My First Solo Flight - Cessna 150 

I took my solo flight in a 150 on July 20, 1969. One in the morning and one in the late afternoon. That evening I watched the Apollo astronauts first moon landing. Will never forget that day and that happy coincidence.

Congratulations. I remember my solo flight, you will never forget it. You looked so happy on take off, the minute the wheels left the ground, you truly became a pilot. Keep flying and good luck with the rest of your training.

I remember as a white knuckled “yoke choker”, pranging a 150 back up to 500 feet. Loved those little kites. They just loved to fly and tried to keep doing so, and so forgiving. Your first solo in an airplane is one of the greatest self-confidence boosters you can ever have...provided you survive, of course. ;) I remember my first solo in a C-150 back in 1974 like it was yesterday. I actually had to go around on my first final approach as a sailplane without a radio cut in front on me. Hasn't happened since. I hope you've kept up with your flying.

Excellent job, I remember my solo flight over 40 years ago, it's something that will stay with.

I remember my first solo...Cessna 172....I wasn't nervous about flying it...more nervous about making the decision to solo. Once I started taxiing I found myself doing the same things I been doing for months....the plane was a passenger lighter so it took off earlier and reached pattern altitude earlier....greased the landing...flipped up my microphone away from my mouth and yelled out: "YESSS!!!"

My first solo was one of the most thrilling moments of my life! Nicely done. You greased it on at the end. After a few touch and goes, my instructor just opened the door and said, "It's yours." We hadn't discussed previously on that day that I would solo. Oh, shit I was nervous but what a thrill.

Looked like some big bolts of lightning could have come down from those low hanging clouds. Great flight and your instructor did a good job of showing you the basics. Good luck on some heavy cross wind landings in the future. congradulations.

Nice job, I remember my first solo flight my knee was knocking against the side panel. I also couldn't believe how fast I was climbing. I think you look much more composed and in control then I did. I actually bought a plane and my wife went on to get her license. Keep flying, it's the only way to leave the rest of the world behind.

That look of "holy sh*t!" exasperation when you realize you're completely alone and airborne... priceless. I almost got there 12 years ago in a helicopter and this was a cool reminder. ;)

I remember my First Solo. June 26, 1983. After my Instructor jumped out, I couldn't believe how light the Aircraft was... It was fun seeing you experience that too. Good Times.

I soloed in a Cessna 150 way back in '74. Thanks for helping me relive that event. I had two major goals, SCUBA diver and pilot. Achieved both in '74 in Phoenix.

This is great! I made my first solo today exactly 50 years ago at Rotterdam The Hague Airport! It is a memorable event, August 18th, 1973...My dad forgot his camera but filmed my second solo. Today they can film your solo from the inside. I regret that I do not have my flight recorded...Lucky you!

On my first solo, I remember all my senses magnifying. I could hear things I never heard before like engine noises and the wind rushing by. It sounded like I had a door open, and then to top it off, I got cut off on my final by another airplane having engine problems landing on my runway with no radio. I was at 800 feet with flaps down and found myself flying over wooded terrain feeling very sick about the situation. My instructor waiting for me on the ground chewed the other pilot out with no mercy! What a flight!

Your first solo flight was on an overcast day in wet conditions and comfort level was enough that you were one handing the controls nearly the whole time?!?! Must be a much different training regimen than what usually get here in the U.S.
