My FIRST Time Playing Batman: Arkham Asylum!

As someone who’s very familiar with the Batman universe, seeing someone who isn’t that familiar get that first look at Killer Croc was pretty great.

You must play the entire Arkham series especially Arkham Knight that game has some serious twists and it's still visually phenomenal despite being old with great gameplay mechanics

You know it's a good introduction when someone with little Batman knowledge is figuring things out in real time. I think that's one of Asylum's greatest feats

Batman won't kill anyone. If you watched the Christopher Nolan trilogy, you'll recall batman saying "I won't kill you but I don't have to save you" and the Joker saying "You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness and I won't kill you because you're just too much fun".

The Arkham series is sooooo good! You are going to love this game 100% 🙌

Used to stand in Best Buy and play the first 20 minutes over and over again until I got a PS3. Can’t even count the amount of times I’ve played this game. So hyped to watch your first playthrough!!

This game was made by such a small team it's a wonderful take on Batman, the voice actors are fantastic, the story is great, the freeflow combat system revolutionised fighting especially against large groups and inspired many games going forward like PS4 Spider-Man and Shadow of Mordor.

I remember buying this game after work when it came out in 2009. I got home around 9 pm, played til 330 am.... right after the first scarecrow sequence. Perfect timing.

Batman is my favorite character of all time! The Arkham series is amazing and it was so epic that the voice cast from Batman Animated Series reprised their roles for the games. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are the definitive Batman and Joker for me. They’re the reason I became a Batman fan! Hope you enjoy the Arkham series Sky!

Never would i have expected you to play one of my favorite games and my most loved super hero game. This is gonna be a good one!😂

Ooh! This was a very pleasant surprise. Asylum may feel a little outdated today, but I feel that the series as a whole (including Origins) really holds up. I (re)played through them as little as a few months ago myself and I still enjoyed the combat, the puzzles and the cutscenes.

Yaaas the Arkham games hit so hard. The whole Trilogy is great. I hope you become a Batman fan and learn his struggles & mindset.

So like the Spider-Man PS4 game the Arkham Games are set in their own continuity. But it does pull heavily from comics from the mainline DC universe from Barbara Gordon being shot and paralyzed by the Joker an event featured in The Killing Joke comic to other fun references and nods throughout the game relating to events brought up and in the character bios. So even though this game isn't connected to the comics it does follow a very similar history up until this point. The Bat suit and the Batmobile are original designs so they do a great job at making this Batman stand out and iconic to the series. DC has a whole Multiverse of Earths with the mainline DC continuity being set on Earth-0 or Prime Earth. These games don't have an Earth number from my understanding but people often refer to it as the Arkhamverse. This includes Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins, Arkham Knight, and finally the up in coming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This game is heavily inspired by the Batman Animated Series visually and in tone as well. But it goes even deeper as it also features many of the same voice actors from Kevin Conroy as Batman, Mark Hamill as the Joker, and Arleen Sorkin as Harley Quinn with the character of Harley Quinn actually being an original character created for the show only to be brought into mainline comics in 1999. The game is also written by Paul Dini who was heavily involved with the writing of the Animated Series and even wrote Batman comics as well so it's like a follow to up the Animated Series mixed with the comics. Gotham itself is a fictional setting, America is filled with fictional cities in the DC universe from The Art Deco City of Tomorrow known as Metropolis the home of Superman to Central City home of The Flash. Gotham has a very timeless gothic meets art deco look to it something you don't really see in this game, Gotham in the background of this game though looks pretty typical American City but the next game they go all in on the depiction of Gotham. Like the 1930s meets modern times a hybrid of olds meets new. The Animated Series dived more into this set in the 1990s but people wore hybrid clothes and drove around in very 1930s to 1950s looking cars in a Dark Deco city with alot of Art Deco. It's a really fun setting but it's not the main focus of Arkham Asylum.

Arkham Asylum was what got me into the Batman Mythos as a kid. I was 7 and had no idea who Zasz was or that Arkham Asylum has been a thing in the comics for decades. I fell in love with Batman's character because of this game!

