I know someone who lives there and they were going on their own trip and asked if I wanted to stay at their place while they were gone, so it sort of chose me, but I'm so glad it did!
@@patrickhundley1203 it's the best way to do it, instead of living in a hotel. I lived in MTL for 10 years. I understand the attraction to the city, but living there was a nightmare. 99% of Canada is woods, lake, peace and quiet. That's why i live for.
Another Montrealer here to tell you that you did a great job representing our city! There is so much more to see! A hockey game at the Bell Center, the Olympic stadium, a tennis match at Jarry Park and of course smoked meat!!! (First smoked meat THEN .... smoked meat poutine.... yes it is as wonderful as it sounds)
As a Quebecois, I must say: -->Five words reviews of main tourist attractions -->Professing his love of poutine over 45 seconds, mentioning it could fix all of Earth's problems. My man.
Enfin ... Poutine et Gelato ... on ne parle pas de la même chose bien sûr!
@@clairemercier3969 Maybe your circle actually despises poutine as a low-brow dish - and there is some truth to it - but it is very popular in Montreal and the rest of Quebec as well. It's not only a "tourist" food, by any means.
@@clairemercier3969 Tu me niaise ou t'es complètement dans le champ?! If I didn't care about my diet and money, I would eat Benny's poutine au poulet several times a week!
Yeah, that comment was a bit insulting to older people. Either he thinks that only older people ride the bus, or he thinks that they cannot ride bikes.
5:44 We can tell you're american by the way you describe people who ride public transport haha; taking the bus is very normal and in fact its quite the opposite here. Most people who take the bus are young working individuals in the city! No shame in it!!! On the contrary older retired people are usually in their cars driving themselves places. Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver and even some places in the middle of nowhere have Public Transport systems. I visited Mont-Tremblant and they had a bus system as well!
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love 💚 , and peace all over the world 🌏. I would love us to be good friends in honesty and in trust so as time goes on it will bring something great for us in the future, hope you don't mind? I'm Gabriel Wood from Nashville, Tennessee where are you from if I may ask?❤ l love you so much.
Greetings from Montreal. You made a wise choice in making Montreal your first journey outside the U.S. I'm glad you enjoyed our city as well. There are special poutine restos that only serve a multitude of different Poutine. If the ones you had blew your mind, then be prepared on your next visit. Summers are best, Festival Season. Hopefully, you will return again in the future.
Loved your ode to poutine 😄 Have you tried it in different flavors? Like with smoked meat, Portuguese chicken & merguez, etc? So happy you took the time to go to Quebec city as well; people often go just to Montreal, but miss one of the best part of our Belle Province with Quebec city! So glad you enjoyed it! 😊
@@patrickhundley1203 The good old reliable for me is the Benny restaurant poutine au poulet, with shredded chicken. I also got often a sweet potatoes poutine with extra chipotle sauce while I was working at A&W's.
Thanks for visiting Montreal .a UNESCO design city like Berlin ... you should come during summer ... it is like New Yorld city with festivals , fun and hot weather ( 90 f)

If you loved Montreal in May you should visit end of June to mid October....first off, all the festivals week after week and the fall colours are something to experience :D
Sigh. The American mentality of thinking buses are for old or poor people. Enjoyed your video! I’m American who moved to Montréal years back. Ok… which park had that self cleaning self disinfecting bathroom?? I never heard of that 😮
As a Montrealer I gotta say man, you're right about poutine. Best noms in existence!! Glad you enjoyed my city man, really warms my heart to see people enjoying my hometown :)
I know both Montreal and Quebec City well and visit them as often as I can. It was very interesting to hear about them from the point of view of a first time tourist. This was a nice video. Thanks.
Someone who "loves to travel" is leaving the U.S. for the first time in their life....and don't see the irony in the statement. Yup! Must be "Murican" all right!
The new REM (réseau express métropolitain) just opened today and you should try it next time you visit the city. I am a 60 year old Montrealer and one thing I like about the city is the bike trails. Next time you visit I will be glad to show you the trail that goes from old Montreal all the way to lake St-Louis or the one from St-Lambert to Varennes. These trails are beautiful. You can also take a shuttle on the St-Laurence river on one of the Navark shuttles.
Poutine and bagels in Montreal. Smoked meat....ok they have a lot of great restaurants. Glad you enjoyed Montreal! I live in Downtown Toronto and I love going to Montreal. Going to see the Habs play is an event too. Although they haven't been so great lately. Come on Habs!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed Montreal! Montreal was love at first sight for me and hopefully my future home. There is no place like it on the North American continent.
