@@lincohorn7750 I Agree with the part that BTS' discography contains more deep and personal songs that would represent them better, but Dyna and Butter are their songs too and definitely do represent one of many sides of their versatility. BTS chose to participate in these songs and proudly Identify with them, so let's not degrade the songs by calling them 'Purchased Songs' just because BTS didn't involve in the writing. Lots of artists' greatest hits weren't written by them, but are still recognized as THEIR songs. Also, you are wrong about BTS not having a hand in writing English songs. Conceptually Black Swan speaks on their fear of loosing their passion for their art. There is a quote that kind of inspires the whole song "A dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing. The first death is the more painful." You'll learn pretty quickly how diverse they are in genre and concept. It's enough to give you whiplash. They'll do a banger like Mic Drop then turn around and release a heart breaking ballad like House of Cards from the vocal line. If you want to see something more upbeat perhaps something like Dope, Idol, or Fire, those have MV's. Another great one is Run BTS off of their most recent album Proof. No MV but there is a dance practice video and they also performed it live in their free concert in Busan. I highly recommend live performances, they are beasts on stage.

Butter & Dynamite are the Anomalies. Their purpose was levity; to cheer people up during the pandemia. Permission to Dance, also in English was to celebrate the world stabilizing post Pandemia. BTS doesn't have a Genre. Their Albums come in series. They follow different concepts and are inspired by Art, Psychology, Philosophy and Sociology. There is not 1 song or album that can represent BTS. They are all vastly different. Enjoy your Journey! 💜

I totally agree. Butter & Dynamite are actually not a good representation of BTS😅 And BTS can't really be boxed into one genre. There is no music act doing what they are doing. The fact that they have a Fictional Story line that is told throughout their Music Videos, songs, webtoons, notes, books & even mobile games, that alone is enough to understand BTS as something beyond just music; and the music, specifically the message & lirycs are more than enough. As you probably know, I'm a huge fan of BTS, and I feel like I need to clear up a misconception that some people have about them. While it's true that BTS is an incredibly talented group of musicians, singers, and dancers, they are so much more than that. They are artists in every sense of the word. Their music speaks to people all over the world, and their message of love, self-acceptance, and social awareness is more important now than ever before. BTS is a group that has worked hard to break down barriers and stereotypes, and they have done so with incredible grace and humility. They are not just entertainers, they are activists, advocates, and role models for millions of people. So, the next time someone tells you that BTS is just a group of guys who can sing and dance, I hope you'll remember that they are so much more than that. They are a force for good in the world, and their impact is truly immeasurable. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope you'll continue to support BTS in all that they do.💜

They filmed the MV at the Los Angeles Theatre in the Broadway Theatre District in Los Angeles. Most Army (BTS fans) would say Dynamite, Permission to Dance (written by Ed Sheeran) and Butter are the least BTS-like songs they’ve done. They used outside writers (rare for BTS) to make a few songs for Army while they were going through Covid, to help Army stay happy and positive. That said, not many BTS songs are as dark as Black Swan. They do keep us guessing as to what genre each new song may be. BTS writes songs with great meaning, generally speaking the majority of Kpop isn’t like that, usually much more shallow content. But there are lots of great songs from other groups too. Haven’t found anything that can hold a candle to BTS lyrics on most songs. They of course have some that are more simple flex songs. I like the guide by xCeleste best, just because it does touch on a breakdown of Army age and gender diversity. I’d watch both hers and Taylor’s. For now, you’ll get a million suggestions, no matter what order you go in someone will think (and write, maybe in ALL CAPS) that you need to do it differently. But there is no right or wrong way. Jump in, enjoy the variety of their work and just have fun.

BTS debuted in 2013, BP debuted in 2016. Also... I can't stress enough to break yourself out of the mindset of "Kpop" when it comes to BTS. Technically they DO fall under that label, but Kpop is more of an industry than a genre. BTS are basically their OWN genre since they cover so many different genres and blend them within songs and albums. They have 10 YEARS worth of songs (over 300 tracks)... there is NO SUCH THING as ONE SONG that completely encompasses who BTS ARE. You need to delve a hell of a lot deeper into their discography and behind the scene videos to have true sense of WHO THEY ARE. If a single track could completely show WHO a group of SEVEN artists are... I don't think they'd be a group worth listening to. Taylor's guide is the most recent and complete, but there are others as well. BTS is actually releasing an official 'How we became who we are' type of documentary on Disney+ sometime this Summer or Fall.