Literally just finished replaying this game like last night, such a classic and super influential title. All the Arkham games are worth the time investment for sure, hope we get a full series on the channel.

I already know that people are going to love this series. I have seen everyone do blind playthroughs be really surprised by how much love.

This game has such a special place in my heart. I play it every so often to honor the late Kevin Conroy (the voice of batman for 20+ years)

Possibly one of the best game trilogies made in my opinion next to the Mass Effect trilogy games. I will definitely continue watching the whole series! Once you get the controls and Batman lore you will probably love the Batman games, have fun!

This game is so much fun as are the rest of the series. I was completely in awe when this came out, incorporating all the comics lore, and mixing it the animated Batman by bringing in some great acting by Mark Hamill and our dearly departed Kevin Conroy, may he rest in peace. Then adding all the absolutely fun game mechanics, weapons, and combat system, just an entertaining story, this game is still a blast. Enjoy this journey Skyy, really enjoying this channel and the games I love.

Let's go! You're gonna love it so much. Try to play Origins after Arkham City if you can. It's not remastered, but it provides such great backstory for this universe and a lot of stuff is referenced in Arkham Knight. Have fun! Can't wait to see what you think of it all.

Most people somewhat struggle with the combat style upon their first play through, but you adapt really well! It’s cool to see you learn about the Batman mythos for the first time, I can tell you’re gonna get good at this trilogy quickly 😊 Also, detective mode is your best friend! Use it as much as you want, especially in situations with gunman, it’ll save your life. You’ve definitely got a sub from me :)

Smash teeth with Baterangs and collect Riddler secrets (trophies, interview tapes or scanning the answer to Riddles) to earn XP to get upgrades. If a Riddler quest is flashing it means that you are in that room. Some Riddles need you to use Detective Mode and find a question mark on the ground wall or roof, it will be split into two parts needing you to match up the two parts to solve the Riddle.

DUDE! I've just loved these games and characters for so many years, and watching someone play through it for the first time is such a cool thing. Honestly, a kind of a privilege. Figuring out the story, the fighting, picking up a weird little green glowy thing and learning about riddler trophies for the first time. AGH! takes me back. I love love love it. Sidenote: idk if you'll read this, but if you like collectables and story, then def find all the riddler trophies, solve all the riddles, and get the chronicles of Arkham. And yeah this game was super well received and it revolutionized superhero games lol. And gaming in general

I loved this game growing up. It’s so good and the fighting is a blast. A perfect game for the fall really because it has the creepy/spooky vibe. I’ve also drove past a prison and they had road signs saying hitchhikers may be escaping inmates, super creepy.

Hello! HUGE Arkham fanboy here, this game was received as the best superhero-based game on the time of its release and got me (as well as many others) HOOKED on the world revolving around Batman. Was a big gateway for reading comics and all that.. the story isn't too crazy (especially for Asylum) but if you go out of your way to solve riddles as well as find the different interview tapes, you learn some pretty awesome stuff. Can't wait for you to make another video on this game (:

happy to see you started this. i have tips for combats. the fight style is like rhyme . its freeflow . when you punch one inmate you can lead to another and repeat this without waste a punch and then your xp will increase and allows you to use special move . its combat style is so fun. get yourself ready for hundreds of easter eggs 😅

So happy you're trying this it's hands down in my top favorite games category. U are gonna love this the combat once u get the hang of it is fantastic and there's loot galore. Arkham City is one of the greatest games of all time. Those teeth are collectibles by the way so hit em with a batarang!

It's amazing how well Asylum holds up today. Sure, the mechanics got tweaked and perfected in later games, the fact this game is still so incredible today speaks wonders. And it's also a great introduction to the Batman mythos. I had 80s parents so I was raised on the Batman movies and Lego games, but the Arkham verse was my first real step into the Batman world, and I still consider it to be the definitive version of the characters . Of this hame specifically, i love the metroidvania aspect. Its why this is probably my favorite riddler challenge. Getting more equipment as fhe game goes on and you slowly realize that trophies you had to leave behind before are now accessible was always so cool to me. Anyway, loved the video and cant wait to see the rest of the series now that i can binge them all
