So yeah, my first Reaction Video, huh? lol TIME II is out now!!! Everybody go listen and buy this awesome album by Wintersun. ristridi.de/ge... #wintersun #timeII #reaction
@@ThorShredsjust put youtube on slower speed and figure it out, youll get influenced by Jari or any other guitar player much more this way than if you just use tabs
One with the Shadows is the most vintage Wintersun track on the album and easily the catchiest. Makes sense considering he wrote it in 1998. Crazy. When the double bass and screams kick in it’s exactly like Sleeping Stars. Epic as HELL
I learned “Death and the Healing” by your video how you played in guitar cover. Thanks. Hope you will create new covers by this new album Time II. I’ll wait for that.
Translation to the Finnish part in Silver Leaves: Someday I will see you again But my time is nearing its end I will leave a piece of me To the silver leaves Someday I will hear silence Filling up this emptiness And finally I will be buried into the silver leaves
I was supposed to listen to this for the first time with the CD I ordered, and to pick it up later this day. I couldn't wait so listened the TIME II for the first time through your channel 🤩
Snare is not an issue at all for me. Album sounds insane. Although I will definitely say, this is a “large musical processor aka musical nerds” required to enjoy this album I think. Slightly less geared to general audiences. The way of the fire has so much complex and layered shit happening it’s hard to keep up
I agree. And you also need pretty high quality audio gear to really listen it all. And many people just play music in the background while doing something else and this kind of music is complex enough to require active listening or it will be just wall of sound.
As I really don't have anything against the snare or the mixing and mastering, I thoroughly enjoyed the first listen. Will probably dive deeper into it tomorrow. It's an 8/10 for me at first listen. Time I is a 10/10 to me tho and it's scoring off the charts on nostalgia points, the period in my life I associate the release with and other intangibles that don't really have anything to do with the music itself
its growing on me fast... I feel time 1 was more bombastic.. and Time 2 has more emotional deep... the first one was all about the guitars and music.... this one too but Jari as a vocalist lyricist and artist takes center stage...
Same thing I have with Time 1! For me it's very nostalgic, although my first listen to it was around 2016.. Idk what they did there, but it just sticks to your memories
Time II will grow into a 10 as well, with the right sound system/head gear and files that fits your environment and preferences ... a true masterpiece this is. Dynamic 2db files fully did it for me.
Dynamic 2db files. Enough said. And Storm ... is so fucking insane. Unbelievable piece. Almost tops Sons of Winter and Stars, almost. Nothing against the snare, so that's just a matter of taste. Time II didn't take 20 years though, he has worked on 4-5 albums worth on the side along with Time II and released The Forest Seasons, and remixed both Time I and The Forest Seasons for this package, as well as modern sound of 53 of his old unreleased content.
47:34 no idea of sound design but did you try out the dynamic 2db versions from the crowdfunding album. I'm gonna next listen to Silver Leaves instrumental
For me the -2 Dlb mix is the best version of the album. Together with Time 1 2.0 it is an instant classic 10/10. Some of the best orchestrations and melodies to come out in recent years. Jari is such a genius for writing catchy, technical and harmonious melodies. I think he is unique in that matter compared to most other composers/artists today.
The more i listen the album the more i like it. I was catched by One with the shadows instantly in the clips they share. Did not liked storm that much on the clip. But hearing the full song is different, the solo guitar part is probably the best of the guitars parts in the album. And Silver leaves its really good
what I found is the louder you listen the more the mix bothers me which is a shame. you could drop the drums like 3db and it would still be kinda loud. the album could in general be a bit quiter and dynamic
At a first listen Storm is definetely the best one as a whole for me, such a powerfull trip that was from Omnious Clouds to Storm. Also yes the snare is an issue, not the sound itself but the mixing choice to have it too much click-y, I get the tought process of pushing bit on the transient to cut trought the very dense mix but he definetely overdid it, like I put the separate files in my Daw and compressed the drums just to tame the transient and with only a -2db reduction its alot better
and people have been waiting for this for many years(( luckily, I heard Time only 2 years ago and I didn't have to wait that long... besides, I was sure that it was simply unrealistic to create something better than Time and Sons of Winter and Stars, so I'm not as disappointed as many who were waiting for this album to be released in the hope of hearing another masterpiece from Jari
Ich warte schon auf Time 2 1.5, das Schlagzeug ist leider völlig kaputt "produziert". Ich wünschte Jari hätte für das Schlagzeug in etwa den Klang von den Time I Sonic Pump rehearsals gewählt..
A few people I've seen complain about the snare. I'm not a metal musician so I'm not too familiar with how since instruments are supposed to sound like. When I listened the album, not once I thought something was wrong with the drums and the snare so I'm curious about what exactly is wrong with it? Is it just an opinion thing or is Jari, a very well established metal musician somehow not aware of this issue? Whatever the case, I think it fits well with the mix of this particular album but I wouldn't mind hearing a mix with "better" snare sound. Maybe it wouldn't fit as well with this album.
Aside from the snare and the vocals being a bit low in the mix, it's a great mix imo, at least considering all the stuff going on. other than that, 10/10 album
I agree about the snare. It's the only thing I don't like in the new sound. Also, to be honest, Silver Leaves did not live up to expectations for me. But I really liked the demos that I had a chance to hear already, and the new The Forest Seasons sound is better to me, so overall I don't regret supporting this package at all. And finally, I respect Jari for staying in studio to record the new albums right away, when he could make money on touring instead.
Maybe if you give it a couple of more playthroughs. For me it *hit* on the 3rd one, suddenly hearing the subtle build-ups mid-song, all the details and nuances in background tracks, etc.
Hello Ristridi (and everybody else). About the drums: Could you perhaps share some similar tune where the drums sounds great compared to a Wintersun track where it sounds bad. I'd love to be able to hear the difference myself, and if more prominent snare would have any impact on other parts. When it comes to balance there are tradeoffs ofc and perhaps they sacrificed the snare to allow something else to sound more full.
@@E6add9 Honestly, I don't like that Snare Sound either. I think I kind of know what Jari was going for. It's a different subgenre, sure (Tech-Death) and it's totally "over-produced" in the sense that every note sounds like it has been recorded seperatly. But it's on purpose: The Zenith Passage - Datalysium That's generally a pretty well produced album with amazing sound and style
@@ristridi Ja, super geil. Danke für den Input. The Zenith Passage kannte ich noch nicht, nachdem Periphery in ihren jüngsten Veröffentlichungen nun so langsam ausgelauscht klingen, ist dies frischer Wind in meinen Ohren👌
Agree on the snare geez it’s bad. Too compressed, sounds like someone put a cloth over it. I also think there are times when the guitars and vocals get buried under the orchestras. Worst mix is we are the fire, so many layers though. I also think there’s a bit of fluff in some songs which make the album run time seem longer, like start and end of silver leaves.
Yes. The snare sound is a joke. When I heard the "ghost notes" I thought it was some 80's drum machine sound for dance music. Bass drum sound is almost acceptable. Other than those two, you can't even hear.
