@@alphaomegaprayerwarriors5123 He's a Bijon, known for long hair. This isn't even as long as it's been! lol! When we are out at our cabin I put it in a ponytail. But he does get haircuts, he just hates them...a lot!
Awwww I remember my 1st time. There's a mixture of fear, excitement, uncertainty and joy all flowing at once. Oh but when you experience it in it"s entirety and become one with nature and free your mind body and soul you know you made the right choice. I love the sound of the rain when in my vehicle. I GOT THE SAME TEAPOT AND I LOVE RED!!! Happy belated birthday!
Hello car camping sister! Yes, all those things! This trip was an eye opener for me. To feel safe and comfortable in my little car was amazing! Thank you for the belated birthday wishes! Red is the best!
I'm about to leave for my first trip on September 2. Indiana to Wyoming. Scared and excited. I retired at sixty-two and waited a year for my first trip, shame on me. I can't let fear stand in my way anymore.
Thank you❤️Freddie has been travelling since we got him as a puppy and loves it as much as I do. He turned 10 this year, which for dog years is 60! I got him for my 50th birthday. So.. we both turned 60 this year!
I just turned 60 in December and I don't think my family and friends understand why I want to take a solo camping trip. I'm planning one for this summer. I'm excited. I wish people understood
Just do it!! Lots of people don't understand why other people do the things they do. I don't get why people jump out of planes! lol! Once they see you mean to carry through and that you enjoy it, they will be proud of you and your sense of adventure!
We wanted to stop by and say the scenery was beautiful. And the doggies are so adorable. Thanks for sharing your camping trip with us. We loved the little deer.
Thanks for stopping by, Bill and Nancy! We seems to have a higher than normal number of deer in our neighbourhood this year. I even have a mama moose with twins down the road. So cute! Take care!-Sue
It was a lot of fun and a nice time to relax. Freddie was so excited when we got into the car and actually drove away! He had figured we were going somewhere for days and would dance around every time I went out to the car thinking it was time! lol! Love you too! - Sue
Thank you for all your videos. I did my second solo night last weekend and it was so amazing. Can’t wait to go again. You truly inspired me to just give it a try !
This is my first time finding your channel. I watch you make your window covers first and now this is my second video. I will be watching more. Enjoyed this trip .
Thank you! They are pretty good… must if the time😁I’m glad you were inspired! Car camping is a great way to get out and have some adventures👍Thanks for watching!❤️
Happy belated Canada day and birthday. I have enjoyed your RV videos and was so happy to see your car camping set up. I began getting my Forester ready for it’s first camping trip this fall - I’m in the states. Your province is just beautiful and I look forward to seeing all your adventures with Gracie and Freddy! Happy trails!
Hi and thanks so much for the good wishes and for watching! I'd love to hear more about how you are doing your Forester up for camping. I'm already planning our next trip! Take care and happy 4th of July!
Thanks for joining me for it! I am really enjoying car camping, especially with gas prices being what they are! I hope you’ll give it a go!👍😁Thanks for watching❤️
Thank you, Amy! One of the fun things about making videos from my adventures is being able to look back at them and relive them! I've rewatched this one several times already and it makes me look forward to the summer when I can get back out and do some more car camping adventures! Thanks for watching!
Happy Birthday Sue, I turned 61 08/15 you look great. New to your channel I enjoy your videos, I like outdoor life and nature. I just bought a 2023 GTX Sea Doo 170 and I love it love being on or by the water. Looking forward to your next video ciao ciao for now have a great safe weekend. 😊
It is a pretty area of BC. That little coffee maker is wonderful. I love pour over coffee, but lack the patience to slowly pour the water over the grounds. This one lets me pour it all into the top part and it slowly drizzles it into the cone. Makes a great cuppa!
That was fun! I really like the idea of car camping because the Accommodations are easy to drive! you seem to have everything well under control, and you’re fearless!! happy belated birthday!!