Black Swan is one of the best BTS song. Probably top 5 and Masterpiece for me. Many experts such as Producers, vocal coach, rappers who make their own music ,Editors, poets,etc called this song masterpiece mentioning perfect blend of melody, beat ,lyrics, singing and also appreciating the artistic elements represented in the MV. Many people also said that Black Swan should have been nominated by Grammy instead of Dynamite but Grammy nominated Dynamite because it was in English and song broke many records. I really appreciate your reaction and I hope in time you will realise this song is masterpiece. If you listen again and this song is not what kpop really is. Black Swan was one of the main tracks from Map of the Soul: 7. Their Map of the Soul albums explored the psychological concepts of Carl Jung, the idea of the Persona, Shadow, and Ego, as related to the members themselves. Black Swan addresses one of their "Shadows", the fear of losing their passion for music. That's why it was so dark. Black Swan is actually a huge fan favorite.

Interestingly enough, Dynamite/Butter/PTD are actually more along the lines of what pop-boybands are perceived as, but those songs were actually the anomalies of BTS's discography. Many people don't give BTS a chance because they just associate them with every other k-pop or even any other boy-band and think they're all the same. I can tell you I thought the same thing and gave my Army friends a hard time at first. BTS is very thought provoking. If you react to them a little longer, you'll realize that there are layers to their music. On the surface level, you'll find up-beat, catchy songs. A layer down, it may sound like a love song. Below that is probably another message, and if you go even deeper there's probably hidden messages related to psychology or art, or novels, or poems, etc. Another reactor (I forgot the name at the moment) mentioned that BTS is like a movement, which I agree. BTS uses their music/popularity/platform to try and make the world a better place, and try to help their fans go through hard times and become better people. You don't have to like all their music, but you can't have anything bad to say about a group who's trying to use their popularity for good. I personally think it's very refreshing compared to other popular artists that just use their fame for selfish reasons or just add to the already messed up society we live in. React to a few more of their songs with an open mind and you'll see why they are so loved. We can start with their music first, because BTS goes beyond music and I don't want to overwhelm you with everything they are just yet. Half the fun is discovering that stuff yourself anyways. Hope you enjoy the journey 💜

