The new video is up showing you guys the new engine going in and the complete tear down of the old engine and what failed: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SMuSqESZ7_8.html
I love that despite you being probably the biggest car mechanic youtuber, you are still just as humble and quality oriented as day 1. Your positive attitude inspires me so much, thank you for uploading these awesome vids even if it doesn't always go as planned
@Jack Hoffman 7 months ago. I still want to stress it. You are dorky. He uploads when he wants to. He uploads on his own time, which is why his videos are quality. RU-vidrs who upload daily tire themselves out. I don't think people want hin to tire himself out.
@Jack Hoffman he uploads at his own pace. Daily uploads of poor quality work, or this standard of work, at a slow pace? As someone who watches the videos for fun, the former ir better. But Chris does it to help people, and the latter makes it so much better for whoever is doing the same to their car
I noticed that oil pump nut had the hole through it for the wire. That means someone on your team must be kicking themselves for not putting it on before the race. Hope they don’t feel too bad, you guys will get it next time!
Love your videos! Without them I’d be lost. We have a huge e46 community down here in Orlando and every April 6th(4/6) we have a party, most of us wear a bandana as an homage to you and your work! Lmao.
The other teams willing to lent you a garage and tools put a big smile on my face, it makes the racing experience so much better and more fun for everyone! It's sad your team couldn't finish but the things you and your team learned/will learn will make for an epic come back! I wish you and your team the best of luck next time :D
@@chrisfix almost 9 million subscribers. 65K views within an hour of posting a new video. Still responds to comments. That is amazingly awesome. Thank you.
Lemons, and most car groups in general tend to be full of really down to earth people! Real people+ everyone having a shared hobby makes for some great friendships!
Team Frankenvette here; it was awesome seeing you out there with us. I'm glad to see that you are taking what you learned and rolling with it. We've seen guys rage quit for less. Hope to see you on the track this year.
@@chrisfix don't rush, like you said, if you rush you make mistakes, don't worry there is still a chance! Oh and make sure to check the oil filter housing!
It was sad that you had to replace the engine, but it just shows that other people are willing to help you with almost anything, like the garage spot you got, and the engine from the junkyard. Looks like you had a great time! Enjoyed the video too :)
As soon as I heard engine swap, I knew it wasn't going to be quick, I've done the same thing with my e39 going from an m52tu to an m54, and yes it might've taken only 15 hours of work, but it was constant work figuring out everything with these engines. The worst part from my own experience was putting the engine in, and completely forgetting to swap over the old oil pan (D'oh!)! My donor engine was from a z4 and obviously, the pans were different, but I, just as your team, was very tired, and just wanted to finish the project. Good luck next year, hope to see you all in the parade! Don't forget to swap out VANOS seals and the DISA valve!
That's awesome that so many people were willing to help you guys out after your misfortunes. Despite the disappointment you all must have felt, I think seeing others offer their help is an awesome silver lining. I'm excited to see how things go for ya'll in the next one!
This good info for new racers and to start with older car without a ECU, AWD, etc. But the best part is you guys had fun and came together as a team. Our team is only 3 races into LeMons and have made great friends and had a good time helping others out.
As a longtime ChrisFix subscriber I can only say - this video was awesome! Thanks for taking us along for the ride. You guys were fantastic in the face of adversity. Even the hotel stuffed you around - what a cluster! But your team did their best and showed grit, character and never-say-die attitude - loved it!
If this video has taught me anything it's that the car / motorsport community definitely has some incredibly kind, good-hearted people that are rare to find usually.
Carry on chris, just carry on !! What a great experience man, thanks for sharing. I cant wait to see your team back to the track, and i believe you guys gonna do better on the next race series. God bless
I remember when i went with my dad for his first drag race, he was super nervous and a lot of bad stuff happend. Even thou was frustrating it was fun, i feel you chris 🤝
Hey Chris, I just wanna thank you for this channel, I started watching you when I was 13, and it’s what got me into cars. in one week I start my job as a general service technician at a local shop. If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have this job. You have helped so many people and me and my friend just have your videos on loop when we work on his truck.
Hey guys, we are starting our first lemons race in 3 weeks. Your race woahs have been our worst fears. We are running a 1983 Mustang GT. No electronics. No sensors. Simple motor. Simple everything. Let's see if we have any better luck. Great video!
I have one thing to say about your seat belts. You need to pull them much tighter so that you cannot move from the seat other then that you did an amazing job on the safety side of things
This is insane content. Very nicely done vid! You are definitely an avid influence and gift to the entire RU-vid community. Respect! ✊🏽 A question though; in layman’s terms, could someone explain the ins and outs of a rod, what it does, and its importance on vehicles? So much so that it requires an entire engine swap? Crazy!
Hey Chris, glad to see you enjoy the race, thats life man ups and downs all along. All the best for your next race... Also im planning to buya a NA miata and hoping to turbo it diy so waiting for your take on turboing... No pressure on you, take your time just make it happen buddy!!! 👊
Look on the bright side. Now you have a bunch of spares for that engine. You can even try to play with porting and other modifications with the spares.
I’m surprised that you chose BMW, for an endurance race. Knowing how BMW’s oil leak problem is so common, you still chose to run with it. For reliable endurance, Toyota & Honda should’ve been considered, which clearly showed as 2/3 winners. I’m just surprised that the other winner was a Dodge. Had you been using a Toyota or Honda, I’d guarantee that you’d be in that parade of finishers.
Enjoyed this series man. Sorry about the car. Feel like I'm always learning something too. You guys did great despite your bad luck, plus looks like you all had a blast!
I have a 400$ car I've been working on and I feel this so hard. Sometimes you win, sometimes Murphy's Law kicks in lol. Great job though, and it's so awesome that everyone really pitched in to help.
Been there, done that in a rally car. Rally Colorado is HOT. 95F air temp and who knows what the temp was in car. Probably 130+. Then, add the dust and corners, ups and downs, looking at notes then the road. I need a cool shirt for those hot summer events.
i have a tip when your steering dont move yout hands just keep them one the same place and hit some more apexes you can go all over the curbs hope you see this
Chris earlier I was at Walmart. They had Fram ultra air filters for $1 each. I thought damn Chris would be excited if he could buy some lol. Thanks for all the helpful videos!
Next time a Honda would be nice those German cars are good and fancy but in reliability Japanese or Korean or even American cars are better hope you win it next time Chris!
Sounds like you need to do some conditioning before a race like this that way you are in shape to actually drive effectively. Yes, it gets hot. That’s why you prepare. THIS IS A RACE
Remember the day that you made the 1 million subscriber special time to get prepared for a 10 million cause you're 2 million away from 10 million subscribers congratulations bro I've been watching before the driftstang
Hey ChrisFix! I’ve been a longtime viewer and fan of the channel and even have started on working on my own project car. You’ve inspired me and many others but there’s one i particular that I want to do a favor for. I have an environmental science teacher at my school who has a son that absolutely loves your videos. They both appreciate how in your videos you still try to cater to the environment. It would be awesome if you could send a personalized video to them because my teacher has been so awesome this year and it would mean the world to his son. Thank you!