Wow, I have to say we had to do it once and it was not fun or comfortable. LOL. For you, I can imagine more difficult as you have a cat and dog. Stay safe my friend. 👍👍👍👍
I was quite amazed at how comfortable it was!👍It would be pretty crowded if it had been with my hubby and our husky dog, so pretty sure these trips will be limited to just me and Freddie and Gracie. Take care and thanks for watching!❤️
I see your "Scripto Everest" stove is very stable, wide, and low to the ground. With dogs and cats, that's a great idea. So many camp stoves are very compact but also very vertical....my dogs get into everything, so your's is the best idea.
Thanks! This little stove has been great! My husband bought it years ago and I was like "What do we need another camp stove for? We have 3 Colemans!' But man oh man! I love this thing! I took my 2 youngest kids on a road trip to Disneyland years ago and this stove made my coffee every morning, cooked many a meals in rest stops and hot chocolate for the kids at bedtime. It's never had an issue. Now, camping with my critters, it's safe for them to be around without me worrying. I thought about one of those jet boils, but they just seem way too unsturdy for safety. I'm sticking with this! Thanks for watching!!
Hi Denise! Lol! No backs were injured during the making of this video😁 Gracie and Freddie hate being left at home and travel very well. Gracie even rides on our ATV when we head to our cabin.
Thank you for this video, my first night in my golfie camper was good, the morning .... well yes, it took me the best part of 25 minutes to find my socks. hahaha....I soon realized that organization in a small car is essential.
Lol! I know exactly what you mean, Heidi! I spent quite awhile trying to find odds and ends! It definitely helps to stay organized. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy car camping!😁
🎉Happy Birthday Sue🎊 As long as Y'all had fun, it was a great camping trip! It looks like your configuration works well, maybe remember to put earplugs in your glove box😎
Congratulations on your Birthday and 1st. Car camp, you have done a nice job in designing your space without spending too much money. Best wishes on your journey.
Thank you! Both for the birthday wishes and subscribing! Freddie turned 11 in April and Gracie will be 3 in August. I got Freddie for my 50th birthday! Best gift ever! Take care and thanks for watching and leaving a comment!🥰
Campervan Caraline talked about you and sent us to check out videos! This is my second one and I am learning alot and really enjoying what I've seen. Stay Safe and Enjoy Life 😉 🙏
One reason why I tow a travel trailer is because I have my tow rig set up for camping, and can park the trialer and go on adventures no TT or RV could do. Having said that, I really hate towing. lol Love your videos and spirit!
That is a great way to travel. I really enjoyed using the car to get out and about this summer, - cheaply! We have a travel trailer and my little Toyota RV. The trailer is what my husband and I travel in together when we head south for a few months each winter. Plus, we have 2 dogs and Gracie, the cat. The trailer is great for longer trips, but my husband agrees. He's not crazy about towing. Especially in cities. Thanks so much for your kind words!
You’re on the Okanagan! My Uncle Harley and Aunt Jean lived in Kelowna throughout my childhood. I love it there. You’re car camper looks nice. I have a Toyota Prius V. I plan to camp in it all winter.
I’m jealous! I’d love a Prius! But, I’m also happy with my Matrix. Kelowna has gotten so busy you may not recognize it. We don’t go there too often. Mainly to do a Costco run. But it is beautiful!❤️
@@disabledflybaby3601 Well, thanks for doing that😁I love animals and would probably be a crazy cat/dog lady if it weren’t for my husband! Lol! Freddie and Gracie are my constant companions and thankfully enjoy travelling as much as I do❤️ Do you have pets too?
@@disabledflybaby3601 Lol! I’m sure they keep you busy! We have a husky dog as well who is at our cabin in the Yukon with my husband at the moment. She’s a handful!!
