You guys should check out MilSim West as well. Great group of dudes run it. AOs they run are insane. Ammo limit, you’re in the field for I believe 72 hours, blank fires etc. Dudes that run it are former Mil/LEO.

With the price of ammo, we are all going to start getting into airsoft/milsim soon haha. But real talk, milsim is the cheapest way to actually practice force on force training.

Welcome to airsoft, brother. I got into it a few years ago to keep myself sharp, test and refine skills and kit, and immerse myself into a community of, generally, like-minded individuals. On any given weekend I can find myself taking corners in a CQB killhouse environment or pinned down in a wooden bunker next to a 10 yr old kid showing him how to create angles to return fire. As a result, my reaction time has improved, my cardio is on par with individuals a decade my junior (as with most combat vets, I'm partially broke), and I have identified and improved on critical failures with my kit. Airsoft is an excellent training tool which I highly recommend to all, but specifically to veterans who want to be among family again. My moment was in Texas, during an all day event, lying on the ground during the lunch break, and watching and listening to everyone just smoke and joke like I was back in the field on Lejeune. Glad to see more "real steel" types come around to acknowledging the advantages of this hobby/training. ERRR!! Edit: It was cool seeing Travis Haley out there, too. Finally got a chance to talk with him, after so many years, and confirm that we were in the same firefight together in Najaf (I was in Small Craft Co., we were running riverine ops out of Iskandyriah). Copperhead was a lot of fun and I hope to do it again next year. Inshallah.

I think these serious milsim events are an amazing concept . Milsim West organizers all being US Special Operations veterans have done it right , making th 40 hour events and taking gear and supplies seriously with zero tolerance for BS has weeded out airsoft kids , douche bags etc and quickly turning into events that are drawing our combat veterans allowing my them to enjoy themselves, use the skills they’ve learned in a safe environment. A Psychologist reacted to this event & stated that some of his PTSD combat veterans have gotten into it after he told them he believed that it could actually help PTSD by reassociating combat to a more light hearted , casualty free environment that is quickly growing a large combat veteran group of players . They can experince the brotherhood, play among other veterans that know what each other’s been through and able to play the game with most being very experienced and able to use tactics taught. He said every patient he’s refered thst actually tried it has seen significant progress . The rewiring of “combat” by fooling the brain duplicating combat but in a fun environment starts to associate combat with milsim replacing some of the trauma. Veterans avoided airsoft becasue of the unprofessional and sometimes cringy reputation it had but some Spec Ops Vets smartly took a leap to start a new form of airsoft , something thst would entice vets to come play and with weapons manufacturers creating exact to scale duplicates of the weapons used in combat but now airsoft, more expensive but it also means better range and accuracy. Now word is getting out that more and more veterans are getting involved, teams being assembled for events that contain ALL combat vets is changing the sport. Some Special Operations Veteran you tubers have also got involved raising a flag to veterans that this Milsim is different and they’ve said that milsim CAN translate to continued training if you want it to, keeping you in shape, keeping tactics and knowledge of what they use in combat keeps the skills fresh for even retired vets. It’s honestly genius and I’m grateful our veterans are getting into it especially we’re it’s enjoyable and connecting them to other veterans in this community. Awesome.

I've never played such a larp heavy airsoft match like this but hot damn this looks fun.

I liked where everyone next to you got shot, and you were probably thinking, "wait am I really not getting hit? Is this kosher? Did I miss it?"

As a long time airsofter and fan of the channel its so lovely watching gun people (including my favorite gun person) playing around with the sport and understanding that most of us are just goofs looking to have some fun and play dress up and that there is a weird by-product that can sometimes a little bit apply to real life practices

As a Marine who likes MilSim, I find I enjoy the comradery it provides as well as a break from the monotony of my civilian life. It is what you make of it. You get out what you put into it. I’ve shot competition for a long time and the Airsoft allows for kinetic action you can’t get with real steel as a civilian. It’s fun as hell. Try Third Coast Airsoft events

Awesome video and this shows very clearly how easy it is to get confused with grenades indoors without proper communication. Friendly fire and room clearing with force on force contact. And it’s fun and nice to stay in shape or train for these events. And nice 40mm shot 👍

A lot of folks, ignorant folks specifically, are quick to hate on airsoft and the whole larping thing, but I would urge those people to take a step back and look at what's actually going on. You've got a huge group of young people who instead of sitting on social media wallowing in self-pity, normalizing mental illness, and criticizing our country, are out embracing gun culture, learning military tactics, working in small teams, creating solutions to asymmetric problems, getting exercise. These are all things that we REALLY REALLY need the young people of our country to be passionate about. These kids need support and positive encouragement, not comments shitting on their hobby from some internet chonker who gets beat by his ex-wife.

