Don't be shy to ask anyone if you're unsure of anything, most Filipinos in the big towns or cities will leave you alone to give you space. Once you ask anyone for directions, chances are that you'll get more interactions than expected. Mostly, we'll be shy because we're not used to the British accent and some may have difficulty understanding you, patience and it will be okay in the end . Welcome and enjoy your Philippine adventure.
Hope you enjoyed your visit in the philippines ...if you would visit again dont be shy to ask any locals for any help they will gladly lend a hand with a smile have a safe travel.God bless

You probably went to a Goldilocks restaurant where you would have to order food at the counter like you would at an IKEA restaurant. The staff there probably assumed that you already knew this and that's why you were ignored. What was the name of that Filipino restaurant?
I can relate to your experience, everytime when you go to a foreign land it is always loads of awkwardness moment, so sorry about your experience but you know it will help a lot tp be being strong especially travelling alone, filipinos do are hospitable and welcoming but you know not everyone is, God bless your stay here in the Philippines.

Hi Luisa. Good day from the Philippines! Don’t be surprised if you’re getting a lot of likes, comments, and subscribers. That’s normal here in the Philippines. Your notifs will just blow up. 😅 Enjoy your stay, but still don’t forget to have with you a bottle of water every time you got out. It’s very hot outside these days.
for dining or takeout experience, there are several types in the Philippines 1. Carinderia/Canteen/Local Eatery-style - pick/choose the food items and pay as you order (usually self-service). Mostly does not have a menu list and you have to ask what it is called (viand name) and the ingredients. 2. Fastfood - same ordering process as Western fastfood chains 3. Restaurant/fine dining - usually there's someone at the entrance tending to the customers unless the place is busy/crowded. Has waiters/waitresses/servers roaming or on standby. BTW, when trying to seek the attention of the waiters/waitresses/servers, you can raise your hand and wave to them.
Welcome to the Philippines you look cute shy girl I hope you find some true love Filipino boy take care always of your tour I hope you go to the famous spots or underrated spots 😊l❤

yes, generally just sit down, raise your hand to staff to get their attention, ask for the menu and after choosing your meal, raise your hand again to get their attention and order. when done eating, raise your hand again to get attention, and ask for the check. its a hand thing 😊
Just be assertive and polite asking a local, i’m sure they would be glad to help you. Filipinos are generally friendly and welcoming people. You may wanna watch juicy vlog some british couple who travels a lot in Philippines, you might get some travel ideas.
You should ask because they don't know whether you need any help or you are looking for someone. Even here in England we did ask the staff. Not all restaurant are like that though.
Enjoy your stay in Philippines, you may also visit ILOILO, Experience Gigantes Islands and Explore Festive walk at night. ILOILO Also is UNESCO's City of Gastronomy

Maybe you went to a fastfood not a restaurant, in restaurants waiters bring you the menu and ask for your order while fastfoods you go to the counter to order foods.. just my thoughts
Just speak to people. Some might not be able to understand you but they will eventually. Ask how can I order. Do you have a menu? Then they will assist you. Most of the Filipino restaurant crew or fast food crew are always helpful.
I think you went to a self service Filipino restaurant, where you point at the food you like. Just guessing. Jollibee is a Filipino fast food, counter part of McDonalds. If you like chicken, you can go to Mang Inasal. Chowking is another. In the islands, you can easily go to a small restaurant where you choose your food. And don't be afraid to ask anyone for help. ❤
Sorry to your bad experience at the Restaurants there, Its an isolated incident , I was there a month ago everybody were nice and welcoming from the streets to the malls and public transport. I hope you wont have another bad experience .
When i go to a restaurant and sit down, someone would always come and hand me the menu, leave and come back to take my order. That resto u went to has lousy service n would leave too.