I am addicted! I just recently stumbled upon your channel and have been watching as a marathon tonight. You mentioned you just turned 60. Happy 60th Birthday! I have to tell you your skin is awesome! I’m 57 I have been trying to get my skin to look like yours! Lol! Please let me know what products you use or is it just healthy living! Lol! I was almost homeless November 2021 very sick with Covid complications, couldn’t work, landlord decided to sell the house I was renting for 5 years. With no where to go permanently. With GODs grace the day before moving temporarily into my friends basement, a rental became available due to an eviction of prior renter. Long story short, I moved into how they left it “dump” and cleaned it out as my health allowed. Landlord did work with me. Since then I have been watching van living because I don’t ever want to end up as scared and unprepared as I was November 2021. I’m saving my money and also buying things through thrift stores when I find things that are suggested on these videos! I’m going to be living in a van in the next few years! Thank you so much for all your great ideas/recommendations. And please let me know how you look and stay so young! ❤ Patty
Hi Patty! A huge thank you for watching my videos!❤️No big secrets for skincare Im afraid. I have always used a wet facecloth to wash my face with morning and night, so no cleansers. I’ve never smoked, done drugs or been a big drinker, so maybe that helped?? I’ve used various moisturizers over the years. Oil of Olay is one I use a lot, but nothing special or expensive. I always apply it in an upward stroke though. Something so picked up somewhere years ago. Defying gravity, lol?! But also because our pores face downward and applying it upwards gets it into our skin better…. But who knows if that’s true, lol! Thank you for the compliment though! Makes my day!😁 So sorry you had to go through so much stress in your living situation. What a pain!😩 Vanlife is certainly a great option! I wish you all the very best in your future adventures and preparation!! Take care-Sue❤️
I'm on the island, but one day I will go to Summer land to camp too! I have a converted 2012 Ford Transit Connect, perfect size for me with lots of headroom! I love it. Just watched your excellent tutorial on window coverings.....wish I had watched it sooner as I completely frustrated myself and almost gave up!
Summerland is such a sweet little town! You'll love it! There is so much to see and do in the Okanagan area. From one Island girl to another-Take care!-Sue
Well! Hello neighbour! Lol! I’m not too far away in the Osprey Lake area. We pass through Summerland every time we go to town and I’ve always liked it. Such a pretty town❤️I agree! There are so many places to camp in the Okanagan👍How long have you been car camping? I’d love to hear more about your experiences😁
Omgosh you do NOT look 60 😮 I know I’m late but Happy belated Birthday 🎉 I’m about to take a mini vacation with me and my two Pitbulls in my Toyota Matrix Really enjoy watching and learning from your awesome videos thank you and stay safe ❤
I'm 66 year old grandma, car camp for occasional adventures in my little Toyota Yaris white hatchback. I have a trifold thick memory foam mattress makes amazing bed with seats down.
That’s awesome!! I had acted Yaris prior to this Matrix. Sadly, some thugs thought it would be fun to smash out 3 of the side windows after trying to pry the door open. This bent the door frame. I was at our Yukon cabin at the time and the insurance company wrote it off as it would cost them more to get it somewhere to fix it than just paying me off. I miss my little Yaris. It was a great no problem car. And I did a bit of car camping in it! Very doable! Thanks for sharing your tip!
Sorry to hear that! I bought mine new 2015 she was shining on the showroom floor so I named her star 🌟she guides me on trips 😊I'm looking forward to more of your videos. Have fun out there! I drove 2000 miles roundtrip in April to see my daughter in Florida, week and a half, now planning Michigan beaches south haven my yearly getaway to write.
@@sharrose7594 Star! I love that! They really are great cars. Mine was a 2007 and never had a problem with it. It had the centred dash control panel and cup holders on the sides of the dash. They were the best!!! Best of everything on your car camping trips!❤️
My first and second or last time trying car camping was disastrous. It was in my daughters Honda Pilot and I just couldn’t get comfortable to sleep and was difficult to move around at night. I’m a big man. Looking back to when I had a hightop conversion van, I slept really good and enjoyed my entire traveling and sleeping in my van.
Hello Frank! I think camping in a car is definitely not right for everyone. I was surprised by how comfortable I found it and plan to go out on more trips. So much cheaper on gas! I would love to get a high top van one day to convert! Take care!
