Not only was Geoff brilliant in this video, I believe it was one of the encores!!! He'd sang for an hour an a half then did this performance. Unparalleled!!!
I appreciate the fact that you let the whole song play straight through without stopping it at the high points to comment. Geoff Tate is in a league of his own. You should listen to Operation Mind Crime.
Rage for Order blew my mind the first time I heard it in the 80s. It was SO different from anything around. Sampling, with Pink-Floyd-meets-metal meets-opera.
I'm an older guy.I've been to hundreds and hundreds of concerts.I saw Queensryche in the early 90's.The tightest band I ever saw.Geoff Tate the lead singer was spot on.
I beat u there , I’m an older guy as well, 56 now, but I first saw Queensryche at the Hammersmith odeon supporting Bon jovi, we didn’t give a shit about jovi, we hasd a Queensryche banner draped over the balcony cause we were front row up top, eventually Bon jovi sent up one of his cronies and told us to take the banner down, we told him to Go Fuck Himself😂the banner stayed, Geoff and the boys played a blinder in there Rage For Order costumes, those were the days 👍
@@brettkeepin808 and I beat you there......I saw this tour...The Warning...in Sacramento, CA. They totally blew Kiss away that night. I also saw the Rage Tour (the vampire tour). QR was just ahead of their time. Always changing.
From the Seattle area, Queensryche was my favorite band for many years. 1st time seeing them live was 1983 opening for DIO at the paramount theater. Still one of the best shows I have ever seen. Seen them play with Dream Theater again at the Paramount, it was the start of Dream Theater becoming my favorite band. Geoff has some new material that is AMAZING, singing for Sweet Oblivion. Highly recommend checking it out. Like a modern Queensryche! Cheers to us old rockers!!
Take hold of the flame is a great place to start with queensryche. Jeff Tate's voice, one of the greatest of all time imo .Great video , great reaction , thanks Georgia
Next to last song of the 2nd show they did that day. Geoff Tate is an epic singer. His voice is literally the 5th instrument in the band. not enough attention is given to guitarist Chris DeGarmo and how well he harmonizes with Tate.
Not to mention, this song was the 2nd to last on that set, they had an encore track they tore through called "Queen of the Reich" at the end, but he straight up sang like this all concert long. Geoff Tate is in a league all on his own.
This is the 18th review of this song that I have seen. I have seen reactions from vocal coaches and ordinary fans. But, every single person is shocked when Geoff Tate hits that first high note. It is even more fun to watch someone who has never heard of Queensryche (Pronounced Queens Rike) before. I can guess you may not have a lot of experience with Metal (Especially Prog Metal), but you seem to be open minded, which is important when you are doing reactions. What you have stumbled onto is one of the very best Progressive Metal bands. In fact, Queensryche along with a band called Fates Warning are credited with starting Prog Metal. You have also stumbled onto the very best metal singer of alltime. If you want to hear more check out anything between 1983 and 1996 by Queensryche.
Your reaction was pretty much my reaction back in the day when they came out. Been a huge Queesnsryche fan ever since. Also, it's pronounced "QueensRyke"
Great reaction Georgia your much more confident in yourself these days which is nice to see. Geoff Tate is an amazing vocalist and their album Operation Mindcrime is IMO one of the best concept albums ever written after WASP's Crimson Idol.
Operation: Mindcrime is an amazing album from start to finish. MUST listen to it in order (preferably in one go) as it tells a coherent story. 35 years old and the album is just as relevant today as it was when it was released.
you are really incredible. I watched you hear geoffs' voice for the first time and i love you very much. I saw them live, which is even more unreal. Love you darlin
Best Album ever made. I always wanted to see them make a movie around Operatio Mindcrime... or a play on broadway... I would have been there on opening night.