@@chillbydesign let's keep it easy for now. don't want to dig too deep yet. Just to give you a taste of different types of songs they can do (they have over 300 songs). One thing to keep in mind is that every artist sounds good in their official MVs, since it's studio produced and even the dancing looks amazing (especially K-pop groups) because they really just need to dance hard for 10 secs and rely on post-production editing. BTSs' live performances are what sets themselves apart from others as performers because their energy level and 200% performance is like no other. They also write a lot of their music so you can feel the pain/emotions they felt when they were writing the songs and when they perform it. Since you just started on the BTS journey, i won't recommend too much that shows off their emotional performances since I don't think you'll fully understand it at this point. Idol: RM and Suga were underground rappers before joining BTS, they got a lot of hate for joining an idol group. and the group themselves got a lot of hate. So they did this song. It's speculated that the video is over-the-top as mockery towards how K-pop MVs are done. Most k-pop MVs are high in production, lots of fancy sets and outfits, flashy lights, etc. ON Manifesto Film: this gives you an idea of their swag and dancing. There's also a dance practice and a live performance done on Jimmy Fallon at the Grand Central Terminal. There's also the official MV that gives a totally different vibe. I need you: This is part of a fictional story line that runs through a few albums and MVs. This song gave them their first win. Don't go too in-depth on this one yet as there's SO much to unpack. I don't even fully understand the story yet. It can be a whole separate journey on it's own. But i think it's a nice sample of their discography. Just based on this MV, you will hear the lyrics "i need you girl" and you'll think it's a love song towards a girl. But if you watch the video, it's actually love towards the group of friends. You can see that they're happy when they're together, but they are actually going through their own individual struggles outside of the group. This touches on very real scenarios in life Cypher Part 3: No music video. you can do the colour coded lyric videos or a live. This is a sample of what the rap line can do House of Cards (Live): This is a sample of what the vocal line can do. I suggest the live because they put a lot of emotions into their performance that might be missed from a lyric video. Spring Day: This was a very controversial video/song. It calls out a tragedy that happened in south korea. I didn't fact check this, but i was told it's been 7 years and this song is still charting in Korea for that very reason. To give you an idea of how deep their songs can go, you can follow up with explanation videos on this song. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tye1ONFeKis.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FrT4a_Fw6pE.html Let's start there first. the thing is that butter and dynamite do not really represent bts that well, the members had a lot more contribution to a song like black swan than both dynamite and butter, whether its from the lyrics, to the concept and production. The lyrics are actually about THEM, about their feelings and fears. The song expresses the concept of the album itself, and is a part of the journey that comes with it. Dynamite and butter are singles written by american songwriters in a language they aren't even fluent in or know enough to express really complex feelings like black swan and other bts songs, how could these songs represent them better when they can't even speak that language fluently or wrote any of the lyrics ? BTS aren't just performers they are SONGWRITERS. Black swan is literally about the intricate fears of an artist, losing the passion for what made you start your art, in this case its music. It's the feeling of burning out, which got them to go on a break last year. BTS has many songs like black swan lyrically speaking about intricate feelings, while i can only name one other songs that is similar to butter and dynamite, that got released alongside butter to finish the english fun trilogy. BTS has a lot of upbeat music don't get me wrong, but even their most upbeat happiest sounding music often has really dark lyrics that comes with it. Not always as dark as black swan, the message can be more uplifting, coming froma dark place but with hopeful message, a conclusion of a past problem. Butter and dynamite are literally just about having fun. There's not much layers to it, it was made to cheer people up during the pandemic and reach a global audience, that's why they made english songs for the first time, cuz the pandemic affected everyone. it comes from a place with pure intentions, but its the intentions of bts themselves of chosing to perform it, not the intentions of the american songwriters who just wanted bts to sing this cuz its mainstream enough for radio and to be a summer hit. That song could've been handed to anyone else, it wouldn't be as big of a hit if it wasn't bts singing it, since they added the performance aspects, but it would've still be similar cuz bts didn't add a lot about them, the members, into the song, aside from their vocal tones and dancing skills and stage charisma.

BTS does so many genres, you can't really fit them into one type of music. I found BTS through this song also, in May 2021. I am way down the rabbit hole. Black Swan has to do with their fear of losing their passion for music and dancing. It's based on a movie of the same name wherein a ballerina died her first death (losing her ability to dance), which is said to be worse or more painful than the final death. A lot of BTS lyrics are deep. Not all and certainly not the 3 all-English songs that came out during the pandemic to help make their fan base (and others) feel better. They are Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance. Most of their songs are in Korean with some English, or in Japanese with some English. To get to know who they are, please watch "An Introduction to BTS: The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari. It probably explains the most of each member, and it shows a little bit of their history/beginnings and then shows each member in the order they joined Big Hit (now part of Hybe) and joined BTS. I think you'll be amazed. Also, just know that A LOT has happened since May 2022 (the date that video is current as of). I can't help with any other groups, because as far as K-Pop I only know of the groups, but don't listen to the other groups. I consider BTS to be beyond K-Pop at this point. They are Global stars now, both as a group and as solo artists. More on that later.

I highly recommend the guide "The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari. It's not only the most recent but also the most comprehensive as it describes both the group, members and fandom all in one. It's really difficult pointing to a song of theirs and saying that's BTS because they do EVERYTHING from neosoul to battle style rap and the subjects are just as varied: Greek mythology, socio-economic issues, Jungian psychology, classical litterature, astronomy, marine biology and so much more. Trust me, these guys are something else. There's a reason their fandom alone is bigger than the rest of the kpop fandoms combined and includes all genders, ages, faiths and nationalities. -a danish ARMY, age 46 💜

