Great video, you explain things in a very nice and approachable way. At first I thought this was one of those tech channels with several million subscribers, since the production quality is so high! When I saw it isn't I instantly subscribed, keep it up, you might make it very far like this!

I really dont get how they messed that screen connector up doing a mod chip install. The mod chip locations are no where near it, but I wonder if their board holder scratched the trace off then they melted the connector trying to repair the trace?

Hi QTronics! I have absolutely no idea how this could have happened. But your guess isn't bad! That would explain why they needed hot air. 🔥🌬️🤓

9:46 Even if you cover it with tape, won't the solder balls melt as well when you heat it up like that? Not bashing, just curious coz nand heat damage or reballing is much harder than lcd connector.

Hi Jackie, you're right, there's definitely a risk of causing more harm than good, which is why I always aim to use as little heat as possible. Perhaps this wasn't the best approach, but it seemed like the least harmful option in my eyes. I'm curious, what would your approach have been?

@@CanWeFixThat Probably flood it with low melt solder + heat from the top. Since its a faulty connector, there's no worry about destroying it. For installing, use soldering iron 100%. Wayayeo Repairs has a video showing the technique.

@jackipiegg Absolutely, for desoldering the connector, that's also a viable option! However, when it comes to installing, personally, I'm not a huge fan of soldering such connectors with a soldering iron; it just doesn't work well for me, but I believe it's a matter of personal preference. If I recall correctly, @NorthridgeFix also used heat from the bottom - maybe in my case, it was a bit more risky due to the missing shield. 😊