Geoff Tate is a classically trained opera singer as is the rest of the band to some extent that's why they harmonize so well . Glad to see you enjoy this band. I'm a older metal head 53 years old black male. Back in the day it was not as common to see people like me at shows most people are cool and accepted me so I fit in . I've seen your jinjer reaction and thought you might like this band better. 😁 Is anybody listening is another great Queensrych song. There all pretty good though . Peace ✌️ from Alaska
Its take hold ! Take hold ! Lol but with the combination of this music and ur reaction NOW THAT'S INCREDIBLE!!! I seen them in the nightys , great show ! Nissan pavilion Washington DC u rock girl
Little lady ❤️ I love the Zeppelin connection, I know I'm dating myself here but I was 17 when queensryche came into the music family of life and I thank you so so much for taking me back ❤️ From the states with much love ❤️🌎❤️🌎
Goeff Tate is incredible. Maybe the purest voice in history. The lady in Black is an insane song. It will take your soul on a complete journey. Take hold the Ryche!
I saw Queensryhe open for Metallica in 89 and had no idea who they were. I was so stoked to see Metallica after 100's of hours of listening to And Justice for All but was BLOWN away by Queensryche. Even got to meet them backstage and have been a fan since Feb 1989 at 18 years old. love your channel young lady, keep up the great work.
Damn, Its funny... all of us pretty much "hone in" on Geoff Tate in this video for the most part because of his God like vocals, but when you stop and dissect the entire song, look and listen, the musicianship from top to bottom is Godamn AMAZING!!! Scott Rockinfeild is a drum machine / monster!? Hes almost singing his own song within his drum kit... Chris and Eddie... Jesus, the vocal Harmonies ON TOP of the Guitar / Bass Riffs, and that INSANE guitar lead with SO much emotion!!! ... my point is, its not just Geoff here that blows my mind, the entire band were beyond amazing... and remember, this is LIVE folks, ...LIVE. FKNG LIVE!!! How many bands actually sound even HALF this good LIVE??? Very, very, very few... I INDEED miss The RYCHE. ; )
Some of the best vocalists are Metal frontmen. I'm an old man now but I got to see Metal unfold n fill up arenas around the world. It was fuckin epic. 🤘😎
Every reactor to this song does the same thing, because it can't be helped, the jaw drop at the first high note followed by WOW when the rest of the band kicks in. Well done pretty lady.
Didn't know what to expect when I clicked on you & yr reaction, but Queensrÿche guided my click. Very glad I did. You're interesting & engaging, & watching your face break into little smiles of appreciation here & there as you watched was priceless. I first saw Queensrÿche in '86, touring their then-new album 'Rage for Order' (still my favourite album of theirs) & was blown away, especially by Geoff Tate's incredible vocals & the guitar & drums of Chris DeGarmo & Scott Rockenfield respectively. They followed it with what is one of the true great concept albums of all time, 'Operation: Mindcrime', in '88, a work that genuinely needs to be heard in its entirety by anyone who understands good music. If you want to listen to more, I suggest 'Gonna Get Close to You' or 'Walk in the Shadows' from 'Rage' or 'Revolution Calling', 'I Don't Believe in Love' or 'Eyes of a Stranger' from 'Mindcdrime' (have to say, tho, the tracks from 'Mindcrime' might leave questions unanswered as they form part of the story & are being taken out of context). I drifted away from them after their following album, 'Empire' in 1990 ('Silent Lucidity' & 'Jet City Woman' are absolutely outstanding tracks from this disc, MORE than worth a listen) but rekindled my interest in them with their 2019 release 'The Verdict', the third w/a rather good new vocalist Todd La Torre, & am now exploring their back-catalogue. In 2007, they released an album of covers by bands such as The Police, Peter Gabriel, Black Sabbath & Pink Floyd, called 'Take Cover'; their cover of Floyd's 'Welcome to the Machine' is one of the greatest covers, let alone of a Floyd song (all imo, of course) ever; If you know the original, PLEASE give it a listen, even if just for yr own pleasure. Anyways, enough rambling. I really enjoyed yr reaction, & look forward to more. You got a new sub, Blondie.