Wow you’re a good story teller and I love your videography and music and I used to have a matrix’s but every time I bought one of those they woukd get hit and I had to buy a new one, so now I’m in a Red Subaru outback with 11 airbags thank you for sharing. 💜🦋💕😁
Hi and thank you!❤️ My Matrix is wonderful! I had a Yaris, which I loved and took many long trips in. Never a problem. Until someone decided to break into it and bent the door. Insurance wrote it off😢. I hear subaru is a good car!
How cool. I'm obsessed with car camping and van life camping. I started watching your video and realized you were at the beach, right around the corner from where I live in Beautiful Summerland, BC!! 😅 🥰 🇨🇦 🙌
Oh wow! Hey neighbour! 🇨🇦 I live 1/2 way between Summerland and Princeton! In the Osprey Lake area. Small world! Thanks for watching and happy camping!
Hi Carol! It’s a beautiful view. The farms below are orchards and vineyards. 2 things the area is known for. Lol! I didn’t think to check my steps before bed. And Freddie and J did go for walk before bed! Take care!
Carolyn sent me over here. I'm sorry I don't know Carolyn's complete channel name but she's that pretty white-headed lady and her cute little dog. Which name escapes me right now.
Fantastic Sue!! I'm excited for you! I always wanted to know if I could car camp in my encore...its not big but if it was just me and my two small dogs ..I think I could make it work. Christian would not like it too much though cause he wouldn't be Abel to go 😄 That my thought too..I bet it would rain my first trip haha
Lol! Maybe one day we can have a ladies car camping rendezvous! I bet you could make it work in your Encore no problem. Having grown up on Vancouver Island, you learn to accept and deal with the rain. I actually love a good storm! Take care, my friend!💜
Gracie and Freddie say thank you! And yes, I do keep a couple of things handy if I need them, but primarily, driving away is the best bet. I always park in a way that allows me to pull straight out. Thanks for asking!
Thanks for the suggestion! I normally just tie them to the car, but I do have one of those tether thingies (from having had horses). I'll add that to my car camping arsenal! Thanks for watching!!
For the noise, I use wax ear plugs. Really all you hear is yourself breathing. Love your videos. I am also on keto and love trying to make camping keto food LOL. Safe travels!
Ear plugs are a great idea. My husband wears them when we travel. Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to wear the in-the-ear ones.😟Not even the earphones! They make me feel like my head is going to explode🤯And then I get a headache. 😢But, I’m sure others will appreciate your suggestion, and I appreciate your watching and leaving a comment❤️
Hi there! Enjoyed your video. I love the idea of car camping. Just haven’t been brave enough to try it yet. Just wondered what kitty gets up to while you take your pup on your walks.
Thank you! You really should give it a go! It’s very different from RVing. I enjoy both, but car camping opens up so many more overnight options. Gracie, my Kitty, is VERY used to travelling. She takes it all in stride and if left on her own in the car she usually has a hole somewhere she gets into a settles down for a nap. She’s funny because she actually growls at people who she sees outside the car. Very fierce!😾I also have a cat backpack for her so on longer walks when I think she’d enjoy getting out, she gets to come along. When we stop for a break she comes out on her leash. She’s an indoor cat, so she is only accustomed to being outside on a leash with me close by. Thanks for your question!
I was researching on buying my next vehicle and it will very likely be a Matrix. Always loved them, never owned one. Then I came across your channel and can’t stop watching because I to do enjoy camping. I’ve done it in two previous XC90s Though (An 07 and a 16), so scaling down a bit may be interesting as I usually go with a friend(who is rather tiny compared to me but we’ll see). I’m hoping that I can still fit in a Matrix(being 5’11)….might have to do some sort of floor ‘extension’ to go up to the passenger rear seat. For a mattress, I ended up buying one of the inflatable type, it kinda has octagonal pockets that is pumped up with air. I’m not exactly a small guy (hitting that 250lb mark) and I still found them quite comfortable and didn’t feel the floor at all. Maybe something to consider but then again….cat’s claws :) I’m in Southern Ontario and quite jealous of your BC views out there! Thanks for the vids, look forward to the rest!