Chris Martin wrote it for them after one of the BTS boys, Jin, mentioned wanting to work with them and someone passed it along. Hi, thank you for taking the time to look into BTS. You'll find out there is more than meets the eye when it comes to BTS. I think you will really enjoy this band once you get to know more about it. Their story is great, they started from nothing and were the underdogs because they came from a small agency. Now that "small" agency is on the cover of Time Magazine as one of the most influential companies. My apologies in advance if this gets a little long, SORRY! I just want to help you out with some key things to know. - BTS = Bulletproof boy scouts (Bantang Soyeaondan in Korean), and it stands for being bulletproof to stereotypes, bulling and criticism. - Kpop (common misconception but it is not a genre) it's an industry. BTS started as a hip hop group in 2013, but quickly evolved and with in their 300+ song catalogue you can find pop, ballads, hip hop, R&B, EDM, rap, jazz, latin pop, etc. -There are 7 members: 3 rapers and 4 vocalists. Each of them so different from the other and bringing something unique to the table. *Kim Namjoon (RM): The leader of the group, born in 94' he is the main rapper, song writer, and super mega intelligent with an IQ of 148. He was the first member to be recruited and the band was built around him. He chose Rap Monster for his stage name, RM, but evolved and changed it to "Real Me". *Kim Seokjin (Jin): Born in 92' he is the oldest, and even though in Korea that means he has more privileges he doesn't use his "Hyung" (older brother) benefits. He is super funny and lovable. Was studding to become an actor when the recruiting team found him, and he was recruited mainly because of his good looks. He learned to sing and dance from 0, and now has one of the most beautiful voices in the industry. He is doing his military service right now. (they are taking a brake right now because they all have to go and will get back together in 2025) *Min Yoongi (SUGA): Born in 93' he is also a main rapper, song writer and producer. SUGA (ShooGua) means Shooting Guard, the position he played in his basketball team in high school. Yoongi is an introvert, who prefers to be in his studio writing songs, he writes an average of 300 songs a year. He writes and produces for other artists as well, not just BTS. *Jeon Hoseok (J-Hope): Born in 94' he is the lead dancer. His background is from street dancing. He also raps, and he is the happy engine of the group. He choose J-Hope for his stage name because he wanted to bring hope to people. *Park Jimin (Jimin): Born in 95' he is one of the main dancers, his background is in contemporary dance and was the last one to be recruited. Jimin has an angelic voice and a beautiful soul. *Kim Taehyung (V): Born in 95' Tae has one of the most unique soulful voices, he is the baritone of the group and has low tones and high pitches you wouldn't imagine. Have you heard the phrase "Think outside the box"? well, out of the seven that would be Tae. He is an artist in every aspect of the word. *Jung Jungkook (JK): Born in 97' he is the youngest of the group, also their main vocalist. He has the most stable voice specially when dancing... oh yeah they don't use playbacks, or lip sing, ever. JK is the "Golden Maknae" (Maknae = the youngest), RM gave him that nickname because he is good at everything he does... everything. -Their training period lasted about 2 years, where they lived in a dorm, many trainees came and went, about 30 I believe, and these 7 were chosen to become BTS. They were in their teens when they debuted, JK(youngest) was 16 and Jin(oldest) was 20. Their company, Big Hit entertainment (which mission statement is "Music and artist for healing") was a very small company, and the boys literary started from nothing. They all shared one room in their 2 room apartment and worked really hard to get where they are. -BTS's music talks about self-love, acceptance, political injustice, depression, mental health, empowerment and more important subjects you don't really see pop groups singing about. They do not write your typical "love song". Their videos and lyrics have a lot of symbolisms, and for some you might need to watch the explanation video afterwards because it is too much to take in. They have a couple of songs addressing their hatters (yes, they get a lot of hate - and Mic Drop is one of them), and other songs dedicated to ARMY (The name of their fandom). - ARMY is a huge fandom, with men and women from all ages. (Not all teenage girls like many people think) -Visually, their videos are master pieces. Eye candy for the visual artists like me, and if you are into videos and editing... their cinematography and productions will blow your mind. Keep in mind in the Kpop industry