Hi Ivette, I’m so nervous and excited about starting nursing school. We start in Jan. 2020. I know god didn’t bring me this far to leave me, I’m gonna study very hard, I’m dedicated to this, I know you have to stay focused, I’m hoping on my most stressful days, I can find videos such as yours to pull me through, you got great grades, I plan on getting Good grades in school, so that means studying hard. I will look for your videos, keep them coming. ( Happy Holidays)
Omg! My patho class was the hardest nursing pre-req that our school offered. We had 200 questions per test and we had to memorize essays word for word! Like full on paragraphs and we had to write them out word for word. It was awful but I pulled an A!
Hey Im just about to finish my first semester and yea it's totally possible. My program is set up so I don't really have a choice but to take full course loads. It can feel like a lot but if you really keep up to date with your stuff it's definitely possible. Best of luck!
@@purnaization Awesome, I appreciate that! Yeah, I'm under my dad's health insurance and I need to hit 12 or above credit hours per semester which is CEREBRAL PAIN. I'm applying to 3 nursing programs in the spring so hopefully I get accepted into one of them.
I’m starting my first semester this coming fall. my question is, the classes that you took for 1st semester, did you pick that yourself or school did? tnx
Starting my first semester Monday!! Suuuuper scared, but you're really encouraging and I'm really hoping I do ok >.< great video, you seem really real about everything! Keep up the good work 💖
I am also starting my second semester of nursing school next week 😞😞😞 you should make a video on time management/ study habits. Best luck to you doll 😘
Kay Gee good luck!!! 😀 the break went by tooooo quick! I will make sure to definitely make that video after uploading my clinical experience 😀 thanks for your suggestion!!!
study habits are key!!!! this past semester I learned how to effectively study with less time. I made some videos explaining how to study effectively for nursing school, feel free to check them out !
Could you possibly post a video about how you studied for pharmacology and techniques that your professor taught you? I am in pharm right now online and I can't get a full grasp on good study techniques and we need to get a 75 test average in order to pass the class. I am so worried :(
Sure thing sister! I will get that video done very soon :) for now (just so you won't wait for me) I can tell you that a study chart saved my life! Pharm was my hardest class and with that chart, I saw drastic improvement! List out the drug name, class, where it is metabolized, the side effects, contraindications, etc. I will show an example in the video but this is so you can kind of get an idea :)
Nice video! Subscribed 😄👍 I start nursing program on Feb. 6th...fundamentals, pharm, clinicals(med surge), skills lab, and theory...excited and nervous! For your first semester, how much you would you say you studied outside of classes and clinicals? I know everyone is different..I've heard 2-3 hours a day I've heart 6+ hrs a day..lol so I'm like uhh I guess I'll just have to see...hoping I can get in the gym 3-4 times a week, meal prepping food for the week, etc...I'm not going to be workin for the 2 year duration of the program so that's a major plus! Anyways thanks for the video and look forward to more on your channel 😄👍🙏
Thank you so much! I wish you the best of luck!! I personally studied every single day!! Whatever we covered in class, I'd try my best to study that material that same day but my main priority was getting assignments out of the way that were due of course :) So i studied a good 4-5 hours Monday thru Thursday and all day friday and sunday (saturdays i went super light unless there was an exam that monday). You can definitely do it as long as you time manage :) I was definitely able to do all that with the help of my planner! Hope this helped :D
Now that I think about it, no actually lol no one has ever said anything close to that. it's usually the opposite, like "omg that's so stressful/hard" etc. hahaha
Ivette Aldana I recently told people I was pursing nursing and they were saying "oh you're taking the easy way out" "it's a fast process" "everyone who doesn't know what to do with there lives pursues nursing" I was like ummm... saving others as well as helping them isn't anything ? I don't get it 🙄 thank you for your video btw it's giving me a lot more information about it 😊
WHAAATTT!!! Giiiiiiiirrrrrlllllllll I would've roasted so bad hahaha yea nursing is something to be proud of and it's definitely NOT easy! You picked an awesome career ;) saving someone, helping them recover, and being of good support is the best feeling in the world!! Aww thanks girl
Jessica R I've heard that before. Usually by dumb and immature high school students or college freshman who have no experience in the real world and probably have never done anything difficult themselves. Also most people aren't educated about the differences between CNA, LVN, and RN. Don't take it seriously, people who say those things don't know what they're talking about. Nursing is a great career and the schooling and job is very difficult. I know because I am an RN BSN nursing student myself.
I want to be a nurse and my question is if you can go to nursing school after finish high school , or do you have to go to college ? Or which one is better ?
I think that is totally up to you! I believe there are two routes you can take for nursing (BSN or Associates) and from what I know, it is all just personal preference and how your schedule is :) However (don't quote me on this) I believe you have to take prerequisites for both and that varies between each school. I hope i answered your question! If not, feel free to message me :)
I took patho health assessment fundamentals and a concepts class for my first semester, I can't imagine taking pharm and patho at the same time! Yikes!
I feel that nursing is a profession that people have a "calling" to do. It is very hard yet so rewarding and I have a genuine feel for helping others especially when they are going through one of the, if not the most, hardest times of their life! I love seeing others smile and build bonds with people in hopes to make them feel even a little better! There's a lot more to it but that's the whole summary for me! Hope this helps :)
I just subscribed to your channel! I am starting my first semester of nursing school in two weeks and your video was super helpful! Look forward to seeing more videos from you!
Girllll! I feel you lol i'm in clinical while in my first semester and i'm like "uh hi i can't do anything but shadow you and change bed sheets" hahaha :)
That is actually a really good question! lol ummmm I think in general I wish i had more guidance and more of an idea over how nursing school was going to be. #BusyBusy I'll have to think about specifics and I'll get back to you on that! lol
Oh but i also wish I knew how to study for the FIRST exams...It's always a test trial with them since you don't know what to expect and for two classes (the one's i got 89's in) that's what happened to me LOL I got an 82 and 85 the for pharm and concepts and that made a difference between an A and a B!
Heyy girl! I really enjoyed hearing your experiences , I'm waiting to be accepted into a nursing program ,can't wait to follow you on the rest of your journey xo
I have to make a 79 in order to pass any class 😭 a 79 is our lowest C. ... and health assessment was so much easier than pathopharm (it's one class at my school they combined patho and pharm). I actually FAILED pathopharm I made a 78. I'm retaking it this semester and I made A's and B's in everything else... This semester pathopharm is my LIFE. I was planning a wedding last semester (I got married in January) so I'm sure if my focus was on pathopharm more (especially during Thanksgiving break) instead of the wedding I could have pulled it off. My returns/demonstrations where my favorite part. The time constraint was scary but I blew all of them out of the water. You are doing great girl! It's gonna feel so worth it when we have that diploma in our hands!
Yea, i honestly think it just depends on the school! Aww thank you so much! Congrats on your wedding! Sometimes, life just happens and it's great to see that you're determined to get back on it!
