The four young boys performing as Queen on stage were: Paul Howard as Brian May James Currie as John Deacon Adam Gladdish as Roger Taylor, A then-unknown Scottish actor, Ross McCall (Band Of Brothers) as Freddie Mercury.
Mini-Freddie (Ross McCall) said thousands of kids auditioned. The four who made the cut didn't meet the band until the 2nd day of filming. He said he just watched everything Freddie did all day and worked his mannerisms into the performance. This was his first acting gig and he said he still gets more attention for it than anything he's done since. I've watched this video more times than I'm comfortable admitting. It just hits all the feels.
'The Miracle' (the album) was released in 1989... it was the first Queen album released since Freddie Mercury was diagnosed w/ AIDS and the band knew that Freddie's time was ending... Brian May (guitar) recalled Freddie asking the band not to discuss it any further and carry on making music as usual, so the 4 members closed ranks and worked for the next few years, and the songs written were rather somber at times... They refused to reveal anything to the press. When 'The Miracle' was released, the single 'I want it all' featured the band... but Freddie looked different and couldn't move like he usually did on stage because of his failing health. Queen did not tour for the album and kept making videos to promote the record, and rumors dogged the band that Freddie was sick (Queen denied it for years)... In America, the album was completely ignored by MTV and radio. Queen completed another album 'Innuendo' in 1991 and again refused to tour, but Freddie appeared frail in the final music video he filmed - "These are the days of our lives"... Brian May later revealed that Freddie could not work for long in the studio, so it took time to record... but when he was on the mic, he fought his pain and sang brilliantly. By the fall of 1991, Freddie was too ill to carry on and returned to his home in England where he passed away in November 1991 after finally admitting that he had AIDS 😪
I love this adorable song and video!! The kid actor who plays Freddie is Ross McCall, now a British actor best known for his work in Band Of Brothers! Brian May commented that he thought this was one of Freddie’s finest compositions!! ☺️💐
The single " The Miracle " was released in November 1989 and is from the album with the same name , released in May of the same year . Apparently Freddie joked about sending the boys, who appeared in the video out on tour instead of the band , because they were so good . I love the positive and optimistic messages in the Lyrics , and Thank You for reacting to this request ... You did It beautifully!!
Wow , 89' 🤯 That's Mind Blowing ! And I See Why , Those Boys Were On Point For Sure 😂♡ Love This Request Paul , I Really Enjoyed It . Always A Different Experience Reacting To Queen , They Cease To Amaze Me .
Brian said this is his favorite of the songs that Freddie wrote... because even though Fred was aware of his terminal diagnosis, the lyrics are so HOPEFUL and OPTIMISTIC for the future.
These are the luckiest kids on the planet!!! This is s a fun video and you can see that all of the guys like being around children, their interaction is beautiful. Brian has said that he really loved making this video. Thank you for your reaction.
Hi Mia!! Thanks for doing this video... it is one of my favorites... Yes, the kids in it are amazing... there is a documentary "The Making of..." that documents all the videos made for the MIRACLE album, check it out, kinda interesting... FAST FACT: The kid you mentioned, the mini Freddie in the yellow jacket was Ross McCall, a Scottish kid that later would become a fine actor, played in "Band of Brothers", excellent miniseries from UK... and was engaged to Jennifer Love Hewitt... Know of any other rock bands that used children in their videos?? Another one is "The Invisible Man", cute kid becomes a part of the game... not to mention a nice song... blessings.
This video is creative, but also it was made when Freddie was at the first part of his illness. And in the last videos they show him the less they could
Congratulations on 15K Mia!! If you want more Queen suggestions " Somebody To Love " Studio version ( you've done the live version). The studio version shows off the band's harmonies . Thanks
From Queen's 13th studio album of the same name, It sold well in Europe but failed to really take off in the USA, A solid album with some great deep cuts like SCANDAL and BREAKTHROUGH both top class songs with great videos
What a thrill these kids must have felt playing along side Queen Sadly at this point Freddie Mercury is keeping is illness secret. He wanted to keep making music. Sadly 2 years later we would lose him
Thanks - this is such an amazing video.. (if you just heard the song itself, it would not be nearly as impressive!).. every one of those kids were fantastic! appreciate your reaction..
Don't want to take you away from Queen reactions (never!), but you'd probably like a similar concept video called "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen. Has little band member clones in it like this one. Very cute!