the use of make up and clothing is part of the whole illusion to complete the "stage" (presentation). -These guys are down to earth, genuine, good guys. You can see it in everything they do. They have dedicated the last 10 years since they debuted in 2013 to give to their fans... they had a variety show called Run BTS and do regular Vlives with their fans. They are rewriting what the relationship between an artist and their fans is, and that is why we love them so much. -They have produced so much content, there is something for everyone. Not just the genres of their music, but their variety show RUN BTS, v lives, staycation shows IN THE SOOP, vacation shows BON VOYAGE, bangtan bombs and episodes (which are behind the scenes of everything they do), and solo work. ***Please keep in mind in the Korean culture it's ok to be friendly/touchy/caring for your bro, aside the fact these guys have lived together for 10 years. They grew up together and treat each other like family. If you want to hear sample of their music and variety of genres, "Room Live: Festa 2021" is a great video for you to check. Also, to get to know about their history, who they are and why we love them so much it would be great for you to check "A guide to BTS" by Taylor. Don't be scared of long videos, ARMY loves them and will watch every second of them with you. Pause if you need to read. As for suggestions... they have over 300 songs.... what kind of music do you like? lol... UGH!, Cyphers Part 1-4, Ddaeng, Daechwita, Joke, Outro:Tear if you like rap . Also... Fire, Dynamite, DNA, Save me, GoGo, Dionysius, Not Today, So what... are good to get you started. Bbapsae, UGH, Idol, Spring day, blood sweat and tears (you'll need the explanation video afterwards) Fake Love, Blood Sweat and tears (eye candy videos - i mean cinematography and symbolism, not the cute guys - you will need explanation video for Blood Sweat and Tears) Their live presesntationss are amazing, and their BBMAS, AMAs, and Grammy's performances are really cool.... but nothing compared to the Asian Award Shows.... mmm... think about your favorite concert, mixed with cirque du solei, in a world cup stadium... and maybe you'll have an idea of what I'm talking about 😅. Start with their 2016 MMA... and go from there... 2016 was a turning point for them, that album got them their first BIG award, and it was the point where they truly embraced who they were and stoped trying to fit the Kpop molde. The MMA 2016 and MAMA 2016 live shows are amazing and they were so shocked to get artist and album of the year they were all crying. Those are good for you to start with their award show presentations.Many ARMYs will ask you for the MAMA 2019... but that is the Crown Jewel, I recommend you learn more about the band and their songs to truly apreciate it. (Keep in mind 2019 was the year they thought would be their last before going into military but covid hit the world making them postpone their military service 2+ years. They went all out for that award show, making it like a journey through their discography) Live presentations, MVs and dance practices will give you diferent perspectives and always something new to the song. ARMY will ask you to start reacting to their lives, and MVs, because they are amazing. And you will apreciate the fact that they sing live, they don't lip sing... all while doing all those dance moves. They do use backing tracks for effects, but they are singing live, and you can tell. They have connections between their songs and MVs, and easter eggs.... they do a lot of that. Some ARMYs will tell you it is because of the BU (Bangtang Universe) which is a parallel story line that runs through their MVs, but it is complemented with webtoons, blogs, video games, and other stuff to get the whole picture.... way to complicated for Baby ARMY and even older ARMY like myself. The good thing is that if you don't know the BU it's ok, because it is not really needed to understand their MVs. There are tons of video explanations mainly because of all the cultural references. But everything they do has a deeper message than what meets the eye. Quick example, and not the most impressive, but just the one that came to mind... the name of their song "Permission to Dance" is an anagram for "Stories on Pandemic". The production and thought process for their concepts are unprecedented in the music industry. Make sure to turn the captions on, they do sing some parts in english in some of them, but all of their songs are in mainly Korean and Japanese except for 3 that are fully in english. You can react to their videos from their official youtube channel, they don't do copyright clames if you show the intro. Ok , I'll stop here this is a lot of info. Sorry it got long. Welcome to the family! Can't wait to see your journey. ✌🏻💜