Hi!! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the videos! More to come once it warms up!😁I had a comment from a guy who is 6ft and car camps in his Matrix. That folding front seat really does extend the sleeping length. I have a couple of the air mattress with memory foam In them that work well in the car too. One is too long and one fits perfect, but yes, Gracie’s claws could be an issue, so I’ll stick with my couch cushions for now. I’d live to hear what you end up with and if 2 can make it work! Thanks so much for watching!❤️
Looks like everything worked out really well, but maybe you need a little table and chair? I just bought a chair that folds up into a bag and only weighs 3 lbs. Search backpacking chair, and you'll see a bunch. Mine was about $25. That last place that you camped looked like a great spot.
Hi Doreen! Funny you should mention the table and chair! I actually have a wooden tv table tucked in beside my water containers and one of those little chairs that fit into a little bag under the bed in a storage area! And today!! I got one I ordered from Costco delivered to my door (not something that happens often when you live in the boonies!). It's a Cascade brand one that all folds into a little sack as well, but it has a higher back and is higher off the ground. I love it! My original one is really little, but still comfortable and perfect for sticking in my back pack for hikes. Now if the weather here would just smarten up! Take care!-Sue
First time happy birthday wait till you have stayed in car forever since house fire before Christmas lost everything home dog and car minivan life is not what I had planned at 66 but you would be surprised at how many seniors are having to spend retirement be safe
I’m so sorry, Julia❤️ I can only imagine how devastating that was to lose everything. I have seen more and more of us gals living out of vehicles. Some by choice, others due to circumstances. Prayers for you and your situation. You stay safe too❤️-Sue
I just found your channel. First thing I cant believe your 60. Second where do the dog and cat sleep? Third I will probably find out is how is your bedd set up? I have a chevy tracker and getting ready to go to home depot and have my measurements cut for my very simple build. Then I will sand put together and put in my tracker.
That’s a great camper vehicle!! 4x4?? Thanks for making me feel young! Freddie sleeps on the bottom of the bed and Gracie, the cat, usually find somewhere to snuggle down. She sometimes comes for a cuddle mid way through the night.
I am 75 years old and I don’t do too much camping anymore but I still like getting out and about and I still do that I just don’t camp in a tent anymore
I hope to be able to continue camping for many years to come. I’m past tenting mostly because of the setting up part. Once I’d tried RVing, tenting became much less comfortable😁
Thanks for your response, it’s just like I’m so amaze to people like you doing camping by yourself because I’m dying to do that to myself and not sure if I can really do it, I’m retired n divorce but still I want to experience to do that! I’m kind a scared too! Just wondering where you located at, I’m from Northern California.
You just gotta go for it👍I am in BC, Canada. Northern California is beautiful! Let me know if you choose to take the plunge and get out there! Life is short! Go have some adventures!-Sue❤️
Hi and thanks for asking! I made the screens myself. Here’s the video- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a4c7iWZ7IaY.html It’s got all the instructions to see how I made them. And after having used them many times, they have held up great!
@Honey and Me how many kilometres are on your Matrix? I own a 2006 with 244,000 kilometres runs like brand new. I can see that yours is a manual transmission👍. If you ever have any Matrix questions, don’t be afraid to ask. These cars can run anywhere from 500-800,000 kilometres. Ultra reliable Corolla engine
Hello! My Matrix hasn't reached 200k yet. Yes, it is a standard and I love driving a stick again! Thanks for the offer. They really are great little cars! This car replaced my Yaris, which I loved to bits and never had an issue with- ever!
Having grown up on Vancouver Island on Canada’s ‘wet’ coast, I can agree 100%😆I don’t remember a single camping trip where it didn’t rain at least once! Take care and thanks so much for watching and commenting❤
You're pretty close! It's Penticton, Summerland and Westbank (aka West Kelowna). Giant's Head Park is in Summeland, as well as the lake walkway. The first part takes place in Penticton (during the rainstorm). Then on to Summerland for the 1st night, Westbank the 2nd and back to the Summerland area for the 3rd. Are you from the Okanagan? We usually cross the border (when we head south for a few months in the winter) at the Christina Lake border crossing and head to Oroville to fill the pantry and fridge, so are quite familiar with that area too.
