Last week I had the opportunity to experience downhill mountain biking at a lift-access bike park for the first time! I was in Idaho for a wedding, and Silver Mountain Bike Park was not too far away, so why not?!
It was a fantastic day, meeting a new friend and a having a blast riding down the mountain! It was hot, it was dry, it was rutted, but none of that mattered!
My mission is to inspire others to live for experiences & adventures over material things! I post videos every Thursday at 6am Central (and sometimes more). SUBSCRIBE if you'd like to see more!

Nice thanks for the upload. I love that place but you're right, it is rough. I run three spacers and only 38 psi in my performance elite 160

Sweet riding man!! Bike parks are always scary for the first couple runs with just how fast everything is happening!

I’m in Spokane so I ride here a lot it’s just so crappy how bad the trails get by the end of the season. Makes for a lot of sore hands and tired legs😂😂 great video man. Glad I found your channel!

Thanks man! Yeah, it beats you up for sure! Do you ride at Mt. Spokane a lot? I LOVED those trails! Especially 140!

Huntstyle yes! Mt. Spokane is one of the best places I’ve ridden and I’m so glad it’s only a 30 min drive. I actually had a bad wreck up there 2 weeks ago so this weekend I have to go redeem myself. If your ever back here I got a group of guys you would probably like to ride with.

It's those giggles under your breath that I'm picking up on. I totally recognize those laughs! I rode DH bikes for about 12 years and every time I would go from my light weight trail bike to my DH bike I would have moments after jumps or blasting thru rock gardens where I would just giggle at how well DH bikes handle big terrain. I love DH. Great video man! 🤘🤘

You should do a video on Wee-Chi-Tah trail in Wichita Falls, TX or Ike's at Lake Texhoma. Its Nice to see a RU-vidr riding trails within driving distance, not just the main destinations.

Local plus traveling! I think traveling to ride your bike is one of the best things you can do! New scenery, and new trails that will make you a better rider!

i rode payday yesterday, and it was so rocky to the point that part of the trail had no trail and it was straight rocks

Dang, erosion wearing away all the dirt, apparently.

I rode it today. It’s a washboard now. Every trail has a lot of tech
@huntstyle
@huntstyle 24 дня назад
Yeah, it has been REALLY dry in this part of the country this summer (hence the terrible wildfires, ugh). That always leads to way more braking bumps. I rode Grand Targhee a month back, which is always rough, but it was even worse this year!
@mosquitofleetfishing6599
@mosquitofleetfishing6599 24 дня назад
@@huntstyle I don’t mind the tech if you can maintain speed but there’s so many braking points it’s hard to hold speed. It doesn’t help that the rental bikes (I don’t live here) are tubed tires running like 35psi so the traction isn’t as good.

It was noisy, haha, but smooth as butter landing jumps! I was so glad I had a DH bike there! It's really hard to tell how big those potholes were on the video... they were pretty deep. It was bumpy enough with 200 mm, can't imagine how it felt on a trail bike! Kinda makes me wonder if I should rent one at Angel Fire.

I got beat to hell on my bike. I couldn't ride the second day. I did ride almost all day that first day but I think I would have done better on more travel.
@huntstyle

Even a bit more travel than the Fuel would probably be good! They had Giant Trance's for rent at that park, too. I would definitely prefer my ESI Extra Chunky grips, though! Those thin grips left me with a blister on my left hand.

Great video over all! But alot of the trails seem pretty rough. I'm thinking of stopping there this Sat. on my way to Spokane. I've always liked snowboarding there and didn't even think about biking Silver Mtn until I scrolled past it on my TrailForks map!

Yeah, they were pretty rough! Even on that DH bike! I'm not sure, but don't think they'll be open yet.

@@HawkGuy82 I did! I've been there twice since this comment :) popped a tire my first time, and the second lost a hanger bolt that caused my back tire to launch over my head and down the trail as I hit the ground! lol

Nice! Have you ever ridden Enduro Motorcycles? Wondering how similar the downhill mtn bike is to a Dirtbike. I’d be used to the speed I think, but the tires are less than 1/2 the width of my dirtbike so not sure about braking.
@huntstyle
@huntstyle 6 лет назад
I've only ridden a street bike, so I'm not sure how it would compare. A habit I am still trying to break that's a result of riding a street bike... I got used to leaning with the bike. It's the opposite in mountain biking. You lean the bike over, but keep your body straight to keep more weight on the tires.
@EddieMarak-EM2
@EddieMarak-EM2 6 лет назад
Huntstyle Leaning the bike is pretty similar on a dirtbike, but what I found that’s not similar is shifting your weight forward on the seat when going up a steep section. I did that trying to go up that spot between the trees at Erwin park (instead of taking the “bypass”). Racked the shit out of myself.... I still have a LOT to learn on a mtn bike. Especially with lung capacity when it’s 85° and 85% humidity outside. Downhill looks like a blast though. Have to try that soon!
@huntstyle
@huntstyle 6 лет назад
Yep, and when going up a ledge or big rock, you actually thrust your hips forward in order to lift, or at least lighten, the back wheel. Climbing up a steep grade, there's a sweet spot, though. If you're too far forward you'll spin out (also happens if you're in too low of a gear). But if you're too far back, the front wheel will start lifting and you won't make it up. You'll get it, just takes practice!
