A pristine GW690 MkI landed at mine from Japan a few days ago. Although it looks to be virtually 'as new' it'll get a CLA from my repair guy, here in England. Always a good idea in order to ensure everything's tip top, as it'll max out reliability and longevity going forwards. Wish you well with it!
Love the print Keith! I'm planning on making a video with my GW690 soon too. It's unfortunately about the shots you lost though. I think mine might have some issues with the long exposure "T" setting, but the other speeds seem to be ok. Looking forward to seeing more of your work with this camera
I'll look forward to seeing what you get with yours! I'll be monitoring the shutter situation on mine going forward -- and hoping there aren't many black frames.
Nice pics. Just to let you know, today I took my Fujica GW 690, the precurser to the Fuji, in to the camera shop for repairs because the shutter progressively got worse and worse. Same sypmtoms as yours seems to exhibit. I hope yours doesn't have that problem.
Yeah I was kinda secretly afraid of what you're saying! If you have a good repair shop that you'd recommend, please let me know! I'm shooting a few rolls over the holidays so I'll know better if it's a significant problem.
I love a Texas Leica!! GREAT CAMERA. Maybe it needs some professional attention though? Street Photography SHOWING THE PORES ON THEIR FACES! I did not realize the GW690II negative was so much bigger then the square medium format negative.... IMHO
This is very cool, Keith! I haven't shot film since 2007 but I really do like it. I follow several film photographers here on You Tube. Have you shot medium format in the past? I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this "new" tool.
Mostly I dabble in film just for fun. I've played around with medium format -- you can see some negs in the video from my old Yashica Mat TLR camera. That camera died earlier this year. I decided to do this after reading about Andreas Gursky and how he got a 9 foot print out of a large negative in the early 1990s.