Nice video. I am also a photographer. And go all the time. Totally my favorite city in north america. Hey. Note the mountain is one of the largest Necropol in the world. So full of Ghosts ......oh and montreal got crazy architecture and some sick. Subway stations . one of the only city. With this much Art. Maybe the only rival is san fran
Great time lapse from the Jacques Cartier bridge. You spent a lot of time on St-Helen island… but indeed the skyline is great from there. I wish you showed what the poutine looked like 😅. Every small fast food shack are claiming they have the best one. And yes, we’re still baffled as why this dish is not mainstream in the US !!
The best time to be in Montreal is in July when it comes alive with 142 outdoor concerts and festivals..a unique vibe no other city has is the people..out in the streets dancing, playing music and just having a great time…
Oooh Montreal, awesome choice P.S. Nice video and camera work btw! Also, would poutine go over well in the U.S.? I’m thinking it would, but as a non American, I have no clue
So simple to make yourself. Double-fried potatoes, some fresh soft cheese, and a very hot gravy sauce. Double-fried so the potato would not become mushy quickly by the gravy, The gravy has to be really hot to melt the cheese, cheddar curds by preference. Also, check out the annual Poutine Week in Quebec, where the restaurants/chefs compete for their variations on a poutine; some recipes are really creative. Poutine has become international: one-time, I saw a clip on German TV!
This guy is an Artist . Waiting hours even at night for the perfect picture gives impressonant result . He is passionate in is love for scenery and trasmit is entousiame to other . KUDO
WOW! Absolutely breathtaking dude!!! Those Timelapses were stunning and you did such a great job of capturing the best Montreal had to offer! Great job my dude!!
It was along the waterfront near old Montreal I think. Quebec City was the first place I've been with coed public restrooms, I thought i went in the wrong restroom at first😂
I hope you went out to bar / club , the night life here is insane. You made me appreciate my city by the long shot from day to night , really well done !
Wanna elevate the poutine experience? Just, add, BACON....also, beer is a good side drink and Canada is known for micro/artisan breweries Also, greetings from the west of the island As a foodie, go to jean-talon market and T&T
Great video, honesty, no BS, the essentials, glad you enjoyed Montréal and Québec as whole as it's quite unique in NA and I'm working to make this place a country one day.
Great video! I hadn’t been to Montreal 4 years due to the pandemic. The metro trains are brand new…do they still have rubber tires? Only other one I’ve seen was the Mexico City subway. Anyway, there are sites out there where people offer their places for house- and pet-sitting so you can go away for long periods of time without worrying about lodging. Something to look into as you get into doing more travel abroad!
A few lines in Paris are with rubber tires. Montreal and Mexico City bought the technology when they built their subway system. The decision makers (back in the 60s) say that they are quieter and have better acceleration.
I was actually pet sitting for someone i knew! I also thought the rubber tires were strange on the metro, it made a lot of noise when they were going fast, but the trains were really nice otherwise!
Montreal is so fun to walk around love the older areas of our city I love Halifax Nova Scotia also. The thing I love about Montreal is when I hear people speaking a mixture of English and French
Americans: the O in Montreal is pronounced like the O in Monkey or Monday or Month. Munn-tree-all. Not "MAHN-tree-all". You stick out like a sore thumb when you say MAHN-tree-all.
Nice video but next time make sure to stop at The Cirque du Soleil in Old Montreal. You were showing the tent and saying there was nothing here. It's where they show there new shows LOL
Beautiful video! As a Canadian I really enjoyed this about one of the most charming cities! One of my brothers' studied in Montreal. I live outside of Toronto. I really found the part about the poutine original and funny! The poutine tastes much better in Montreal than the poutine I have tried in Ontario though. And you poked the milk bag haha!
🤣🤣🤣! You seem to like poutine! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I don’t blame you it is amazing! 🤣🤣🤣 for the botanical garden your opinion about it would change if you talked to any of the cool gardeners maintaining it. Yes the round about on the bicycle path is very unique as I recognized it right away. There is only one. 🤣🤣🤣 very good video! Well done. When you come back to Montreal make sure that you go to China town for dim sum while listening to Leonard Cohen music. If you like winter Montreal is very nice to visit during winter.
As a Quebecois , i traveled across all the province and the Québec city region is the most beautiful place of the province Charlevoix region 40 minutes north , La Beauce 30 minutes east Laurentien park north ouest , Jacques- Cartier park , stonham region ( hollywood went there for TV series . So many things to see there ...
Poutine is not really the true Quebecois staple, it is more of a tourist trap by adding the cheese curds to bump up the price. The true Quebecois dish is called "frite-sauce" which is molasses dip fries drenched with the gravy without the cheese curds and doused with a ton of black pepper.
