I've always wanted to try motorcycle camping. I've been collecting camping gear for years but kept this item on the bucket list. My lack of camping experience discouraged me from making the time to go. But a couple of weeks ago, I turned my "One Day" into "Day One" and ventured out.
Here, I share what I did and what I learned about camping in a three-part series:
Part 1: I cover the packing capabilities of my Goldwing Non-Tour, the gear I needed to take, and how I got it on the bike.
Part 2: I showed the setup at the campground, shared a beautiful ride on the Linn Cove Viaduct, and shared the peaceful moments ending the day at the campground.
Part 3: I shared what I learned about my camp gear, gave a 2-minute clip of a ride on the twisty NC Hwy 221, shared 6 minutes of some beautiful views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, gave an awful camp cooking lesson, and fought off a bee on the ride home in the NC Hwy 80 twisties ... lol
More info about the camp:
Plumtree Campground and Retreat, located in Newland, NC. It's a nice place to camp and one of the few sites in the NC mountains that allows motorcycles. The facilities are clean and the people are great. The parking lot has hilly gravel in places, so beware of that up front.