Couple of thoughts. 1. Queensryche - pronounced Queens--"ryke". 2. Like has already been mentioned, any of the songs off of the Operation Mindcrime album would definitely be worth checking out. 3. A recommendation or two or more from Operation Mindcrime... - "Revolution Calling" - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CNdOsL4Xe7Q.html - "Eyes of a Stranger" - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A4duZjxusGM.html - "I Don't Believe in Love" - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2c3g6tTYoxM.html (I was introduced to Queensryche back in 1988...opening for Metallica. That was an awesome show.)
I was in San Diego for this tour. They opened for Kiss. 1984 along with ALL of the 80's ROCKED. The period for the REAL DEAL in Music would be 1967 - 1992. By the mid to late 70's there was SUCH diverse music going on. I was in my teens for all the 70's. In my 20's for ALL the 80's. I am 61 at this moment. I --- AM --- a Musician and I ROCK. I play Bass Guitar mainly, but play other instruments as well. Classically trained in music theory at age 13. Sorry but music SUCKS NOW.
Hey Georgia! Since we're doing 80's metal, just a few recommendations, please!! 1) Nobody's Fool - Cinderella 2) Rock You Like a Hurricane - Scorpions 3) Cum on Feel the Noize - Quiet Riot 4) Still of the Night - Whitesnake 5) Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard Not all my personal favorites, but I think you will love them. All are classics. Please!! xx J ❤
Pure talent . Geoff Tate for seven glorious years , for peak value , he was the best vocalist in music , across the board . At his peak , he possessed a five octave range . He could hit E5 naturals , a very rare feat for a natural born baritone . And please remember , his E5 naturals are sung in full voice , not falsetto. Incredible. Another thing that is not mentioned , is how Queensryche compositions were written in such a way , to showcase Geoff Tate 's extraordinary vocal range . The jumps in pitch and octave range. Very reminiscent of operas composed by Mozart . One opera: The Magic Flute . An exceptional vocalist.
If you want some Queensryche selections to listen to here are a few Silent Lucidity Another Rainy Night Anybody listening And for some live performances Last Night in Paris and Scarborough Fair are very good selections.
Yes....amazing tour. The Warning Tour. I saw them in Sacramento, CA back in '85. You should also check out anything live from the Rage for Order, Empire and Promised Land tours. I was lucky enough to see those live too!
Love the reaction to the first high E5 note! Probably the same that happened with me when I first heard them (in the 80s) and never stopped. Welcome to the QR world! (BTW, pronounced more like "Ryke" or the german word "Reich", I suppose.) Geoff Tate is the best there ever was. Many moons ago we went to see them on tour in the winter, then waited outside in the cold to see if we meet the band, and Michael (Wilton, guitar) peeked out invited us in where it was warm. Got to meet the whole band and even the singer who sang Mary's part in Operation:Mindcrime! Best album ever, highly recommended. It tells a story from beginning to end.
Pretty much anything off of Operation Mindcrime is a winner, plus others from their catalog, like Silent Lucidity, Jet City Woman, and Queen of the Reich.
They had one of the best vocalists in rock at the time in Geoff Tate and an amazing drummer in Scott Rockenfield. I saw this incredible band perform live many decades ago!!
What's really interesting about Queensryche is they were never a headliner until Empire was released 8 almost 9 years after this live recording in 1984. It's hard to believe after watching this video they were an opening act.
Queens Rike. Say it as one word. Being a teen of the early 80s, I've seen Queensryche many times and they never failed to please. They were one of the few bands that actually sounded better live than on studio albums. I'm thinking Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Rush, etc. Early Nightwish reminds me of Queensryche's stage production. You should check out End of an Era with Tarja Turunen. The last live album with their first vocalist.