The main reason being Blackpink does not write or produce their own music like BTS does. And Blackpink's lyrical topics revolve around common things like romantic love or dance party music. While BTS also do those type of songs, the majority of their songs go into very deep and personal topics such as their personal stories, Jungian psychology, philosophy, mental health and socio/political commentary - these deeper topics are not common in the kpop industry, where the songs are largely shallow and aren't that personal.

For me this song black swan is them confronting their shadows their darkest thoughts and fears and which is losing passion for what they do, which is art. And they compared that feeling of their first death when they longer want to do art and that is painful for them. " An artist dies twice and the first death is the most painful".

I recommend On kinetic manifesto if you're looking for them to showcase their dance moves and vocals. BTS has 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. They have group songs and solos. Jimin was the solo dancer. He is a main dancer and lead vocalist and has a background in contemporary and hip hop. The one that you said you liked his hair is RM and he is the leader and main rapper. :) There is a starting point for you. 🙂 I highly recommend Taylor's guide to BTS, The Bangtan 7.

Welcome to BTS and ARMY 💜 I hope that as you see more you will realise that this group is incredible. All 7 members are talented artists and each brings something special. The 7 members stagd names are RM (the leader-middle of group in age after J Hope), then in age order Jin, Suga (solo stage name Agust D), J Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook (also called JK at times). The entertainment company they have a contract with was called BigHit but is now HYBE, BigHit Music. Dynamite, Butter and Permission to Dance are their only fully English songs and not actually representative of their music. These were created to bring a little cheer and hope to their fans (called ARMY) during the pandemic. They actually do not have "a" music style as they cover multiple genres. Black Swan is part of the Map of the Soul (MOTS) album set comprising MOTS Persona and MOTS 7 albums. They explore Jungian theories of the persona, shadow and ego. In Black Swan they sing about their shadow which for them is their fear of losing passion for their music, and if that fear materialises it will be like dying their first death, more painful than their actual death - taken from a quote from Martha Graham about not being able to dance anymore. The shadows in the MV move independently of the singers. The Jungian theory is that you need to accept all aspects of yourself so face your fears and acknowledge they are there. At one point Suga reaches out and touches his shadow on the wall saying he looked inside and saw himself. When they are dressed in white they are being viewed from the audience perspective - this is their Persona selves, what they display to the public. When they are wearing black they are being viewed from behind the stage or behind the scenes and this is their shadow selves. At the end scene, JK is watching his shadow and accepting his fear as part of himself so the shadow shrinks and disappears. This is an extremely clever MV and song to portray their acceptance of their shadow, their fears, acknowledging them and continuing on despite the fear, growing as a person to understand their true selves. BTS shares their lives with us and have always shown their feelings, dark and light. This is one of the reasons the bond between the group and us ARMYs us so strong. They allow us to give them support on a more intimate level than any other artist I know and I am 50 years old. I thoroughly recommend a guide. I like Taylor's guide to the Bangtan 7 the most and The Most Beautiful Moment in Life updated version by Rice Squad. ARMY will sit through and length of video so please do not worry about how long the quides are or pausing, going back etc.

@@chillbydesign Yeah don't even get us started on US Radio gate-keeping LOL. Those two songs were written to cheer everyone up during the pandemic and were primarily written but composers/writers outside of BTS and their in-house production team. MOST of their discography (over 300 songs) has BTS member(s) fingerprints all over them as writer/composer/producer and/or instrumentalist. That is another reason they aren't your "typical k-pop group" and why we respect and appreciate them so much. Hope you check out more. I really personally hope you hold off on Butter and Dynamite just because it is probably the "least" like their core although they slay them, especially the live performances. Thanks for reacting!

This song is about losing or the fear of losing your passion or the ability to do the thing you love most in life. In their case it would be music. BTS is their own genre and are not really KPop. They have transcended the genre. So I am sure everyone will fill you in on the other stuff. Black Swan is based on the ballet Swan Lake about a white/good swan and a black/evil swan. It most modern productions, the role is played by the same dancer. It signifies the struggle within oneself between light and dark. They did a whole series about the shadow self. Based on works by Jung and the novel Daemian by Hermann Hesse. It's hard for new people to understand the depth of this song just on one listen. Once you know more about them, go back and listen again. It's about the fear of losing your passion. Most people are not used to the depth of meaning and poetry these guys have. Oh, and always watch the MVs until the end. They originally were a Hip Hop group(still are) and they span all the genres. If you tell ARMY what you like, they guide you. I think you should watch ON Kinetic Manifesto Film Come Prima and Mic Drop next. What you have seen was made specifically for US audiences. Enjoy the rabbit hole.😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🫰🏻