It's crazy to see everyone in full kit! Some big money there guys are spending. It looks insanely fun especially when completely organized. Good cardio for sure. In terms of the rigs, real rigs with the full weight, or clones with foam plates? With vets pulling out of the wars, this will be great to stay sharp with friends and family.

How loud are those frags inside? looks like some dudes were wishing for earpro

potato cannons firing some nerf footballs or something as faux mortars would be badass for these sorts of events. Have a designated kill radius so that when nerds stack on building in the open like this, they're all "dead dead".

As a guy that has been around/involved with airsoft for several years now let me give my 2 cents. First, understand that doing airsoft for training is about getting better PT, fine tuning your gear, understanding small unit tactics better, drilling CQB with your team, learning proper and effective use of NOD's against other people (who also have NODS), and building solid team cohesion. If you're going into airsoft thinking you'll get great weapons manipulation training then stop right now, you wont. About the only weapons manipulation stuff that crosses over is muzzle awareness, effectively manipulating your safety, reaction time in CQB, and ammo management, thats about it. Second is be picky about who you go to for events. Theres a lot of people who organize "Milsim" games, and frankly are more lost than Captain Sobel in BOB. They have ZEROOO idea what they are doing and are there for the money, not the players. There's lots of snakes in this game so watch out. American Milsim and Milsim west are pretty much the best two options. As for Third Coast Airsoft, if you want to go to an event and get yelled at, pissed on, belittled and in general make you feel like POS and pay the staff to do it, Third Coast Airsoft is a great choice for that. American Milsim is fine for general CQB/Small unit tactics if you want that. Milsim West is awesome for learning how to ruck/camp/sustain your team properly and you'll be out there for several days doing this, it's not sexy but its realistic. But be aware there is a LOT of larping at these events, they are primarily setup as wargaming or war simulation events so don't be surprised if you see goofy people doing goofy things, you have been warned. Last and most importantly, go to these events with your own goals and missions as a team. All these events start and go into it as a weird larpy kind of game with a backstory and all kind of silly stuff, ignore all of that. Have a goal as a team going in, (better communications, tighten up your CQB game, get better at night time fighting etc.) and go do that. Depend on you're teammates first and unknowns second, not all of them can be trusted. You'll have someone hold rear security for literally 60 seconds, get bored and run off leaving everyone exposed (yes that has literally happened MANY times to us.) Remember that you are there with your guys and trying to get your own benefits out of the event. Hope this helps, I hope in the future more and more gun guys like Mojo and Haley get involved with the airsoft community. It needs new blood very very badly and theres plenty that both communities can benefit from each other, once we put our egos aside.

I'm a vet also and I said the same thing when the game started, "Why are they running?" 🤣 I encountered a couple of cheaters who weren't calling their hits. Because of that I haven't played since. If I play again I'd do so with people I know.

Did you buy an airsoft rifle for the event or just borrow one? If the former, how did you decide on what to get? I'm very familiar with the Mk18 and URGI platforms, and I want to get an airsoft gun that is most similar in terms of function, parts compatibility, and weight - just to stay consistent. There's so many different manufacturers out there I don't even know where to begin. Thanks!

As a fellow LE, I’ve been getting back into Airsoft and I’m trying to build a rifle setup similar to what I run with the department so I can keep my muscle memory the same between gameplay and real steel. Externally, I know what I want to put together, but I was curious as to what base model gun you’re running in this footage and how it performed for you? There is nothing like force on force training. Sims is so much better, but airsoft is so much cheaper. Brings back memories of when I first started out as a LEO in ‘95. I started going out with out Tactical Operations Unit, playing bad guy. One of our training sessions was with .38 revolver SIMS, borrowed from I believe DEA. It was so much fun, but was eye opening to everyone and a great learning experience.
