Next up in circling the Mediterranean in 40 days... Tunisia! We loved exploring Tunis and Sidi Bou Said, trying local street food, and learning more about the fascinating and unique history of this region.
For years, I've had a dream of circling the whole Mediterranean; not just the European coasts but also exploring the Middle East and North Africa. My sister, Sage, and I got to planning and together we are embarking on this adventure together. When we were looking at the travel space, it seemed that female creators still appear to be far outnumbered and local female stories are had to come by. With this in mind, we want to explore each location through the lens and experience of the local gals who live there to gain a better understanding of the culture, politics, and history of each region.

I'm actually upset that I've never been to Tunisia. As a Moroccan, I don't understand why we feel the need to travel to other countries in Europe for example and forget our beautiful neighbouring countries. You made me wanna visit Tunisia! ❤

Tunisia Main history is being Carthage not just that : Carthage Was one of the biggest Empires back then for so many years , And as Tunisian i feel like that part is always missing , We had one of the greatest General of all time Hannibal Barca , its rich of history , but yea just wanted to say that , cuz lot talk abt tunisia but they never talk abt great carthage , our true history

Because they Arabized. After minister Mzali destroyed education and implented Arabism. Today it's worse then ever with a choice between Ennahda and co "Islamist political ideology" and "neo" Arabist stuck in the 60 , like the president Kais Said .

@@alphachief6085 can we just stop this divisive and hate speech and embrace our history and diversities? We are blessed to have a rich history and a country that witnessed multiple powerful civilizations including the Phoenician and the Arab Islamic civilization which was one of the biggest civilizations the human kind ever witnessed. If you want to be identified as an Amazigh then fine, if I want to be identified as an Arab is also fine. There's no wrong way about it, we're all descendents of both civilizations. Don't let envy, hate and xenophobia hold us back. I'm so tired of this stupid, never ending discussion. Let's move on!
@alphachief6085

@@nidhalmahjoubi7964 Ah my Cancel Culture friend, maybe you can explain me why your school curriculum devote almost no time on Carthage ? Why the constitution says Tunisia is an Arab country ? Which it isn't. Why the ordinary Tunisian can't name any historic figure from that era but Hannibal 🤣? My understanding is that mayority of Tunisians want to be Arab. More than the Arab themselves 🤣. You really think you will get a piece of the pie 🤣🤣🤣 ($$$$$). You've got nothing from the Arab "brothers" but surmons from religious clerics from the middle east , especially after 2011. Before the came via satellite T.V. since the late '90 in your households. While they envied you and made progression by your export workforce made in Tunisia which education was financed by Tunisians who pay their taxes, like the woman picking the olives which hands are hard and coarse from the work they do. Curriculum that teaches history from the year Okba Bin Nafaa landed in Tunisia 🤣🤣🤣. Stockholm syndrome applies to the majority of Tunisians. Saoedi Arabia wants to invest just in one project 500 billion USD it's called The Line, Qatar spends 225 billion USD in their world cup adventure. But the "brothers" couldn't help Tunisia out as a matter affect they didn't want to hand out Ben Ali and his family, no they gave them asylum. Still Tunisian love to be Arabs , even the Arabs laugh about this, they don't accept Tunisians as Arabs. The reputation of Tunisian man in the Arab world is that they are weak because the woman are treated almost equal which is alien to them. Tunisia a Arab Country 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@nidhalmahjoubi7964
@nidhalmahjoubi7964 Год назад
@@alphachief6085 1) what's the "cancel culture" got to do with anything. What's in my comment suggest that I want to cancel you because you want to be identified as an Amazigh or Arab or whatever you like. If anything, it's the opposite 2) that's not right, we've had lessons about the Phoenician and Carthaginian civilization in History classes in multiple grades and as early as the 5th grade 3) The constitution says Tunisia is an Arab country because Arabic is our official language. But it doesn't forbid you from identifying yourself as an Amazigh 4) the majority of Tunisians will fail to name the 4 major Caliphates of Islam or even mention the 5 pillars of Islam. It's not about you, it's about the failure of the education system in general 5) if bigoted people from both ends of the stick get over their inner hate and envy we would be fine. If you take a look at the "normal citizens" of Tunisia, they don't give a flying fuck if you identify yourself as an Arab or Amazigh (religious matter is a totally different discussion though) Get over yourself and your inflated ego, live your life the way you want and let other people live their lives however they want. I loved your video! Not only is the editing on point, but as a Tunisian I truly appreciated how well researched and well informed you were about the history and politics of the country you visited! Btw what you ate at the beginning is called ma9roudh! It's fried pastry made with dates and it originates from the city of Kairouan and dates back to the early Middle Age! Tunisia is not in its best shape or form as of now due to the economic crisis and political unrest, but hopefully we will one day stand back on our feet!

A RU-vidr visits a country to distort it, based on its poor population waiting for a homeless person to give them a little money, and a hungry person who makes a backward comment. We are in 2023, world. I walk around all of Tunisia and I do not see scenes of poverty and deprivation, but I see them on the channel of a homeless RU-vidr who lives in the Middle Ages

I did a week in Tunisia staying in Sousse and did the day trip to Tunis visiting the Medina, the mosque in the Medina, Bardo Museum, city centre, Sidi Bou Said, Roman Carthage and Lake Tunis before heading back to Sousse. I've visited other parts of Tunisia like Port El Kantanoui, Skanes, Monastir, 2 day trip to Sahara Desert (includes El Jem Amphitheatre, Matmata, Douz where we did the Sahara Desert on camel, Chott El Jerid Salt Desert, dune bashing, Tamerza Canyon, Chebika Waterfalls, Tozeur doing the horse carriage around the oasis, Gafsa, Kairoun Mosque) and obviously Sousse

Habib Bourguiba began instituting secular freedoms for women in 1956, such as access to higher education, the right to file for divorce, and equal job payment for men and women. Our prime minister is a women 💪 Unfortunately, After the revolution some Tunisian people and activists want to just focus on the negative. We improve with only an optimistic mindset. 😊

im gonna dig deep into this, im an 18 year old tunisian boy and i live amongst the most urban areas and i also lived with rich people and ive had rich friends so i assume i know 80% of teenagers and their mindset, when olfa said that she had confidence in the new generation, i really lost it because at the moment 95% of teenager are lost and stand for nothing, most of us are having an identity crisis due to the european and american culture being spread through social media, most of us have no standards and just live and go with the flow, we have no plans for tomrrow because we barely think for ourselves because we are so brainwashed through social media.

Elena, can you pretty please do a video on how you pack for your trips? I love the outfits you bring on your travels and want to know if you use a capsule wardrobe, carry-on, or checked bag. Asking for when I plan my big trip around the world!
