when Chester was still alive. It is a very emotional performance and most of the audience was crying while also singing In the End with Mike. Ine other very emotional performance is when the fans sang Numb during the tribute concert for Chester in October 2017.
I know you are doing meteora next plzdo reanimation too. It's definitely a must also. They took all the best rappers ever and remixed all the songs from the first 2 albums. It's beyond insane. RIP Chester Bennington 😢
This was my first rock album back in the late 90s, early 2000s. I was in high school and heard about them because the artist and album was influenced by Anime. This was before Anime was popular. I was one of the few people in HS that watched Anime out side of DBZ. I was also probably the only person in my HS that was listening to Jpop. I was hood but I had unique interest compared to my boyz. Its crazy how everything I was into is now popular now smh.
In modernity, you have a few more Rap Rock options. It is sort of making a comeback in different forms. And then you have like R&B x Metalcore mixes like with Issues from time to time as well. There's just so much MORE music being prodced nowadays it is hard to keep up. So in retrospect, I'm glad LP rose to the mainstream in a much more competative space. (to be chosen and pushed by a label i mean)