BTS explores so many different genres. 'Butter' and 'Dynamite' are the most commercial/popularized, but that's *FAR* from the only kind of music they make. It's what makes them different from the rest of the Kpop industry - some other groups tend to stick to a specific sound in all their albums which is fine, but can be boring (but subjective to your taste). I find it interesting you don't find Black Swan to be good cause it's 1 of 2 songs that *really* made me interested in their discography. I found it so unique, different, and beautiful :>> I respect you for being honest about your tastes though! You might not like everything from their discography but it's fun to explore them since they do so many different genres.
@graenovember
@graenovember Год назад
also 'Butter' and 'Dynamite' i think have the least contribution from the members in terms of sound? they contributed to the lyrics but most of the sound and beats were made by others. If that upbeat music is more to your taste, they do have some more songs like that but you might find that you'll like girl groups like 'Twice' more for that very kpop-pop upbeat sound.

I apologize if I came across as not liking the song, I think the darker tone set me back, since I expected vibrant, happy go lucky, and "pop" from the group. BTS ( 3 rappers + 4 vocalists) is the biggest group in the world. They were the biggest artist named by the IFPI in 2020 and 2021 and last year number 2. They are also groundbreaking. (BTS can sell out stadiums in pre-sales for multiple days) BTS are very much an outlier: a once-in-a-liftime-artist. I'm surprisingly not joking or exagerting. They create ca. 0,5% of their countries GDP (5 Billion USD). If you want to know about K-pop try: Kpop history in 20 minutes by DKDKTV BTS vs K-pop by bby gang mag (his channel is actually very good and helps with a lot of background; this vid has a good seggment about what K-pop actually is) BTS: More than K-pop by bby gang mag and if you have time "The Rise of Bangtan" which is really long but not only has BTS history but a lot of context for example about the Industry - things you don't usually see or notice (the Bonus is also quiet funny) Taylor Mari's Bangtan 7 is also not bad and you get some information about them as Individuals, about the group and the fans. Black Swan is about the death of passion. Their fear to loose their passion for their craft. Shadows play a big role in the MV because we are on "The Map of the Soul" which discusses Carl Jung's psycholgy. We are talking about the "shadow", the unconscious. This is their fear as artists, their shadow. And yes this is connected to the ballett "Swan Lake" and the movie "Black Swan". BTS makes concept albums - a line from their first drop till now. They are very involved with their art direction/music creation. Genre is actually quiet unimportant and is always a surprise. Thank you for giving them a chance! You nice! Keep going! 💜

Please don't assume a group with a decade of highly diverse output defined by messaging and operating in multiple genres somehow is putting out something lesser because it is not the same bright Americanized pablum BTS had recently made Western bank on. This song had a multilayered meaning approaching a moment when a life-path artistic commitment suddenly loses its drive leaving the person experiencing the new inertia questioning whether going on is even viable or rewarding. The term black swan literally refers to a sudden, unexpected event which often comes with catastrophic consequences. This track was a piece of applied Jungian psychology expressing an autobiographical moment when BTS members felt the need to express in new ways beyond what had led to their rise. BTS will give you things that other K Pop groups won't, so appreciating BTS means approaching them not from a box of K Pop assumptions. Most tracks are best understood by trying to figure out what they are attempting to communicate on lyrical, visual and musical levels as opposed to focusing on whether they are bright and cheery.

This song is about the fear of one day no longer loving music. How sometimes it feels like that, but not loving it would be a first death worse than real death. All based of a quote by a famous ballerina. The first half is quite sad and depressing but in the end it’s about delving deep and finding their passion again and promising never to let the outside world try and steal the joy of music from them again.

It's based on the quote 'A dancer dies twice once when they stop dancing is this is the most painful death'. This is BTS real all their music has a deep meaning. Jimin was dancing on his own showcasing his Contemporary dance training he's also trained in Hip Hop and Traditional Korean dance. Each member in their own right is a solo artist. Each member is also a Song Writer, Composer, Producer to a greater or lesser extent. They are 3 Rappers RM, Suga(aka Agust D) and J Hope and 4 Vocalists Jin, Jungkook (JK), V and Jimin. So when they come together they are a powerhouse of talent and skills, A Global Super Group in fact they are the biggest group globally with millions of fans which are called ARMY. They are based in Hip Hop however they use many genre's and mix genre's. They sing, rap about psychological concepts, self love, self development, mental health, societal issue's, reference important Works of Literature and Art.