What a band, first saw them supporting Dio way back in 83/84 and instantly loved them - Operation Mindcrime is their crowning moment but they have a great wealth of fantastic music 🤘
Tate studied voice as a kid he had a aunt that was a Opera singer. He wanted to be a Opera singer too as a kid then he later wanted to pursue a football career he had a knee injury so he went back to singing again
Operation Mindcrime is the best album ever made. Must listen to it from start to finish. I've seen Queensryche 6 times... one time was at the House of Blues in Chicago... with Lita Ford. Best convert ever, they played Operation Mindcrime from beginning to end. Geoff Tate's mother was an Opera Singer, and he has a 5 active voice.
You see dollface, back before midi on a grid rap trash there used to be this extinct species called real musicians and vocalists! ;-) The competition was fierce back in the day too! It was all much more than a game to those of us who dared to play it! :-) It's wonderful to see a young person like yourself enjoy and respect music from my generation! I have some other suggestions for you if you're interested!
The whole original band were untouchable! This link sent was the encore song, straight after this song. They'd been playing hard for quite a long time, and Geoff's voice always delivers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YklSwADBOkg.html
Pronounced: "Queens Rike". The back up singers were singing "Take Hold", can easily be mistaken as "hey hoe" lol. Seen them in concert 5 times from 1986 to 1991 before Geoff Tate left the band in 1992. Just about every song from Queensryche is that level of vocals. Every song in their catalog up through the album "Empire" is outstanding. You can't go wrong with any of these songs: Lady Wore Black, Queen of the Ryche, Walk in the Shadows, I Dream Infrared, The entire Operation: Mindcrime album, Best I Can, Empire, and I'm probably leaving out 10 to 15 other songs, but you get the picture.
One of the best bands of the '80's peaking in popularity in 1991. Saw them 5 times and never disappointed. Check out some Mindcrime songs but make sure you watch the "Livecrime" version of the song... try Suite Sister Mary. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8CZGion20E4.html
In the first 30 seconds or so, he covers two octaves. From D3 up tp E5. like it's nothing. Opera singers don't bounce around like that. It would scare the crap out of them. It's amazing singing and he does it with little effort or thought.. He's one of the great singers. Placido Domingo, couldn't nail this song as Tate does.
Hi Georgia, Love the new section opening you added in....so here we are - Queensryche [ rhymes with bike ] - Brilliant ! Loved this group since my 20's. You will have noticed by now the wee mention of "Operation Mindcrime" in the comments. Lol .... Much as I would love a reaction to tracks from it, I think should you get this at some time in the future that you enjoy the experience of the whole album. It's a brilliant story of brainwashing someone to kill - a priest. For once enjoy this one album for yourself....There are plenty of other albums & tracks you can react to by this amazing group.....eg; Empire / The Thin Line / Della Brown, just a few examples as there really are so many...Take care, Byee X Jim
Dude i literally just saw the amazon email 😂😭thank you so much dude!!! Another to add to my collection 😁 I'm gonna create a cute little place for everything too😁I appreciate it!!! X
Hi can I suggest a review of Soundgarden - Fell On Black Days or Blow Up The Outside World - I think you will Digg it... All the best from Southern California
Hey Insane Blondie👊 First time commenting on one of your reactions. Loved to see the WOW factor in your expression ❤️ That was mine back in ‘84 when the album it appears on THE WARNING came out On Sept. 7, 12 days before I turned 19. Still WOWS me till today🤟. One of their best live performances is from a concert recorded in July 2001 in Seattle. Check out the dual song video Breaking the Silence / I Don’t Believe in Love. Absolutely 1 of my favorite live performances🎸⚡️❣️On a side note please check out my favorite band DOKKEN (since ‘83). Plenty of good stuff. When life has you down TURN UP THE VOLUME & ROCK. YOU CAN’T GO WRONG. 🤟🎸🎼🎧🌎
Seen them many times over the years. Listen to Iron Maiden, Invaders from Number Of The Beast, The Trooper of Piece Of Mind, The Time Of The Ancient Mariner
